It's not that sports bikes are my only first love. I have equal fetish for low slung cruisers like the Street Bob, Fat Boy low etc.Originally posted by srisetty View PostAgree with this. Also, why don't you check out Ninja 650?
Moreover, I have already tried my hand at R15. Although it is, by no means, a super bike, it defintely gives a feel of the riding position and handling of one. So when I want to try cruisers, I genuinely mean it. Sorry if my previous post had given different signals.
And when it comes to Ninja 650R, NOM, I am not a big fan of sports tourers yet. May be will try out in future, but not as of now.
Exactly..No bike is perfect. So will need to check out the good and bad of every bike and finalize which one is worth living with those drawbacks.Originally posted by aargee View PostDepends what you want in life with the money in hand...
Do you want your money to buy a bike with 1960's looks, 3 coats of paint, loads of chrome? OR...
Seek for a product that gives 100% value for your money.
The answer depends upon what you choose above.Last edited by Gowri; 06-15-2011, 11:17 AM.Thanks,

^^^ some clarity now
Remember that buying a Harley might make you buy lot of other stuff. Be ready to spend more $$$. I am saying this from my personal experience
. Beware if you are a shopaholic
.
On positive side, you will get to ride a beautiful little monster. It can be customized to a very large extent till you run out of $$$. Even without any changes, Harley gets lot of attention. I had been to Pro-biking showroom to checkout N650R and my Iron 883 was getting more attention even from the showroom staff.
Another aspect is about the riding group. With a Harley, you will immediately get to enter a totally new world of Harley riders and of course HOG. The group rides on Harleys are a showstoppers on the road
.
I have not tried ST7 and cannot comment on its character. IMHO, if you just want a cruiser and more interested in VFM, pick up an ST7. If you are interested in being part of a legendary rider community, and don't mind looking at "bugs" as "features", pick up a Super Low
.

Yea, you can say I am an impulsive shopper. If I am buying Superlow, I have already decided to customize it with forward controls (costs Rs 27k/-
) and if possible, Skull theme.
As a Harley owner, can you please throw some light on service schedule and how much it would cost? Also some light on mileage and performance characteristics would be great.Last edited by Gowri; 06-15-2011, 02:45 PM.Thanks,

Forward controls is a good start. Once you ride with other Harleys, you might immediately jump on Screaming Eagles.Originally posted by Gowri View PostThanks a lot. I am just a little worried about the looks of SuperLow.

1st Service is 1600kms. Next is every 8000 kms or every six months. Cost of service with oil (syn) is around 5K.
Mileage on highways in 23. Never checked in city, guess around 18.
Hope this helps.IBA 47577

I know it is blasphemous to ask about mileage of Harleys or any other super bikes. But when we decide to buy, I think one should understand his bike, it's range (fuel capacity * mileage/litre) etc.Originally posted by aargee View Post

Thanks a lot. This is awesome info. Are there no free services?Originally posted by srisetty View PostForward controls is a good start. Once you ride with other Harleys, you might immediately jump on Screaming Eagles.

Once I take a look at the ST7, I will decide and go ahead with my plans. I just want to give the Hyosung a chance. Thanks,

come on!!! why cant mileage be asked . I mean when i buy a 10L car i consider the mileage a lot. so why not the same about a bike that would end up doing significant distances. specially when when the bikes have such small fuel tanks that range is limited specially while touring.Originally posted by aargee View Post

that being said it shouldn't be the first question on the mind. But acting like it doesnt matter is a bit snobbish. no offence meant to anyone. Why is the man who invests all your money, called a broker?

Can you give more details on what you felt was wrong with paint and chrome??Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Posti din't like the ST7 much after i saw it in flesh..finishing isn't quiet good..paint isn't that good as well along with chrome parts..haven't seen Superlow in flesh but m sure it'll be better then ST7 in terms of build quality..though comfort level of ST7 was nice too..
My pick would definitely be a Harley..
ST7 beats HD Superlow hands down in lower seat height, longer wheelbase and a higher ground clearance. So it's hard to ignore. Thanks,

@gowri: I do not own either of them but had a look n feel for a short duration. Both bikes even though from Cruiser class have different character (though true for all bikes; this is especially true as it shows in the way Koreans and Americans drafted the bikes).
If I had to decide for myself; I will go with HD. You are doing the right thing to TD and feel the bike and get to know more before you invest.
I felt more comfortable with the whole idea of being part of HOG and idea was well cushioned as Harley carries more weight as a brand. Have personally seen their CEO working on details as he is hell bent to make HD work in India; he occupied adjacent room to our office hotel in Gurgaon. I was sold to the brand there and then.

Diavel was somewhere around 25 lacs OTR in Mumbai and it is one huge compact machineOriginally posted by Gowri View PostBuddy..Diavel is not just a cruiser; It is everything. I think it would cost around 30lacs in India. Am a big fan of the Devil too :-)
when I say huge i mean the width and compact i.e Length
From the pics and reviews that I have come across, ST7 feels more like poor man's Fatboy-ish kinda cruiser (completely agree) which is GOOD ! love the stance, like a true cruiser, you might feel like I own the road but may be with few flaws here and there like plastic quality but to be honest none of the bikes are perfect, you loose some and you gain some , depends which of those is important from your perspective.
On the other hand, HD might have an edge over ST7 when it comes to handling in city traffic and may be on the twisties too becoz of its setup (ergo, wheelbase), and may be easy to live (compared to ST7 ie).. the cost of future customization which can be good or bad ( depends on the individual's bank account status after buying one :P).... I am not a fan of the white Superlow looks
, i too prefer ST7 anyday (may be 883 would make me think) the paint quality might be great on HD (I personally like the powder coat finish on all HDs, but since this is all chrome is great!)...Not sure what are the colors on offer ?
Bottom line is since you are upgrading from r15 , guess both of these machines will blow your mind and draw a lot of attention too.
You will have fun with both !tour-master on exile

Still....no clear winner. Both bikes take turns to make me drool over them.Originally posted by roshan3440 View PostDiavel was somewhere around 25 lacs OTR in Mumbai and it is one huge compact machine

I am going to keep the R15 as well. It's not a bike that I can part with.
The wheelbase of ST7 being longer, makes it more cruiser characteristics; While the shorter wheelbase in SuperLow helps in better handling. Yea, the white and orange superlow has more `candy` like feeling. But the Merlot sunglow is very good. On the otehrside, ST7 comes in Red, white and black. Red looks stunning and black is good too. White looks like Milky bar chocolate :-PThanks,

r15 guess is good for commuting when you have ST7/Superlow for weekend rides... Anyhow cruisers in Black are probably the best looking ones as Black goes well with so much of chrome. Cruisers in White - Not for me
... Red can be good on a sunny day, but Black cruiser looks uber cool day/night!
Best of luck with the decision becoz I know it aint gonna be easy

I said that white looks like chocolates to mean that it's not for me. If it's the SuperLow, I will go with the Merlot SunGlo. If it's the ST7, then either red or black.Originally posted by roshan3440 View PostAll I could say from the above is that you like chocolates lol...

In neither case, will it be white :-).
I have to wait until the Hyosung comes to Bangalore to take a test ride of ST7. And also wait until Harley gives SuperLow for test ride (if not find some owner who will :$)Last edited by Gowri; 06-20-2011, 02:41 PM.Thanks,
