What about customs? I'm not very sure that it's gonna be easy to just import stiff that way until a friend is coming down or something.Originally posted by joelgreen View PostAny websites I can check out in particular? yes, The customs office is in Bangalore, I will pay the customs charges and the price will still be less than what the stores are charging here for original Alpinestars.Originally posted by JS16 View PostWhat about customs? There are several sites for checking stuffs from Europe .Why ride fully covered in Riding gear on a hot Summer ? Because road rash from hot asphalt hurts more than sweat

I hope you know how customs works in India? Because 30% is the minimum percentage you'll have to pay on these + over that if it's detained it adds up for more. And the officer himself can anything he likes. Trust me I've imported Dainese suit and jackets.Originally posted by RiderRaj View Postyes, The customs office is in Bangalore, I will pay the customs charges and the price will still be less than what the stores are charging here for original Alpinestars.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Yeah in general its better to buy stuff here itself from stores because after taxes and everythung it rounds about the same plus you have the convenience of taking it back to the store in case somethings wrong. Reverse international shipping is a huge headache.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hey Roshan, Even I am looking for riding gear in the same budget as you.Originally posted by Roshan_Revz85 View PostHi friends I'm planning 2 get riding gears for me n my better half, as we commute 150kms from workplace to home only on weekends, My budget is 15k per head. Excluding Helmets please suggest some VFM gears on my budget, Thank you.
As of now, I have only finalized my riding boots which is the Orazo picus as I have got very positive reviews about it from people. They say it has very good durability & alue for money. you can read reviews of it in the gear thread of xbhp. They cost between 4200-4700 bucks a pair.
As for jackets, I have two choices 1) the DSG Evo - Rs. 5000 2) aspida atlas jacket - Rs. 4500
For gloves i have shortlisted Scoyco MC-10 - Rs. 1000
I am getting a knee guard from my friend. It is by a company called Nexxt. I think it costs under 1000 bucks.
Since, I have not finalized gloves and a jacket. Do let me know if you find anything better than the options I have given.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
yes bro, I have made all the calculations and it is still cheaper to import, The stores are charging too much it seems + they dont even have stocks for what I am planning to buy,Originally posted by JS16 View PostI hope you know how customs works in India? So this is the best option for me. regarding return I understand that is a risk, but even the stores cant do much about it since there is no local service center for Alpinestars in India. the return is a risk I am willing to take.
@Guys Above Please do not Buy Kneeguards, they are only fit for cycling and skating, Not CE rated for Motor bikes. THe CE rated knee guards cost 3k+ and even then it is not safe as knee guard can easily slide from its intended position in case of an accident making it useless, there are several accidents i have seen pictures where folks got bad knee injuries despite wearing knee guards as it was useless when it really mattered. Better buy a mesh riding pant, it is worth the price, and safer.
Same for gloves, buy CE rated, Socoyco etc are not CE rated for motor bikes, they may be CE rated for Cycles, (there is a difference in CE rating for motorbikes and cycles)Why ride fully covered in Riding gear on a hot Summer ? Because road rash from hot asphalt hurts more than sweat

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
They (TBG) have tie ups with many other stores. Last time I spoke to Swapna of Lets Gear up , she told they have their stocks in DJ Helmets Kochi, Kerela. So there are chances that the jacket would be vailable else were. According to me .. its a VFM product. You can call up or messege them in their FB page to know where else they have .Originally posted by somenath1061 View Post15k per head is a good budget. Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Thanks all of you 4ur kind replies. I've made up my mind to go with Rynox tornado pro jacket. I need to know more about the armours, can I upgrade them to CE level2, if yes how much will they approximately cost? Also while going through the thread i feel Sastec armours a tad better than the Knox ones,Can I upgrade or simply get the by default Sastec ones. Kindly entertain.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Rynox tornado pro comes with ce level 1 knox armor. Getting ce level 2 sastec armor for rynox will be an additional 3k expense. Also i doubt if sastec armour will fit properly.
If you really want ce level 2 rated armor, then solace defender and tbh adv jacket are your options.
