          • My first riding jacket......

            Guyz...
Got myself a RJays Octane-Camo yesterday .. have started loving it just in a single ride back home (Tardeo-Ghatkopar)

Initially had zeroed in on the DSG Nero...went to A2Z motorcycles store in Mulund. I think the owner's name was Vijay (not able to recollect ), a very nice guy. He had Nero in M size which didn't fit me. However on trying it, realized that it felt very warm inside. I knew that its a textile jacket, but had not expected it to be that warm. Asked him for the Maze....felt nice, but again there wasn't any stock for my size . Gave him my contact details for informing me when the stock will be available for my size.

BTW in all of this RAK was with me. We decided to go back home but with a small tea break . While sipping tea, I checked DSG's website to make sure that Maze has a rain liner. And it didn't adding more confusion to my choice of jacket . Suddenly it struck me that RAK's Swift (RAK has a Rjays Swift) was also a mesh jacket and had a rain liner. Swift costs the same as Maze, but without the leather patches.
Me and RAK had some discussion about the protectors and the approval that these jackets have and decided to go for an Octane .

RAK called up Zulfi from bachoo motors to check whether the stock is available & to wait for us as we it was 5.30pm and the shop closes at 7pm. On his positive response we were off to get the jacket. After maneuvering through the Mumbai traffic and the countless potholes (though we both hit a few of them ) we reached our destination just minutes before 7.

The images of Octane-Camo on internet did not really excite me. I had almost planned for the black-grey one. But just looking at the Camo, fell in love with it. It looks really great when you actually see one compared with its images. Along with the jacket, got a couple of FOX elbow-knee protectors (for me and my brother). Also picked up the latest copy of xbhp mag . Thanked Zulfi for waiting.( We could see a couple of customers even after our purchase was complete. RAK asked Zulfi to seriously extend the store timings:.)

After the purchase, was out on streets for the jackets first experience. And man it felt so comfortable. The hugging fit along with the warmth it provides without the suffocation (attributing to mesh) was awesome. Rode in light and heavy showers and the jacket didn't disappoint.

Back home, Mom & my brother liked it. Mom was under the impression that it had cost me 5k. When i told her the true price....she was annoyed. But then as always approved it and told me not to disclose the price to Dad.

Will be riding to Alibag (my native place) in about an hour from now. I almost go there every weekend. Will update about the jacket once back to Mumbai.

PS: I know this is long post, had not planned it to be that long. But couldn't stop myself from sharing 'my experience of getting my first jacket'.

Whoa!!! who ever said that's a fight? We were only clarifying things!!! Besides, he's a good guy & I don't have any intentions to fight with him.

I wanted a jacket from MSS, he offered a coupon that didn't suit my time frame of my purchase & we're discussing on that.

Pls don't misinterpret clarifications to fight.

The below quote doesn't seem like a clarification to me.
Even if it is, would suggest you guys to delete it, as it isn't adding any value to this thread.

I shall delete my rant once you guys oblige.

Anyday Bro . I really think Bachoo Motors should adjust their timings. 7PM is too much. Store should be open atleast till 8 and even on Sundays. Maybe can close on a weekday but weekend is the time when most guys will go out for buying stuff.

BTW guys the Fox Knee-Elbow protectors aren't the original ones. Even Zulfi is aware of that. But due to budget constraints we went for those . But I guess many xBhpians are using it. Any bad feedback about it guys??

Yes anyone with involved in a crash with the fake fox protectors can please tell us whether they are really useful?

I almost thought the thread was gng un-noticed due to some serious discussion in the above posts

BTW on Sunday tried the Octane during my ride from Mumbai-Alibag-Mumbai.
The feel is awesome. Noticed that there wasn't even a drop of water even while riding in moderate to heavy rains throughout the ride.

Can any Octane owners comment about the water-resistant properties of the Octane?

While returning to Mumbai, saw a group of Bullet riders who had halted near a petrol pump just after Pen. Many of them were staring at me as i passed them.

I had the same FOX guards that you are talking about. I had a nasty crash once with the elbow guard on. Not even a minor sprain to my elbow. Sadly I couldnt find my knee guards in a hurry while leaving and thats where it hurt the most

Still I would say it was just a matter of luck and will anyday prefer better quality branded gear
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........
