    A Q8400....that costs around 8K...
For that price you can get an AMD Phenom II X4 955 that will perform much higher. The Phenom II's are, performance-wise, slower than the i7s and the i5s but faster than the C2Q lineup. Anyway your choice.

Are you putting in a really heavy graphics card, or do you have lots of HDDs, or plan to overclock? If not, a 450 W will serve you fine. The difference between good brands and lesser ones is the continuous power supply capacity.

For e.g a Corsair VX 550 routinely supplies around 600W constant, whereas, say, a local 350W PSU would supply 290-300W continuous and perhaps 350W at peak (momentary) output. CM Real Power or Seasonic or Tagan are all okay brands I guess.

Also, if you are using the C2Q proc, then why DDR3? 5% performance difference for far more than 5% cost increase over DDR2. But DDR3 is getting cheaper slowly.

Thanks for the info. But i am more comfortable with INTEL.

Also just now i figured out that the GPU HD4850 which i have selected requires 2*6 pin power connector which wont be supported in the motherboard. So i am thinking of HD4770 DDR5 which also has HDMI output as an extra feature and requires single power connector.

Please enlighten me with me as i have very limited knowledge regarding PSU-Motherboard-GPU Compatibility. And about the PSU i am thinking of Cooler Master 500W.Is it good?

You can definitely keep the 4850...the 2 6-pin power connectors are not related to the motherboard support...they are connected to your PSU's output. If you install a 4850 all you need to do is get a PSU which has adequate number of 6-pin outputs.

The CM Real Power series is good. It seems to be popular opinion that the CM Extreme Power series are not so good. Check for Corsair VX 450 or Seasonic. But in case nothing else is available I don't think you will have a choice...

Well the GC that I have GTX 260 also needs two six pin connectors and for that u can buy GLACIAL TECH 650W price is between 3 to 5k good power supply. I was using a couple of 8800 gt's in sli with two hdd's and 5 fans still no issue

            • Guys can anyone help me out on how i can solve a "RESC10" error in GTA IV, the error is actually because of leakage of my graphic memory as far as i could deduce. The game exceeds the memory buffer of 992MB out of the total 1010MB present thereby crashing onto my desktop whenever this happens. Here are the setting at which i'm running the game.

              Statistics
              Average FPS: 37.19
              Duration: 37.43 sec
              CPU Usage: 71%
              System memory usage: 77%
              Video memory usage: 89%

              Graphics Settings
              Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz)
              Texture Quality: High
              Texture Filter Quality: Very High
              View Distance: 32
              Detail Distance: 70

Or just lower down the resolution to 1368X768 and have fun.

                          • NFS Shift

                            Hi guys,

I installed NFS shift. Set it a resolution of 1920 x 1080, but the game seems to be running too slow. I tried a lower resolution of 1024 x 768, the game is running fine, but not on full screen. After restarting the game, the game display shrunk and does not come on full screen mode. . Please help me on this one.

I use a Core 2 Quad with 1 gb graphic card and 4 GB Ram, Acer 23 inch monitor. Vista Business. Any possible relation to the above..

                            Regards

23 inch monitor @ 1920x1200...that requires serious graphic power. What card do you have? Make and model?

I'd say your card is not powerful enough. If you want to run it at 1920x1200 then go to video settings and turn details to medium or low, turn off AA and AF, set particles to minimum etc etc.
