So, I went to check out some knee guards today in Bangalore. First went to Church Street, to check out Thor Knee Guards in Biking Spirit. Sadly, the store was not there. Came to know that the shop has closed last week. So headed towards Lalbagh to check some cheaper stuffs. So posting the first impressions which I felt after checking some of those.

    AXO Knee and Elbow Guards:

Have seen lots of people using these set of knee guards. Pretty decent for its price and might save you in case of any incident. Standing straight is a bit uncomfortable. Padding is very thin and cheap quality. But for the price, we cannot expect much.

The worst set I've seen so far today. Not at all recommended even if you're looking for cheap set. The folding joint seemed weak, might break if in case you hit something with your knee while walking. No words for padding.

    Alpinestars bionic Knee Guard (original):

This one looks huge. Build quality is sooper, though, I felt, the quality could have been better for the price. I'm not complaining about the product, but seemed bit overpriced comparing other A* stuffs available. Covers most the knee area, though not sure how skinny legged people will find the fitting of this one. Knee joint mechanism is remarkably smooth.

Scoyco K11 Knee and Elbow Guard:

Not a bionic set, but I felt pretty comfortable wearing the knee guards. Didn't feel any obstruction while standing after wearing these. Looks good, and outer shell is strong enough. Inner padding is soft, and will help in absorbing any impact. But comes as a set of 4 (2 Knee / 2 Elbow).

    Fox Unknown Knee Guard:

Trust me, this is the best knock off I have ever seen (quality-wise). The outer shell is strong and inner padding is good. And the knee guards look big compared to others. The knee joint is pretty smooth too. I also liked the locking system of the straps, no Velcro used, and they are pretty easy to lock and can be opened quickly and without any extra effort. The shopkeeper quoted a price of around Rs 2000 for the pair, didn't felt negotiating after seeing a set of Scoyco K12 hanging in the corner of the shop.

    Scoyco K12:

Actually I was searching for these set of knee guards, and finally found them at Adeshwara's Auto Zone, Lalbagh Road. The build felt solid, have hook and loop strap, smooth knee joint mechanism. The padding could have been better though. Standing and walking wearing these didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

The dealer quoted a price of Rs 3100. But unfortunately, only yellow color was available. Asked for white one, and the guy said it might take six months before it is available.

For 3000, I can get a pair Thor Knee guards. But I kinda liked the design and functionality of the K12.

Haven't checked Fox Raptor which is flooded in eBay, and the Cramster ones (not available as per website). Anyways, will think and take a decision later about which one to buy.

Thanks for the detailed review. Couple of questions:
      * What is the difference between bionic & non-bionic?
      * Can all of thes ebe work under a pair of jeans?

        Hello Everyone,

Need a quick suggestion from you guys, as I am planning to buy my first riding jacket I am very confused with the increased options available. Please help me choose one which will be best to use in all weathers. I have the following jackets in my list:

        - RJays Swift
        - Cramster Breezer 4.0 & 4S
        - Spartan Helios (this one is listed with most features on the website for the price)

If you think there are any other jacket worth buying and better than these, please suggest.

        Thanks alot.

There is also DSG Nero in that price range. But, I feel Helios gives the best bang for buck. The KNOX armour alone makes it one of the better jackets in under 10K.

            1) Bionic knee guards have articulated knee section which provides more flexibility and easy leg movement.

            2) Not recommended. Do check SPG PERSEUS Knee Guards as they can be worn under pants.

Spartan Helios is an excellent jacket with lots of useful features. I'm using Cramster Breezer 4S (Black/Red, not listed in the website ) and it is good too. Didn't go for Helios as it was not fitting well for me. Also Breezer 4S comes with both rain liner and thermo liner. The best thing to do is visit any shop and try these jackets before you purchase, the one which fits you best with armors in correct place, buy it. Because comfortable ride is also important as well as protection.

Biking Spirit is NOT closed. It has just shifted to a new showroom in the Cash Pharmacy building. Now located in the same building as the Triumph Motorcycles showroom, at the rear.

Hey guys, I bought Spartan Ares gloves from Biking Spirit about a week back. But they don't have hooks to attach it to the jacket as mentioned in a couple of user reviews on xbhp. Has the design been changed?

For e.g here is a pic taken from xpranav's review; The part shown in red circle is missing in mine.

ok in these i would suggest the tarmac full length boots available at bachoo motors. the look feel and quality seems very very good. i tried it at bachoo motors a week back!

now coming to my query- i just decided to go on a buying spree to buy gears for my upcoming purchase the rc390. ok i know its weird that i dont have a bike yet and still want to buy gears now. but then there is a catch- im posted in a weird city called Ludhiana where you dont get anything. so trying to pick up all the gears if and when i travel to Mumbai/Hyderabad/Bangalore/Kolkata as i dnt want to be gearless when i buy thw bike or have to compromise by getting something then in haste which i wouldnt be happy about.
i have already been to Mumbai last week so i picked up the rjays carbon short gloves in white.
i also picked up the rjays all season pants.
i would like a MT helmet. please put in your thoughts. i heard they are good.
next is a jacket. im torn between the rjays octane ii and the spartan hyperion and the rjays is brilliant. smart protective good fitting and very good looking. but havnt got a chance to sample the hyperion. please suggest.
and lastly are the cortech latigo rr boots any good? whats the price after customs and all? or suggest some other good boots please within 14k. i was also thinking about the tarmac boots. as said earlier they look and feel very good.

You won't get a riding jacket for 3K. Minimum is for 4K, SPG has that one.
