I have posted a short relative impression of the Icarus with the Helios in this very thread, a few pages back. The helios is plenty big and won't appear short anywhere. In fact it has broad sleeves and hence the armours won't hug lean arms. Reason I didn't buy it. It's basically for guys with nice broad arms.
I have done 3-4 rides and have been using the jacket for daily commute too and I can say that I am satisfied.

Always go for a snug fit when buying a jacket. You don't want to take a fall in a loose jacket and end up getting injured because the armour was not where it was supposed to be.
    Well said..
Even I am of the same view. Lengthwise feels bit short but it is indeed very comfy to wear. Yesterday I did Mumbai-Surat-Mumbai and it did it job very well. Perfectly ventilated, no hindrance/ obstacle in movements and amours held their place perfectly.
You won't regret the money spend.

That is exactly the reason why I am bit reluctant on ordering such stuff online.

Any chance you know about any good riding gear store in DELHI NCR, I want to buy some gear to go with RC390,but I am never sure about size/fitting until I could actually try it.

The shoulder and elbow armours fit in place and don't move around and even the sleeve length is proper, but the length at the waist seems to be a little short according to me and my parents. Is that how riding jackets are supposed to be? Just at waist length? Will post a few pics soon.
I bought it from 'ryder city' near jc road, they are distributors of Spartan gear. They do not have large size in stock and therefore I could not try it on. I tried the xL size and the armours were just floating around the shoulder and elbow even after full tightening of the adjusters.
I am in a confusion whether to exchange for the large size(which will be available in 10days) or to keep the medium size itself.
          I am 6ft 1 inch tall and weigh 63kilos :P
Kind of an yes and a no. "Most" jackets do have a slightly lesser waist length which means the waist is just exactly at or slightly above or at your belly button level. The reason I've found out is due to the waist adjusting straps. If you look closely a snug fit on any jacket is achieved by the waist adjustment straps. If this thing strap comes around the hip level, it becomes a little hard to get that right fit. I weigh to 96, so my hip to waist ratio is well...

Remember. shoulder armor should always stay in place, they should neither float or move out of place. At the same time, a jacket must not be either too snug or too loose. Going over a size isn't something detrimental, when you consider your basic apparel and what not. But before you go over a size, make sure you are comfortable with what you're wearing first, basic apparel such as a tee or a shirt and then see how it fares. I hope you got the point

P.S. Unless people can see your derriere each time you bend down, or if it makes you uncomfortable, a size up would be the right decision. But again, if you have the the armor movement issues, then you have to "drape" in accordingly.

          Cheers!

The CHAOS boots are a special order/supply for Moto101 outlets and a few premium SPG resellers. You will have to contact them or the SPG Helpdesk directly. The boots are meant for urban/commuter use and has necessary heel, toe and ankle protection - definitely better than wearing stuff like combat/trekking boots since these are designed from the ground up as motorcycle boots.

The pricing is introductory though and an increase is expected soon.

            • riding jacket/pant or seperate knee/elbow guards?

              Query Merged/Approved

              hi all,
i am confused whether to go for a
dedicated riding jacket/pant with built in elbow/knee/shoulder guards makes sense (both economically and practicality and comfort point of view)
              OR
separate elbow/knee/shoulder guards and then wear jacket/pant of choice?

My personal suggestion would be, to get yourself a dedicated proper riding jacket and pant setup with armors. Not only do they serve their purpose, but also they provide abrasion resistance (the outer polyester shell) I'd also suggest you to "not" get those cheapo Fox armors, they are cheap, they don't last long enough. When you have products made of cheap plastic and women's stockings, what more do you get!

Investing a tad more, and getting yourself some dedicated riding gear, would be my advice. Safe, reliable, and prime factor is that it gives you peace of mind.

                Cheers!

Hey guys, I am looking for Spartan jacket. I called Rajeev from Meandering India but they don't have Spartan stock. Called one more shop in Karol Bagh but they too don't have it. Can you point me to some shops in Delhi where I can get Spartan jackets. I don't want to buy them online and would like to try them before going for one.

                      hey guys!
i am really in a hurry to purchase a good quality riding jacket.
i have two jackets in mind
                      1. spartan hyperion Rs.9999
                      2. rjays octane ii Rs. 8999
now as im getting into riding after 5 years, im really scared of heat. i stay in ludhiana and the heat in summers is crazy. i dont really care about winters as a pullover inside will do the job.
Now coming to the hyperion i see it has leather shoulders. While im sure about the protection but not too sure how much il sweat.
on the other hand i am not too sure about ventilation in the octane ii too.
so please give me a feedback as to which one would be better in ventilation and why.
                      i need to order tommorow.
your valuable advice is hugely needed as i cant see both th jackets in person before i buy.

After seeing both jackets in person while i was doing my own hunt some months back, i'd recommend the Hyperion.. Even though the hyperion has leather, its for one, perforated.. along with that, its only there in the major impact areas. majorly, the shoulder and elbows. The rest of the jacket is mesh other than the cordura layer at the kidneys.. And being an owner of the helios.. I can guarantee you will be fine with the hyperion regarding heat.. and safer too.. The octane is good, but you're going to really boil in that.. i wore it for 5 sec's max when i tried it..

for all its worth, Read this review by a fellow member of the hyperion.. @krish2778

you made the choice a little easy.
so the octane 2 does not have mesh at the right areas? they say its a mesh jacket.

mm.. If i remember correctly, it didnt seem like a mesh type.. But then again, my memory is a bit foggy about it since i was mainly looking for spartan. I think others might be able to help with confrming that.. But, id go for the hyperion anyday.. Just find both, wear them and see.. Youll notice easily if it is airy or not..

The dealer will be getting stock of the entire range of spartan jackets by tomorrow which will include the large size. I did get your point about the icarus being a snug fit jacket for lean guys but i still want to try the large size and see if it is more comfortable. If the large size is a little loose then i will keep the medium size otherwise i will go for the exchange.
