I agree with you....did a small ride for 5 hrs, it was too hot even though you would know the current climate in Chennai, but nothing to worry and no regrets as I have already purchased and usedOriginally posted by senthildsk View PostHi Ramesh,
Buying waterproof boots may sound good, but i found out that they are not suitable for chennai climate (if it's not raining).
I'm using Alpinestars Web-GoreTex waterproof boots for the past 3 months. They get extremely hot after an hour of riding (i'm talking about early morning rides)
... I have to remove them frequently to let my feet breathe...
It would be wise to buy boots with lots of vents (for our Chennai climate...
)

Its Rs.8899/- and claims to be 100% breathable, but i dont think so. I had a discussion with one of my friends he says it is breathable, but it should set in for some time (Minimum 15 to 16hrs of wearing) then he says it is, not sure will seeNever Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

Thanks for the detailed post mate. Will check out the sites and see what fits the budget.Originally posted by Jithu View PostConsidering your criteria you need a mesh jacket ..
There is a close out sale going on Speed and strength mesh jacket in US. But i dont know how long we will have the offer (as your friend is still in India )
you can get the details posts from my in the previous page .
you will get it for55 $ ( 2.5K) plus shipping .. if you purchase for more than 89$ shipping is free .. so what you can do is get minimum two sets of knee guard (one for you and one for your freind if he need one )
so it will be more than 89 $ ..
There are plenty of good knee guards available in
motorcycle-superstore.com including alpinestar reflex.. refer my previous post ..
Regarding gloves i couldnt find any good deals there .. so better you can buy DSG revive or cramster Trg2 from here .. so for around 4 K you can get a good mesh jacket (with water proof liner) and a good knee guard ..
dont forget to follow the sizing chart closly while buying jacket
(i am still not sure whether my jacket will be correct fit
.yet to get the jacket . i ordered large as small all and medium was not there in close out sale and also 40 size shirt(medium ) is small for me )
The sites you can check for good deals is
www.motorcycle-superstore.com
www.newenough.com
www.ridersdiscount.com
www.revzilla.com (free shipping for above 39 $)
www.bikebandit.com
-One major query I had was about the brand. Which brand is more value for money? I know Alpinestars is a known brand and I kinda like Joe Rocket too. But since you mentioned Speed and Strength here, I was wondering if all the brands available, in the mentioned sites, are of good quality?
-Another thing I wanted to know is, which sites ship to India?
-Last but not the least. What the best way to find the perfect size for ordering online? Coz I have seen that the fitting for the same size will vary across different brands.

you wont get original fox guards /armour in india for such a low price..
if you want more details visit their official sites or any of the us riding gear shopping sites..
by the way all the best for your GQ trip
oops...my bad!! But I recently had a fall and the fox knee guards and the armor did the job pretty well, and cramster gloves too!!
As far as the GQ is concerned, the ride has already been completed, check out "The Glory Quest" in the tourer section. And the fall that I'm talking about happened on the GQ ride on the BLR-BOM stretchThe best things in life are realized on two wheels!

yup it is always to have some safty gear than nothingOriginally posted by rubber_stamp_champ View Postoops...my bad!! But I recently had a fall and the fox knee guards and the armor did the job pretty well, and cramster gloves too!!
.
But there are many people (including me few months back) believed that they are reall and would have gone for that . My point was that with almost same price you can get good original knee guards from US (provided you have a freind coming back with them . if you ship to inidia it will cost more better have a group buy then ) .
So i was just sharing the information i know .. thats it .
How dare you say that ?Originally posted by rubber_stamp_champ View PostAs far as the GQ is concerned, the ride has already been completed, check out "The Glory Quest" in the tourer section. And the fall that I'm talking about happened on the GQ ride on the BLR-BOM stretch
I thought you were busy riding and thats the reason why the trip logs are lagging . If you completed the trip already please upload the trip logs fast man
.. we are eagerly waiting for the rest of the trip log

any suggestion on that?
Just because a product is made in China does NOT make it a fake. China is the production house for the world and I am pretty sure that even Alpinestars have a factory or production centre there. You need to judge if the product is a 'replica/fake' or an original made in China.
Sounds tougher than it really is. Most fakes are of two types -
- The first is an outright fake - a low quality product which is simply "labelled" with the popular brand name. Thankfully these are the most common and an informed buyer can simply check the official company ( in this case, Alpinestars) website to see if the model in question is listed or even exists. If it's not, it's probably a fake.
- The second and more difficult to spot are the copies of an original design. That is the fake product has been made to resemble the original product. If it is, then you will have to look very carefully at the product to judge the build quality, materials used and also workmanship. Normally even a well made fake will not stand extremely close scrutiny and I would rely heavily on my intuition as well to make an educated assessment of whether it's an original product or not. Thankfully, extremely well made fakes are not too common in my experience.
Here's a sobering thought - The problem with fake products based on the original design is that they may 'look' good but will not have the standards required to perform their function. So in effect, gullible buyers - in this case our fellow bikers - go out and spend their money on products that will not actually perform what they are meant to do.
The sad thing is that this con-job perpetrated on us is is made easier for the cheats by our herd mentality of 'paisa vasool'. We are so pre-occupied with always getting the lowest price for something that we casually toss our common sense to the winds.

I have the revive gloves and wear them almost everyday to college(around 15kms one way) I bought them about a month back and they are very good. No sweating, very comfortable.I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

As far as i know about the MC15 it is a 100 % water proof gloves so it will not be as comfortable as DSG Revive . DSG Revive seems to be the best gloves below 2 K if you are looking for comfort+safetyOriginally posted by vishnups17 View PostGuys, i just bought a scoyco J17 jacket and now i want to purchase a good riding gloves within 2K range,i am suggested to go for dsg revive, anything other than revive please let me know ,how about the scoyco MC-15B?please let me know which is best gloves for 2K

Cramster twister is an option but not as good as Revive . Cramster Trg2 is there for 2.3 K but it is not as water resistant as Revive .
So for kerala whether i will prefer Revive as it will have descent water resistant charecteristic as well as comfortable in summer also .sigpic

Stay away from the stuff you saw near JC Road, unless its from a reputed shop. Last I checked, they quoted the Axo/Fox (don't remember which one) imitation knee guards at INR 750, & knee+elbow guards at INR 950.Originally posted by vkuchhal View PostI am planning to purchase knee guard and have budget of around 2k...
Went to the orion motors in bangalore and saw alpinestar bonic which is presently way above my budget(5.2k) and saw another from alpinestar which was 3k , did not like it that much...
He also had the fox one , but was selling it with the arm guard for 3k.... as i already have a DSG nero with me... the arm protection is not needed...
I also inquired some shop in jc road which was telling me the FOX knee guard would come at 1750 and AXO would be 2250....
NEED Suggestions on the shop where i can buy reasonable good knee gaurd?
i am not planning to go with the cramster as one of my friend (n_aditya) has had a bad experience with it...
Also wanted to know whether they will scratch the tank of my ninja or not.... or what is the best way to use them...
The A* non-bionic ones are good, & are better off when worn inside the pants.
n_aditya & I noticed that the Cramster knee guards look like a re-done Axo imitation knee guard, with additional internal padding, Cramster velcro, metallic rivets, & Axo label removed. Would suggest all you guys to have a close look at it before buying

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
