      • I never use a Balaclava, I use foam ear plugs instead for the helmet howl. That will solve your problem.

+1. Balaclava's absorb sweat and block passage of dust into your nose/mouth. Use a pair of ear plugs to block wind noise/exhaust drone.

          • thanks, will try out the ear plugs, but i think the cause for the pain is air pressure and helmet vibes, if this doesn't work then no touring for me

ear plugs are made of foam so it should help greatly. If not get a better lid and continue to enjoy your touring adventures.

                • Use of a good helmet is the best thing to reduce/block wind noise and airflow to your ears. I felt a sea change in comfort and noise levels when I got myself a LS2 Diamond. Although it is not the best one out there but way better than my earlier Vega. Of course, there are much better ones in the market and in terms of quality/comfort and you get what you pay. The more you are ready to pay, the better helmet you can get.

Like others have pointed out, use of a balaclava indeed helps in reducing wind noise further. i use a balaclava and I have never felt air flow hitting the ears anytime.

To start with, go with the cheapest option and see if you feel better just by using foam ear plugs.

I say this from experience - I use earplugs on all my tours and I can't live without them. Just make you get good quality ones - I use AOsafety or Hearo's. Besides the noise reduction, it reduces tiredness as well.

Just make sure you get the no frills conical foam ones and NOT the ones you use in swimming pools. those will hurt.

                    • You should be able to source these earplugs from reputed helmet shops. Below is an indicative image of earplugs.

                        • I had an opportunity to ride a small distance (150kms) on good roads at good speeds with the weather nippy at 5'c-6'c.

I didn't feel cold anywhere except in my eyes. What could possibly be the reason?
Was wearing my SparX S-07. (Not able to ride any more (not because of this incident) and am confined to the Car now )

Having been personally using the S07, I think the visor vents are the reason for this. Wither you had them open (), or there was a tiny gap between the rubber clip & the visor hole.

I can't possibly think og any other way air would come & hit the eye only.

Were you wearing a balaclava by any chance?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
