  • Bike For College Commuting, RTR or other...

    Hello Riders.
I am just 18. I have already owned A pulsar 220 and I am very disappointed with With my first bike . The bike has given me Many problems I am now planning to sell this bike and buy a new one. I am some how inclined to Apache RTR 180 or 160. I want a bike which provides me a Good Mileage, Pick-up as well as looks. After all I am just a college guy. I commute mostly in cities. So therefore I need something that works out awesomely in traffic as well as highways too..... I am not much of a tourer but I do go out for touring twice or thrice a year. Please suggest me a bike which will be the best ones for Mumbai traffic and also for long highways.
Waiting for your much valuable comments and suggestions riders especially RTR owners. Thank you.

Seldom i get across such requirements from members here in xBhp which forces me to recommend the RTRs.This is an exception!!

If you are inclined towards the RTR, go for it but i would say wait till September as refurbished versions of RTR series would make their way,by then.If you are in a hurry, then RTR 180 is the bike to go for and will fulfill all your requirements with ease. It returns decent mileage for the performance it delivers and is hoot to ride/rip.

Sir, What about the maintenance.? Is it good. Because Sir I have been told by many as the bike belongs to an Indian company its is less reliable. What do you say.?
I am mostly waiting for September only sir. The best part is I purchased a 220 last year on my birthday which falls in September and this year i Hope i will get my hands on this street fighter.

Have already a P220 and need to change it? can you explain what's the problem you have faced? may be P220 owners can help you solve the problem... i am telling this because i don't think any other(leave Ninja250) bike upgrade is not really worth it if you have a P200 as for your requirements...

Don't think i am discouraging you, if you really think you need another bike then go for RTR180, but at the end i don't think its a worthy upgrade...

The 220 owners cant help. The Engineers themselves at the service station are tired of working on it. I am selling the bike to company itself. The bike at the best riding conditions does not return an average above 15-20 kmpl. The bike has been giving me problems just 10 minutes after the delivery of the bike. The brakes do not work. I have a broken limb coz of this bike. Although I dont want to sell P220 . This bike is very hazardous to my life. Its not that i ride rough but may be some other factors. The other day suddenly the carburettor of the bike came off at the speed of 50. May be its just the bad luck.I dont know but i do not have the guts to ride something which does not favor my needs and is hazardous to my life. I am really not upgrading dude. I just want something to commute in the hell bound traffic in Mumbai. Next bike after this is surely going to be something upwards 500 cc which i can afford after i start earning myself.

We already have seen one of the xBhpian suffering from this problem.

                @RISHIS

Maintenance is similar to the bikes you see in the segment.Dont worry about the bike being reliable or not. Vibrations are the only thing you need to watch out for as some people find it tough getting used to.

RTR, FZ, Dazzler are your best bets...

Wait for a few weeks for the SZ to be out as well

Vibrations as in the fairing ones.?I dont mind getting used to them after riding P220 I am sure i can get used to any other bike. I am so very dissapointed with Bajaj. Lets Hope TVS makes me smile.

Dazzler is not the best of options. Spending 74000 for a bike which does not suit yourself. I am 6 feet 72 kgs. The other day i sat on one Dazzler it looked like a small well crafted cycle. I seriously cannot make out the difference in twister and dazzler until I read the names. I am planning to wait till September as i will be turning 19. So hoping to get it on my birthday. Last birthday i purchased Pulsar 220 , This one mostly RTR . Hey any news about the ABS option in RTR

That leaves RTR (which is apparently smaller too!)

@Satyen don't make this guy confused... He's already inclined to the RTR, isn't?
If you find Dazzler too small for your size then RTR is not so different, hope you have ridden the RTR... else take a TD and come back... if it doesn't make you smile, the doctor will prescribe another...

Satyen the FZ do not provide with a mileage above 30. My neighbour is already quite dissapointed. Even in the most normal riding conditions the bike does not provide a good mileage. I am also considering Unicorn , but it has those normal commuter looks same goes for suzuki gs 150 r . If i take it to college people will think i have bought my dads bike to college . I am hoping for new variants. But i am still not able to convince myself that does the TVS has a good after sales service. That is my main concern fellas .......

Cool, then wait for the RTR Hyper Edge to come...speculated to be launched in September 10.
Service is an issue with almost everyone... you can probably ask this question on the ownership thread if you are clear about the RTR
