    @dual disk:

please tell me about ur setup. ur bike and the jets used. wud be helpful to me..!!!

I understand what ur trying to say, but I've been runnning on synthetic oil for a long time now and it did wonders. The filter is the newbie on my bike, after that, things have changed a lot..! It feels so different. !!!

please tell me one thing, while asking for jets, should i aks for specific bike's jets or should i ask for specific sizes. ?
where do u suggest i get the jets ? Showroom or local spares shops.

Back to to the incident of re-jetting and my k&n.
I really dont find any good being done nowadays..!!!
This is what I have been noticing
    1. Engine has become very rough( ppl used to say my 180's engine was the smoothest they've ever ridden)
    2. Gearbox became very hard. ( It used to be great after I put Castrol Power 1 Racing)
    3. engine goes off suddenly ( is this called mis-firing??)
    I dunnno why, I have up-jetted from my 117.5 P180's jets to a ZMA's 125 jets.
    4. I get funny smells from the engine/carb most of the times ( dunnno if i am running rich)

As someone on the forum rightly said " go for it only if u want the sound"
I am planning to revert back to stock to atleast save my engine

    Any advice is most welcome

Dude, all these problems is because of a undesirable mechanic's wonders!!! Dude, seroulsly one needs patience in choosing the jets and needs through understanding about ur bike and the way it handles with different jets!!! Not all jets are readymades for ur bike!! U get funny smell because of the over rich mixture that u've done to ur bike. "Engine very rough" dosen't have to be necessarily cos of a K&N and up-jetting might be the engine oil whose the culprit making ur gear box also rough and every thing has become a co-incidence in ur instance that makes u think it's only cos of the mod that u did. Cant help human nature! Given a K&N and the correct Jet in the right hands can do wonders!!!! and btw i have this setup for more than a year and no problems since then!! But then there is always some Valuble time needed to invest to get good results!!!!

Hehe...!!!! Its not only about not having enough knowledge, its about hitting the right Air-fuel( AF) mixture. And this happens only on basis of trial and error. I'm talking about re-jetting.

When we fix and aftermarket performance air filter, we basically are making changes to stock settings.

Too much air makes the AF mixture LEAN
Too much fuel makes the AF mixture RICH.
The carb can also be tuned to set the AF mix.

go for a long ride and at full throttle(compulsury) and the bike should not stumble at any point, let it be in traffic or on a highway...
then reduce the jet size and keep doing it untill u hit the right size.. then replace it with the next smallker size and see if there is any diff in the pick up and 0~60 timing and rpm's...u can use the correct one or the next smaller one to be on the milage side too...generally a +4~+6 size would be enough..
thanks a lot Dogg... what is synthetics(u mean synthetic oil)???
ya my bike is now 4 months old but 8700+kms now... Long rides is not a probs... coz i like touring... so +4 or +6 jet is what u prefer rite?
and which model of K&N is good??? i mean usually everyone use the base model RC1060, is R1100 suits my bike???

They don increase performance, but they do give a crisper throttle response and better cold starts/idling.

Dude, never under estimate iridium plugs, they do their job by giving out a clean and a constant spark thus improving acceleration and also think about cold starts!! Then, u'll know the importance of iridium plugs!

and about the sprocketting... i can't understand that part much(pardon me)... so which combination(higher/lesser teeth) is good(means for a good top end and the initial pickup must be of the stock condition)... any probs to the engine by doing sprocketting...
Dude, u can change to stock air filter & jets once u wish to normalise ur bike, but that will be time consuming!

Regarding the sprocketing, keeping it simple:

More teeth in Rear Sprocket - Less top end and more initial pick-up

Less teeth in Rear Sprocket - More top end and less initial pick-up
