  • Which bike "Unicorn or Fazer or Apache"

    Dear friends,

Currently I own TVS Flame 125cc and planning to buy a new bike but confused of which one to go with. I use it for city rides and for short rides of around 150 to 200 kms a day.

Can you just let me know which one to go with.......
    38
    Honda Unicorn
    21.05%
    8
    TVS Apache
    44.74%
    17
    Yamaha Fazer
    34.21%
    13

    The poll is expired.

I don't know where the bike ends and I begin...If heaven doesn't allow bikes..I'll ride mine straight to hell.

and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.

        Go for UNICORN..

its a superb bike in terms of reliability /comfort and mileage.

sitting position is Upright which will suits your long distance drive.
its a miniature of ZMA with higher mileage.

Looking at your demands of 150-200 kms/day & city riding,I suggest you Suzuki GS150R instead of Unicorn,as you must know Honda servicing is bad & most of their products have defects.Suzuki's servicing is really good & GS150R is a high quality 150cc bike with very less maintenance & no much complaints, best in its class for long riding,no vibrations even at speeds above 80km/hr & top speed....now this bike is also good for city riding as the new model has better intial pickup. So I recommend you Suzuki GS150R,its a true value for money product.

Yamaha Fazer is also a good bike,FE is low & maintenance is also very high but if for a city rides this bike will be good, not that good for long riding.
Apache is only good for short city rides, the seating poistion is not that comfortable aspecially for long riding & vibrates badly at high speeds.I recommend you Suzuki GS150R.

More inputs please. And instead of buying a fazer, you can opt for fz and save 10k bucks.

                    Hmmm.

The GS150R is indeed better than Honda Unicorn as it has 6 speed gearbox and no vibration due to good stabilizing crank shaft design, and gives bit better mileage and is also heavy and good for well built persons.

But this doesnt warrant to view your decision without any proof that Honda products have defects, and if at all they find even a small defect, they recall it. I can state that only drawback with going for a Honda would be investing more on bike and the cost of spares is a little higher. A kind note to you as a matter of fact the Suzuki has much more complaints and issues of less regional service centers , the proper servicing skills for the bikes as suzuki keeps updating models and so non availability of spares in general will be high, you will need to book it and get which means your bike will be staying over at service center for long time if there is a major overhaul.

Your view on Fazer is also wrong! Just as useful in city the actual bike is mainly designed for premium long rides and highway use. Very comfy suspension and rider position, low center of gravity and wide rear tyres for the best grip on high speeds, aerodynamic scoops, dual headlight for more bightness in wide highway roads etc factor to the better biking on highway. The engines cool very fast and are built for rugged environment and long rides and our Yamaha service interval is at every 3000km and yamaha spares are actually the cheapest and easily available out of the trio of japanese makes i.e honda/suzuki/yamaha, so dont say that its costly without knowing how much the spares cost. And yes the fuel economy is about 40+ on highways when compared to 50+ that you may get in honda or suzuki, but Yamaha Fazers's are always designed for performing the best in handling and grip, safety at cost of sacrifice to mileage.

There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I'm saying this from my own experience,my friend brought a Unicorn & just in a week the engine started malfunctioning & overheating,we took the bike to the service centre, they did something saying it has been fixed..next day again the same problem again began...finally they said the bike has a manufacturing defect...more over the servicing mechanics & salesmen are not well-experienced...I also have read many other complaints & reviews, this is the case in almost all Honda showrooms & with most Honda bikes.

Most of Honda's have defects? Ur joking. Isn't is lesser than Suzuki?

In between the OT has narrowed down to 3 choices so lets help him choose one of them. GS 150R and Pulsar 150 are also very good bikes in that segment but he has not narrowed down to them.

Personally I would say the Apache or Unicorn Dazzler. Fazer is overpriced and FE is very low and after sales quite expensive. If you want pure looks ignoring these factors then Fazer rules the roost here.

Also do not go for old Unicorn. Its quite dated now. The showrooms have them in plenty and would recommend you but go for dazzler. The dazzler would be much better. Dazzler has grunt which old Unicorn lacks badly.

probable reason:lower road tax than karnataka.
