  • Which jacket to buy?

    Hi Guys,

I am from Trivandrum,Kerala and this is my first post in xbhp. I have been planning to buy a good jacket for the last couple of months. I have shortlisted

    1)Cramster Breezer 4.0
2)DSG Phoneix(i like it more than Nero)
    3)RJays Swift

I own an Royal Enfield classic and am planning a couple of really long trips in the coming months. Basically I need something which is comfortable to wear in hot climate(I don't mind sweating at traffic blocks), but it should be comfortable on the move. Also a decent rain protection.A good protection is also a must.

I am really inclined to breezer or swift, but wants to have an opinion on both as well as Phoenix. The maximum I can shell out is 6k. Or am I missing any other jacket? Please help me out

    • Pants

      Hi guys,

My first post here. I intend to buy pants (already have a DSG Nero and Textile suits are way too expensive ). Need some gyaan on the kinds (Textile/Leather/etc.) to go for and what to look for in one. Do these come with fitted knee guards? Only Alpine's (that too 2) on planted DSG site.

Came across this site. Wondering if they're offering anything good.

      Regards,
      Amod.

I had a similar dilemma with similar choices,i went for the breezer 4.0 mainly because of the 2 detachable layers and aesthitically i found it better. really happy with it,mesh is a boon in the mumbai summers.

            Thanks ka600.

I am a little skeptical about cramster quality. How do you find the quality of breezer 4.0? Since you own one, can you please give me an overall feedback of the product.?

Aneesh@4GHz I will definitely contact them. Thanks

This is a built in feature in my BMW pro-summer gloves. I was wondering what it was until one day it rained and I looked at the index finger, and thought, 'Voila!'

                • Hi all,

Finally, my jacket has arrived. The A* TRC-1 (Blue).

A short review. The problems of bulge around sleeves and armor going out of place have been solved. Size small fits perfectly. Yes, with inner liner it's very tight and you only sweat. For the time being, I have removed the liner. It's still very hot in there. Don't be fooled it's a mesh jacket! I went on a ride shortly after I received the courier. The only place from where I could feel the air-flowing was through my gloves. Riding in summers could be a bit uncomfortable. I intend wearing riding gears daily to college though.

DSG has been super-quick to deliver the jacket this time. One sms did the trick. Took them 2 days to deliver the jacket and I am pretty much satisfied with their services.

Few queries, if I may, to all those riding to work/college with riding gears. How do you carry your riding gears after the commute? I was trying to fit my jacket inside a medium sized backpack but it wouldn't go.

I will be riding to college daily and I have no clue how to carry it around! What size backpack do I need?
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

Exactly the reason that many don't wear their gear daily. IMHO your jacket is unsuitable for daily use in hot weather, traffic etc., but if you're upto bearing the discomfort and don't mind lugging your jacket around, check out the Squad II pack from ICON. It will carry your helmet too. Alternatively, try to rig a harness similar to the ICON pack for carrying your jacket.

Dude, please. Have mercy on me.

It costs a bomb at $145 (Revzilla). Plus shipping+customs. Nearly as much as the jacket. Anything in the budget range of a college-goer (<3k), if you know.

About the jacket. Actually, you are right. It's too hot inside. Just came back from an an errant run, rode for about 45 minutes. I was cooked inside, literally.

My college is at a distance of 15km, from the place I stay. Route, I take, is mainly via the expressway. Usually, don't get to encounter jams; weather sure is a problem for us Northerners though.

15-20 minutes inside it seems fine. I have no problems riding to college even on the hottest of days. Only want this backpack issue to be solved.

Come on, guys! Lots of you ride to office daily with riding gears, pour in your suggestions.

Have you tried the Cramster Laplace?
Its pretty big for a Jacket and few other things. Its got a helmet holder on the outside too.
Ive been using it both as my Riding & Travel bag for sometime now and very happy with it.

                              Ooops! Sorry!

When you had opted for the AStars jacket even though it was unsuitable for your daily use, I thought that you were a brand hog - my bad!

Ranjith has already pointed out a cheaper option, the Cramster Laplace though IMHO I personally wouldn't want to stuff my sweaty or damp jacket into a bag for the whole day - it will stink up if not aired. Most office goers will be able to store their gear at their workstation/ cubicle/ cabin but you I fear will not have that luxury. The only thing that comes to mind that is cost effective is to rig up a harness that will carry your jacket and can be in turn strapped to your regular bag. If you were in my city I would have been able to help but I guess that you have to figure it out yourself or with some local help. I have done something similar to lug around my raincoat when I was in college in medieval times

On a more serious note, I appreciate your determination to gear up when its not convenient to do so. A lot of office-goers even on this forum leave their gear behind simply because they don't want to be bothered with the hassle of changing, and storing the gears to and from office.
