Dukes are known to return 40+ easily on highways(fast). In super Eco-mode, this can go all the way up to 60+. So the mileage is dependent on how you ride it. R15 is no mileage champion in comparison, I know about a stock R15 which returns same Highway FE as a CBR1000RR, Another one I know of returns 52kmpl. So base your decision on these facts, and don't assume that Duke will most certainly return less FE than R15..

Add RTR180ABS to this lineup and the Pulsar will suddenly start making a hell lot more sense

Interested in full fairings? Go for r15.... But its comman now a days..
For exclusivity, go for duke 200... Awesome and best power and sound in its category....
Budget dropped under 1 lak...? P200 ns is the best of now within the price...

yar, you won't believe me i've been thinking along the same lines and that's why i haven't been able to discuss the prospect of buying a bike with him. Yes i definitely need a bike. I love biking and regarding financials, i come from a middle class family, i know we can afford a 1.4 lacs bike but still i know that buying a bike from YOUR money is a unbeatable feeling. Am just confused like hell......DARN IT !!

dad's hard-earned money=the reason i backed out from owning a duke,dad was happy to give it but for some reason i was not happy,i am enthusiast by heart but i don't need a fancy bike to prove it,he is already paying hefty for my mbbs study,so the next high end bike will be with my own money,
the passion is just budding,give it some time to shape properly.

I agree with you mate, it's just i'm sorta perfectionist and bikes which i find perfect(from a enthusiast's eye) are a little on the costlier side...... :/

I would suggest taking a look at Pulsar 200NS if u arent in a hurry.. I think it would be a good option..

If u are looking at Duke and R15 then CBR 150R deserves a look too...
The build quality is good and also CBR 250 initial lot had build quality issues
not the subsequent ones..

i can tell u if u check out the ownership thread for cbr 150r u will find one owner has said he was getting 50Kmpl+ during his run in period..

My first service is still due so, I personally wont be able to tell u the mileage..
But, showroom guys were saying u can get easily 45kmpl.. so, 40kmpl aint an

Pros:
1. Very comfortable seat and seating posture.
2. Blisteringly fast.(From any rpm)
3. Purely a street bike(short gearing ratios)
4. Naked looks(depends)
5. Even with the short gearing ratios the bike can cruise at 100-120 easily.
6. Looks simple and has no unnecessary parts.
7. Ultra flickable!!
8. Sounds great!!
9. The multimeter is one of the best I've seen!! Plenty of info!!

Cons:
1. Overheating a common problem.
2. Fuel tank capacity 10.5lts
3. Plastic tank cover(good in a way)
4. Off roading is a strict no no.
5. Mileage 30-40kmpl normal city conditions(should get better on highways)
6. The worst pillion seat I've ever sat on!!!
7. Only side stand

R15V2.0
Pros:
1. Killer looks!! Grabs attention.
2. Nice colour options
3. Returns 40kmpl in city
4. Cruising at 100kmph is like peanuts.
5. Cornering is definitely fun

Cons:
1. Too sporty for urban roads. Start stop traffic on a R15 is something you don't want to experience.
2. Gearing ratios too tall. Needs frequent shifting especially with pillion and hill riding.
3. To get the juice out the bike needs to be revved almost to its redline which is merely possible in cities.(And not intended to)
4. Pillion seat!!(I laughed badly when I saw the V2.0 the first time, while my friends were puzzled why?? No grab!!! You'll need to hug the rider) Its like you'll fall of if the rider decides to downshift and redline suddenly!!

So decide first on what you are looking for. I suggest drop both of them. R15 not practical choice and duke though a good bike is facing problems with its initial batch. Like someone said go for the Karizma. I know it sounds stupid to suggest this bike but the bike has proven simple too much. Or wait for the NS200. CBR150R looks nice but overpriced(badly) and lacks lot of features.

^^^ Not sure if it crossed your mind, a lot of -ves you mentioned for Duke 200 are applicable for R15 as well.. for example, strictly no off roading, plastic covered tank, only side stand etc.

@TS, if most of your riding happens in city Duke should be the one, if not you can settle for P200NS. R15 looks good, no doubt but if you frequently encounter start-stop city traffic, then it's no fun, you will regret it badly.

Man, i will be riding in gurgaon so i guess start and stop traffic won't be avoidable. then R15 is out of the equation i guess?

how can there be such a drastic difference between R15's and cbr150r's mileage? i mean they are similiar to a considerable extent. The difference of 20 kmpl is tooo much :O
