I ride A150 as well. I am desperately looking for an upgrade for my lights which is too weak and the night ride back from my office on the highway is getting more risky... Was looking at all options but could not make a decision. I even planned to go for HID with two bulbs and share with some other buddy so that the cost is halved.

Now philips extreme power seem to be a good option but looking at M.R.B's struggle to power that thing, I dont have much hope on it...

Back to HID, can someone throw light on my queries

    1. Socket of A150 is HS1 which is slightly different from H4- so how to fix that?
    2. If two HID (high beam) can be purchased, will anyone be interested to share?
    3. What are the brands easily available and what is the cost?
    4. Where in Navi Mumbai it is available?
    5. The HID bulb would be of 35W right?
    6. My 9A battery also seem to be weak; should I upgrade it before HID installation? If yes, any recommendations (brand, amperage)

    Guys please help me..

        • Killer,

Will this kit work on my Machismo 500LB. She has a Dc setup on her for all the electricals. Previously, the LB500 has had issues with the starter motor blowing up sprag clutches due to weak batteries. So, I would be very obliged if you could tell me whether the HID kit puts a significantly additional load on the battery.

          Cheers,

          Jay

The R15 runs a 3.5amp battery and full dc electrics, if this HID can run without any issues on the R15 i see no reason why you would have problems. The highest load is when you switch on the HID and then it settles down to a steady state draw of 3 to 3.5amps. Just make sure you used a seperate wiring harness to the battery with relay switch to keep the load off the existing bullet wiring. I have no idea what bulb you use though, that might be the only challenge.

            • Thank you Killer

My motorcycle is running a 45/40W headlight with the battery rated for 14 amps. So, it should accommodate the HID.

I guess the battery has the 14 amp rating mainly to get the powerful Denso starter motor going.

The R15 with the 3.5 amp battery managing to power so many electricals points to great power utilization by Yamaha.

              Cheers,

              Jay

                  • Can anybody throw some light on the HIDs available @ Grant Road in Mumbai...

I checked them out today... contained one 35w xenon, ballast and required wiring for 2.3K

Has anyone installed these or has any comments on these?? Are these gud or is just cheap Chinese stuff??

                    • That's very good illumintation you have there Killer

Following the footsteps (or tire tracks) of Killer i too installed an HID kit in my Karizma. Kit is Philips (or sold as Philips), 6000k, 35W, Hi/Lo; the built quality seems to be really great. I did the fixing late last nite, will put up photos later.

If your friend was using the HID ( 6000k or higher ) in the the city in mild traffic he must be an idiot ... HIDs grab attention ... We use it caz we tour a lot. Thanks to posers this is becoming an issue everywhere. If the HID is used in a proper way i dont see any issue. Using it on a low beam wont grab much attention as i have seen Honda Dios in my area with HID and cops dont even bother to look at them.

                          • Plus, if u have HIDs on really huge and wide reflectors that scatter light everywhere like on a Pulsar or Discover etc ur inviting trouble. With the puny reflectors on the R15 a HID on lo-beam is no issue at all.

BTW Killer, white HIDs on a white bike, eh? Looks cool!
