  • Re: Daily Commute that does NOT compromise on Comfort

Hi I am looking for a daily commuter bike and below are my requirements.

    1. Budget- max 1.6Lakhs

    2. Age- 33

    3. Height-5.8

    4. Weight-60

    5. Intended usage- Office commute max 3 days and 2 days in car.

    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement- 40kmpl is good to have minimal

    7. City & Highway - 95/05

    8. Approximate Daily running - 50+kms

    9. City - Bangalore

    10. Brand preference- Any popular brand with good ASS and brand value(reliable and less maintaining cost)

Previously I was using Avenger 220 and I have sold it 3 months back.

KTM Duke 200 is in my mind(not done the test drive)but heard from many friends and forums that, it has harsh ride quality and every patch on the road will be felt on spine so looking for a good alternative.

Please guide me in picking the right bike and I will be more inclined towards best comfortable ride quality and it should be be very peppy to drive.

      Hi there
Your requirements specify that you require a Mini-Sports Tourer. Considering your budget, I would suggest you the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
      - It comes within your budget.
      - Does age matter while choosing bikes?
      - My friend who is 6.0" tall well accommodates himself on the bike. Thanks to the ergonomics, you won't get any backpain.
      - You won't be a burden on your bike, thanks to your light weight!
      - It is a good commuter, In fact better than most competitor bikes.
      - Not sure about the FE. It actually depends upon your riding habits. It would return around 35kmpl. in mixed riding conditions, but I seriously doubt whether you would be able to control the adrenaline rush while riding this beast
      - You would be getting good of both worlds from this bike. This bike is a very relaxed tourer and a comfortable commuter.
      - It won't be very difficult on this bike. I have myself ridden this bike more than 80kms. in mixed conditions in a day. RS200 is a good highway performer
      - City does't matter
      - Bajaj Pulsar is a well renowned brand in India. Bajaj ASS is overall average. Some SVC's are pathetic while others are good. P.L. Motors in Jaipur is a good SVC, no idea about Bajaj SVC's in Bangalore, though I always prefer Castrol Bike Point, they are more experienced and knowledgeful than Bajaj itself!

KTM Duke 200 is a good bike, some of my friends have it. It too fulfills your requirement but I've read and heared that KTM bikes have heating issues. Not sure about that but RS200 would be the best option. Its very peppy too!

      Good Luck!
Ride Safe after getting the new bike!

Hi, Same here i was waiting for the Auto Expo to finish, but alas no new bikes which i liked. Except UM Motorcycles and Suzuki Gixxer SF disc and Fi, nothing new came out in this price range.
Didnt like any of them. I like sports tourer kindof look, a machine which is fully / half faired and has a refined engine. My choices were the RS200, AS 200 and the new 2015 CBR150R and budget below 1.5 lac.

Yesterday i had a chance to go to the Honda showroom and checkout the new 2015 blue and black CBR 150R its within my budget and it felt just awesome. Am not a speed freak, so i loved its refined engine and smooth gears. Am thinking to buy it, as no other bike below 1.5 lac gave me this much satisfaction in terms of looks and performance ( if we dont consider top speed ). My travel is around 10km one way daily to office on busy traffic roads(bangalore). During the the test drive i found the CBR to give the smoothest and cleanest of ride. RS200 was good but the looks are little debatable. What you say guys , is it worth getting the 2015 CBR 150r for daily office commuting and occasional touring on weekends ? And how good are the baby CBRs in terms of back pain issues ? ( Am 6.1ft and 76 kgs, muscular built and have little back pain due to riding on my old cbz ).
          Comfortable ride is my priority.

Really disappointed with auto expo there is no much release on the 200-250 side.
i was really expecting new R15 v3 or any 250 from Yamaha to compete against cbr but disappointed with their show.
Any how I haven't made up my mind to buy because my priority is ride quality and safety ABS,so only 2 bikes provides this in my price range 1.RS200 2.CBR 250.
RS is well in the budget but considering previous experience with Bajaj hesitate to buy,as Bajaj will normally age faster and this bike is having half baked ABS.
CBR will exceed my budget and feel it's not VFM.
If anybody feels to add good bike please do so I will test drive and will buy.
            Thanks in advance.

Buy a used CBR with ABS. Sadly not too many options with ABS. THE MOJO was slated to release with ABS in April last I heard.
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Right now, i reallly think the Bajaj V15 is a great option. It's an amalgamation of various bike forms from a Cafe-Racer to a Crusier, but i hear the ride is very comfortable.
Not to mention the Patriotic factor associated with the bike. You're essentially buying a piece of INS Vikrant - the first Aircraft-carrier built in India.
Also, it's priced right, about 66,000/-
So a fair deal, all in all.

                  Hi All,

I am in the market for getting a commuter bike. I am in Bangalore and my commute distance is 8kms one way. I have shortlisted the below bikes:

                  1. TVS Victor - Total VFM. Rs.65000 OTR in Bangalore.
                  2. Honda Dream Neo - Rs.59,000 OTR
                  3. Honda Dream Yuga - Rs.63,000 OTR

Looking for a bike below Rs.70,000 OTR in Bangalore. I checked Bajaj showrooms but their response is bad and there are no test rides for most of the bikes.

Is TVS victor a wise decision for me? I did a test drive and it looks comfortable and has many features compared to Honda, but will it be reliable? Seeking your opinions on this.

                  Thank you!
