Those who are playing GTA-IV, can they provide some short hands-on review of the same, please as regards to whether they have been facing any significant technical glitches (slowdown, choppy frame-rates, texture problems, etc.)..

I have lost touch with the recent launches in the motherboard,RAMs department.So i don't want to be taken for a ride by the dealers. Even if the total price exceeds the budget i would definitely consider it taking the performance benefit into account.

my suggestions would be
proccy C2D E8400... best in class of 2cores... and can be clocked way upto 4.05GHz and runs in stock of 3GHz.. in quad cores the best bet would be Q9550.. amazing performance and best option for 64bit architecture OS.. my suggestion would be not to go in for a quad core unless ur runnin multiprocesses...and building an i7 proccy based rig would be too costly than ur budget.. coz the proccy's least achievable rate would be around 13-14k, moreover u would need a mobo with X58 architecture(meaning LGA 1366 socket and the common ones these days are only LGA 775) which has mindblowing prices and the basic ram for an i7 is a DDR3 which starts at INR 4220 for 2GB. u got around70k? then i7 is up ur way...
E8400 - INR 8850
Q9550 - INR 17600
best ram in class would be the corsair DHX series... code name C5D it comes at a stock clock of 1066MHz go for a 1GB kit (2*1GB)
if ur goin for a 64bit architecture OS then go for 4GB and above else the maximum usable ram for 32bit OS, which is most commonly used, is 3GB. and with 64bit OS u also have software compatibility problems.
corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5D(2 X 1GB DDR2 1066MhZ) - INR 5000
as far as the motherboard u can go for an MSI P45 Platinum... amazing performer... if u find the price too high then go for a MSI P45 NEO...
if not MSI then go for Asus P5Q Pro
MSI P45 Platinum - INR 11300
MSI P45 NEO F - INR 6000
Asus P5Q Pro - INR 9500
now the graphix
all day any day HD4850 sonic.. no other card in mid range series can beat this one... if u can crank up ur budget then go for its brother... the HD4870...(GOD).. go for the brand "palit" best cooling solutions offered.
palit HD4850 sonic - INR 12500
Palit HD4870 - INR 17500
high end gaming rigs gulp power.... be sure to fuel ur rig.. the best one would be a corsair HX620W... donot compramise on the power supply.
corsair HX620W - INR 6250
if u intend to overclock then go for an aftermarket cpu cooler...and none other than the thermalite ultra 120 extreme does the job better

then from here on its the usual stuff.... cabinet, dvd writer fans.. etc etc
i dont know about monitors so i cannot comment on them... afaik monitors around 10-12k for a 22" is a price steal

Just calculated the total cost which went over 60k(including monitor and other necessary bits).
What i had shortlisted is this:
Processor:Intel Q9300 Core 2 Quad Processor Price - 11800/- 2.5 ghz or
Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad Processor Price- 9050/- 45nm 2.4 ghz
I think going in for Quad core makes sense at this point of time as the prices could come down as mentioned by Aparajith due to the arrival of i7.Also it would mean having the latest processor, so no fear becoming obsolete in a short time.Or am i wrong??
Motherboard:MSI P7N SLI Platinum Nvidia 750i SLI Chipset Motherboard Price - 8250/-
RAM:Corsair 2 GB DDR2 RAM Price - 2050/-

dude the 750i board has a max FSB of 1333Mhz when OC and runs stock at 1066MHz.. basically ur degrading the performance of all ur parts and is a terrible waste of money... never fall for offers like tri-SLi and fancy north bridge heatsinks which come at lower prices.. i've had terrible problems with that board and it has a very limited OC limit... it was very difficult to maintain my E8400 at 3.6GHz...if ur specific on a tri sli then go for an MSI P7N2 diamond 790i chipset... best tri sli board.. made work wonders for me...Originally posted by chicane1879 View Post..

and while gettin the HDD verify that ur gettin one with a 32MB cache and not a 16MB. preferrable WD or seagate
a tip to buy a quad core, go for a 1333MHz processor and not a 1066Mhz. make sure the cache is higher. and what ever the speed, dont worry it can be tuned to get a higher core clock.. my previous Q6600 was at 3.5Ghz. now i've settled for a E8400 as its a higher performer than the Q6600 and is a best VFM core.
and ur forgettin about ur power supply.... dont forget it... its important u provide continious and clean power supply. make sure the head connectors are gold plated ones as they provide 0 resistance to flowing current.
and since ur settling for a 9800, the VX620W would not be necessary.. go for the corsair VX450W..
and about gaming in Quads, there is nothing like the cannot support, the only problem is that most games these days are not built for handling 4 cores. a game like crysis which is known to bringing high end processors to its knees cannot properly handle a quad core and it can fully utilize only 2 cores. so what happens it that the came doesnt know that its got 2 more cores which it can utilize but it doesnot do tat. so while runnin a game and u open taskmanager->performance, ur CPU history would show only 2 processors being maximum used. hope that games in future atleast handle 4 cores. thus quad cores are used for multi processing....
if ur planning to build one exactly for gaming then the quad core would quite not satisfy ur needs, but for a multi procssin task, photoshop, video editin, game, PI chart calculation and Orthos runnin simultaneously, a quad core does its job.Comment
