  • re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

Got a bit of a situation here.
I've removed all the armors from my SPG Hyperion jacket before washing it & forgot the position of shoulder guards inside the jacket.

Which way should it go inside the jacket?

Can I at least add a Velcro arm strap to the the sleeves? Would that damage the jacket in any way?
No it wouldn't adding a velcro patch with plastic loops won't be harmful as you call it. But what's detrimental is the removal of the machine stitched seams. You can stitch over it, but never undo that's there.

Both shoulder armor are the same and both forearm armor are the same, so it's absolutely not a problem with the position of the armor. Just make sure you use the shoulder for shoulder and the forearm for forearm. You can see the forearm is a little longer than the shoulder, but they are both interchangeable, and not to worry.

Guys I was interested in dsg nero pants. Can someone give a review about the pants? I have gone through posts here but have only found some queries, but no reviews. Also, does dsg triton support nero through waist connection zipper?

DSG Nero is a versatile pant, where I found it to be a real good is the pockets in the front, very comfy and holds almost all the paraphernalia. Second is the warm quilted liner, don't even consider wearing the liner in summers, though it might feel a little snugger than usual, it's gets very uncomfortable and sweaty. This one has two liners one is the waterproof and thermal liner. And pockets are waterproof zippers just in case you forgot your nylon pull over the pants.

All in a very good pant for the price.

            Cheers!

Thanks Vijay. I noticed that dsg triton has a 3-4 inch zipper hanging from the lower back. Is this used to fasten pants like nero?

Yes they are, those little piece of flabby heavy zippers are down there to attach it to the pant.

                Cheers!

How do you guys clean the white colour part of mesh jackets like Alpinestars? I don't think using brush will be right. Just an ordinary sunday afternoon question

Soak the gloves for 10 mins in mild detergent, cold water.
Gently scrub/ massage the gloves with your fingers. Do not use Brush!.
Dip clean in 2-3 clean water.
Let the gloves air dry. Do not dry them under direct sunlight.

Personally - just clean the grime off with a cloth dipped in a mild soap solution and clean again with water to remove any soap traces. Use leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and supple.

                            Hello guys,

Looking for my first riding jacket.
I am from New Delhi and summers here are very hot. I don't ride my bike daily but mostly weekends or rarely to my office which is 35-40 kms from my home and comprises of 50 percent city ride and remaining being the highway ride. Also, 4-5 times a year, I go for long rides to Himalayan states of Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand. For this reason, I am looking for a jacket with a removable warm liner. Also, since I will be using it in New Delhi as well, it should have good air flow. So, to be precise, I am looking for an all-weather jacket. My budget is around 6-7 thousand. So far, I have selected DSG Triton but have heard that the water resistant liner can't be removed and will be difficult to use in summers. I have also checked motorcyclegear.com and found some good options there too but since my first jacket, I am a bit hesitant to buy it online and that too from outside India. Please suggest something, friends.

                            Thanks

Look at the Spartan Helios. Comes with KNOX armor as OE, rain liner. The thermal liner is an optional extra.

Alternately, look at the Cramster Breezer 4.0 as well.
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

i got spartan helios. everything is okay except my hand size. the elbow armour hangs loose and im almost sure, it aint gonna help me in case of a fall. but with the rain liner it stays in place.
the strap size is insufficient for my thin size... what to do? can the strap be modified to tie up more tightly? i cant use rain liner always due to nil air and causing heat...
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.
