  • Finally!! I have found a Jacket which actually works in Rain! And surprisingly, it is a Mesh Jacket! Cramster Breezer 3.0, with Inner water-resistant liner actually works in rain. My friend bought one earlier today. I had accompanied him to the store. When we got out, it was raining! The Water-resistant liner faced its acid-test on day-0 . And it worked wonderfully well.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Dude in the image the jacket does not look that great. Just wanted to ask you does it appear to be a good looking jacket. And how much is it worth for.?

Actually, I've seen the jacket close hand with a buddy of mine, also from Chennai Xbhp. It looks well made, and is quite stylish. Of course, I would have preferred some more colour to it but it's quite presentable overall.

i am going in for a riding gear shopping. as i would like to see and try the stuff before buying i am heading for banglore. cramster heads my list ( no to a star now too expensive )

list - ( i hate to put bright colors but sort of forced as they will be quite visible compared to black during day esp on highways where bikers are at the receiving end compared to 4 wheels )

              rain proof jacket and pants

helmet - any full face stuff around 5000 buck

              riding shoes and gloves

any saddle bags that fit / suit my ninja.( already have a cramster magnetic tank bag - yet to use )

              budget not to exceed 25,000/-

suggestions are welcome regarding the choice and shops i could visit color .

              • @ Harikeshpk - Why dont you go to AutoQueen, Cochin instead? They stock DSG & Cramster along with all helmets (Cross, LS2, AGV, MPA AGV, GPR etc). All of us Kerala xBhpians buy from there.

                    Here are my suggestions
Jacket - DSG Nero/ Cramster Rush (comes in Ninja Green , assuming yours is green) ~5200
                    Pants - Cramster Velocity 2 ~4400
Helmet - too much variety to comment. for 5k you can get decent LS2/Cross etc
Gloves - again, you can choose from the lot, auto queen stocks cramster, dsg, probiker etc.
Shoes - AQ stocks A* and Cramster boots
Not sure about saddle bags for the ninja... maybe the Cramster Colt will be fine.. try it.

                    • I have bought a brand new Teknic Supervent Mesh red jacket from US. The shipped cost to my doorstep was (guess........) Rs. 2600

Seriously guys, search on ebay.com, and use services like iccworld.com, you will get much superior deals for riding gears than you could possibly fathom!

                        Errrr.....the Cramster 3.0 ??

Seriously, if you're looking for a warm weather jacket, you need to go with mesh - and unless I'm mistaken, the choices are kinda limited. Cramster/DSG are the popular options, though I'm not sure if DSG's mesh has an optional waterproof liner. I think that Bachoo Motors in Mumbai sell an Rjays mesh too. check out this link. Any other kind of dense-weave textile or leather is simply too hot to wear.

My suggestion would be to go with a mesh rather than rain proof jacket. If I'm not mistaken, you're a recreational rider and don't use the bike for commuting, so seriously, how often do you see yourself riding in the rain?

Any other material is simply too hot to wear. Remember a good jacket is actually one that you will always wear. Personally, I would buy a dedicated wet weather jacket for those rainy days.

If you feel that getting separate dedicated warm and wet gear is too much, get a mesh jacket with waterproof liner like the Cramster Breezer 3.0 or equivalent.

I'm looking for a pair of mesh pants myself so if you get hold of the Cramster pants, please do post a review.

As for the helmets, try to get one which has replaceable snap on/off visors and get both tinted and clear visors for day and night time riding. My old school training prompted me to go for a white based helmet for better reflectance both in the day and night.

I've used both Cramster and DSG gloves and have not been happy with either. Currently looking for some AStars or some other good brand, preferably with some venting between the fingers.

I bought the Cramster Velocity pants two months back. Its made of the same material as the Cramster Pulse etc, with the inner contact layer being the same mesh material. Its got padding on the side of hips and stretchable materials on the back, knee etc. The knee also has CE armour. There are velcro straps at the waist as well at the ankle. The pockets have zippers and are easily accessible by the strip extending from the zip. It is not exactly water proof though.
I saw that the newer version of this, Velocity 2 has an inner removable water proofing liner. It also has the reflective strip between the knee and ankle.
Anywayz, I wear it whenever I go on long rides. I even feel comfortable wearing it directly (ie without wearing a normal pants/jeans underneath).
One major disadvantage I feel is that, though it has a zipper at front, its not open, like jean etc. So if you want to take a leak, you'll literally have to pull it down.... (atleast the front hehe).
...oh btw, my avatar spots me wearing the Velocity
