I have tried on the 2nd shoes, the soles are very hard. Should serve the purpose.

Woodland are stupid. They make tractor tyre like soles but don't use good material IMO.

Have a look at these. I have ordered from all of these websites and have faced no issues :

looks okay. but too pricey for me at the moment..

also, i dont want a dedicated riding boot now. i want some which would serve dual purpose of both riding and casual wearing.

most of the prices are prohibitive for me.

i liked the look of that solognac waterproof boot, but it has that same curvy ridge at the sole, same as woodland.

and, are woodland boots bad for riding in anyway??

Been using the last one for two years now. Good shoe. But not a riding shoe as it doesnot provide any crash protection.

I found woodland laces always try to unknot themselves, in both that I had. Also the material in the sole are not really slip resistance (the flat sole on my GAS turned out to be better while walking through slippery snow than the beefy woodlands). Instead it achieves that with humongous threads which is not a good idea to interface with the control on a 2 wheeler. Why don't you try one of the CAT shoes if you can't get an actual riding shoes ?

This is just my personal opinion... You take time to get used to these shoes. Initially I was very uncomfortable, but got used to them over time. Did thousands of kms in these shoes.

The sole is not very grippy I agree, specially on plain slippery surface, but in mud etc the tyre grooves more than make up for the poor sole material. But this is the only drawback I can see.

Apart from dedicated riding shoes, these shoes provide the most protection is what I feel. And then they are true rough and tough shoes, you can abuse them no end and they will still hold on. The stitches don't come off, leather doesn't get torn etc...

After these shoes I searched a lot for all weather, take anywhere shoes that can give enough protection to be worn on a motorcycle, searched timberland and caterpillar, but no shoes gave me the confidence. Later I setlled for a pair of cool Woodland boots but only because I was bored of the looks of these shoes, having worn them for over 2 years and over many thousands kilometres.. And I still feel guilty that I gave up a little protection because of looks...

In some instances my feet would have been hurt if not for the sturdy thick leather body of these shoes, so protection is something I can vouch for. Its like wearing a thick leather armor on your feet. And once you get used to the weight you can trek in these too...

                ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

I need help regarding upgrading the armor in a riding jacket.

I have a Cramster Breezer 2.0... I absolutely love the way the jacket looks, but its been five years and the armor, specially the back armor is not upto the mark with current breed. It is CE Approved alright, but I could not make out the Level or whether it was EN 1621-1 or 2.

Anyway I compared the thickness to a Spartan Jacket (EN 1621-2 Level 1) and it was half as thick, so reason enough to upgrade I guess.

Though I would be buying a new jacket, but I will like to keep the old one too. Which brings us to the question of upgrading. Can anyone tell me from where I can buy armour separately, and how to ensure that it fits the pockets in the jacket, especially the back armour...

You can get knoxx level two armors from spartan. It should cost around 2K.

                    which bike do you ride??

i wanted to change these shoes because the arch in the middle of the underside of the sole is right where the footrest for the thunderbird should stay.. this leads to a kind of uncomfortable experience while changing gears, braking, because the level of the sole comes down due to the footrest resting in the sole arch.

if the sole is one flat piece, then this wouldnt happen.

apart from that, yes, the shoe real real durable and can take any kind of abuse i throw at it.

Ok I don't know about the T-Bird.. Earlier I had a Karizma R, even for the current N650, I was looking at these shoes, but I guess for REs these would be uncomfortable due to the arch as you mentioned.

yes.. for other bikes like the FZ, CBZ etc, this is not a problem during up shifting since the gear shifter is pulled up by the top face of the foot.. but then down shifting is again an issue for me.

i'm riding to mumbai this weekend. i will wear these shoes and see if i can find any proper position...

                              Hello,
I am planning to start using gloves. Just came across this at Amazon:-
Probiker GPB Leather Motorcycle Riding Gloves (Red, X-Large) by Probiker http://www.amazon.in/dp/B00QLFX5E6/r..._GZ25ub08ZQB9Y

I have never used gloves while riding so I'm very hesitant to spend too much as of now. Will the above mentioned item be a good pick to start? Budget is not more than Rs 400/-

To put it simply, they will not save your fingers and hand in the event of a crash. Its equal to going with no gloves, except that it'll increase the grip a little.

If you are restricted due to budget, wait a few months, save up and go for a full leather glove.
