  • How are Rjays gear? Are they good value for money? I have no idea about riding gear. I am thinking of investing on some riding gear before I get the delivery of my Classic 500(2-4 months from now), after going through this thread I'm confused across the various brands, stores and prices. I need recommendation for(I prefer plain black for all)

    1. Helmet - Budget around 7k
    2. Jacket - Budget around 7k
    3. Gloves - Budget around 2.5k
    4. Knee Guards - Not yet decided.

Boots I am thinking of using my Woodland ones, they are quite thick and sturdy, though ankle protection is missing, but I will be investing in gear one by one.

And also how do I go about buying these? I stay in Bangalore and not sure about online transactions, but if left with no choice for a good product then I may look into it.

Edit: I've heard about Orion Motors(opp. Forum Mall), are they reliable? Last time I was there they had almost no products, nothing of interest unlike the items showed on Bachoo Motors website.

      See my previous post.

Helmets - RJays helmets are good but a bit on the heavier side. SparX and KBC are available in this price range. Available at Orion motors.

Best to buy riding boots like sidi or Alpinestars, no alternative to the level of protection they offer.

Orion motors are dealers/distributors for Performance Racing Store, Bachoo motors and Planet DSG. But most of the time they have limited or no stock.

You can check with one Mr. Manju there and refer my name. Or contact the above stores directly. Payments can be transferred via internet banking and the product is delivered promptly. I have bought my gear from the above stores and have no complaints whatsoever

      • @ Salman - Your queries are similar to what kunnu was also asking. Refer to all the responses. Orion will have a good stock of jackets & gloves at the minimum along with KBC / Sparx helmets. Cramster is on Cunningham road & usually has all the products listed on their site in stock.

Your other option for helmets given your budget is AGV which retails for around that price. There are a couple of outlets that deal in AGVs in Blore though I do not know which ones.

For gloves, check out full gauntlet options from both DSG & Cramster.

I would advise you to try out riding gear before investing in it & buying it online.

And yes, all the information that I have typed is available on the same thread across multiple posts. Theres nothing like a little bit of research to give you peace of mind that you get with knowing you have made a wise choice when it comes to riding gear .

                  • JOE ROCKET - Gears

                    Hey guys,

Finally after two month of detailed search i got to choose with JOE ROCKET. I got Nova 2.0 Textile Jacket Charcoal/Grey/Yellow color and Atomic 3.0 Gloves Yellow.

                    Atomic 3.0 Gloves are:

Drum dyed leather and stretchable span/poly top
Leather palm with padding & reinforcements
                    High density knuckle protector
                    High density padding on fingers
                    Padded & reinforced thumb
                    Breathable, perspiration wicking cuff.

Nova 2.0 Textile JacketL and the jacket size is M. The gloves fits exactly perfect(size was a guess), the jacket is too much ventilated and can also be controlled. Elbow and shoulder pads are place perfect. The liner is neatly places also has three seperate zippers, one for waterproof, one for mesh ventilation and the outer main zip(looks clean ).

                    The Thor Sector Knee Guards:

Traditional styled knee/shin armor for impact coverage
Large knee cup with dual limiting straps that keep things in place and provide a secure fit
Injection molded knee and shin panels constructed of durable polypropylene for longevity

This is a bit huge but good enough.

All the above products was bought from NEW ENOUGH(now changed to motorcyclegear.com)

As one of my friend came from California he was able to bring it on (saved a lot with shipping too), as the shipping within US was free.

Here are some of the picture

You definitely need them knee guards cos you never know when luck can run out. Better safe than sorry huh

I would advise you to stay away from Cramster owing to the string of quality issues i faced.

You can get most of the stuff at Orion motors. Have sent you a PM.

The more the merrier. Welcome anytime
                      Thanks Aditya!

Would go gear shopping next weekend as Orion is getting new stock by the coming week.

However, 5.2k for the knee guards sounds a bit too much considering the fact fact I was trying to skip them I was thinking abt something below 2k for now, can upgrade to good ones in a few months. What's your view?

                        Ideally, you should.

A waterproof jacket will be very uncomfortable to wear in summer and likewise a summer mesh jacket will be too cold in winter. There are a lot of products that claim to be able to serve both needs (typical desi paisa vasool ) but in my experience it will always be a compromise.

My advice if you have a limited budget is to buy the type that you will use for the most part, or at least the type that you need right now, so that you still have a few months to come up with the moolah to buy the other one later!

I understand! I asked such a question coz I saw a few jackets' description saying- 'with liner', 'without liner', 'mesh but usable in winter', etc. Would go for the one I need most of the times; after a few months, would get another.

...but the question is- which one would I use the most? Bangalore's weather is crazy- I mean, too cold in the morning to wear a summer jacket (I guess) and the days are otherwise hot.

PS: I love B'lore's weather, called it crazy coz unable to decide on the Jacket type! :P

I'm not aware of mesh jackets with an "outer" liner - only heard of "inner" liners...where do you get the outer liners??

Another option might be to get a full Cordura jacket with openable vents though I would personally be inclined to go with mesh since it does get hot sometimes in Bangalore. In rains though, full Cordura jackets with liners tend to do a better job than mesh with liners.

So maybe you should go for mesh with liner now and a cordura with liner later!
