  • Looking for a new faithful steed...

My daily travel is 30km. Part in traffic, part on open roads. Looking for a bike that has got good performance, good mileage and is reliable. Have planned some long tours with friends, so the bike should be comfortable to ride.
I have been riding a Splendor NXG (black alloy wheels edition) for the past 2 years, and I love its comfort and mileage. The pickup is quite decent for a 100cc bike, and though top speeds aren't high, the bike sure feels smooth and responsive all the way. And the bike is quite suited for my height of 5feet 11inches. Add to that the reliability that Hero Honda has, and excellent service.
What will be a good choice? The Pulsar 135LS, Pulsar 150, or any other bike recommended by my fellow xBhp-ians...taking all the above factors into account?? Heard a number of people give negative views on the 135LS, so I think it best the xBhp-ians tell me... 'Coz I know I'll get an unbiased opinion.

            Budget required

Also, how much mileage do you consider as good, i consider 40 as very good average for my karizma-R

              Easy mate!!!

@anirban13 : Seeing the options you mentioned am assuming your budget's somewhere close to 65-70k...right?

Try out a Honda Dazzler...Its more responsive than most of the 150s out there and returns a decent mileage (~50-55kmpl)...And teh reliability is unquestionable considering its a HONDA

P.S : Just checked...You are from my hometown

Assuming you want Indian bikes, And taking your height and other requirements into account I'd suggest, p180, Apache 180, Unicorn, dazzler, cbz xtreme. All these bikes are good on performance, give decent mileage and are easy to maneuver in traffic, they are not high on maintanence. I feel the above mentioned will be perfect as an upgrade from what you ride presently. If budget is not an issue there are other bikes that can be considered!

                That aggression is unwarranted for.

After a lot of thought, its now the choice of bike thats difficult, not the budget. I should have specified the budget earlier but at that time it just slipped my mind. Sorry, everyone.

I've shortlisted the Pulsar 135, 150, Apache RTR 160, Unicorn Dazzler, CBZ Xtreme and Suzuki GS150R. Now its among these that I'm finding it difficult to choose.

Also, I'd be happy to know how much mileage the Pulsar 135LS and the 150 give in city riding conditions. My gut says to go for the pulsars, but I cant decide in between the 135 and the 150.

@happybiking: gr8 to have someone here from my hometown!

The bikes you have shortlisted are from which list by the way :P as all are different in its own ways Pulsar 150 apache good pik up vehicles , suzuki top end performer good mileage as i have heard good value for money , after riding splendor i think you will have mileage in mind so go for mileage bike gs150 or dazler

@anirban13 - Good to know you are all set to buy a new bike, a good start !!

I know how difficult it is to select a bike (I was through this for last 1 week) though I was buying my 3rd bike. From the list what you have given, I will go for CBZ xtreme (you also told that HH got good servicing at your end). I have read some where today that this is the only bike which was discussed least in xbhp for any issue , so we can take from this is that bike good !!!
Pulsar 150 don't carry the quality which it used to do some time back.

Please read alot of reviews and talk to as many people as possible who own a vehicle. test drive few to see which one suits you well. I sat on R15 and felt I met my soul mate . Try doing so, you will get yours too !!!

i own one...and what negative feedback have you got about it ??
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Go for P135LS.. it's an awesome bike, you can check the ownership thread for P135LS, doesn't have any serious issues. If you have extra money to spend on bike you can very well go for bigger 150cc's.

thank you all I'll certainly try and speak to as many bike owners as possible, and try my best to take the bikes on a test drive. I'll take my time, as i am in no hurry to buy it. I'd rather not have a single regret after bringing the bike home!

And its true that after sitting on the bike, its as if the bike speaks to me. On the road it gives a feeling of oneness with the rider. I'm sure there will be just ONE bike that will give such a feeling, and that's the bike I'm bringing home!

So the scales are pretty much tipped in favour of the Pulsar 135. I'll go through the ownership forum for it, to get valuable opinion from owners.

Regarding the negative feedback, someone told me the 135 is unstable and wobbles at high speed, and another said its uncomfortable to ride for tall guys. A lot of others said a lot of things, but I'm sure by now that they were just either out of jealousy, or just the fact that they cannot see past a particular brand!

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to all my fellow xbhp-ians!
