I am looking for something as agile as rx and powerful than 150.
Options considered are Apache 180,p220,xtreem. Please suggest which would be a good commuter for zipping between the traffic swiftly and occasional Highway ride..
Start slow, Indian traffic has changed in 10yrs! Try honda unicorn 160 new one. But I wouldn't recommend you to commute 18km x2 each day. first begin with 1-2 days by moto, the rest by car/whatever you are doing now. Ride safe!

    * all three you pointed are old bikes n they may go out of production soon. Avoid buying them new.

I own an Hayate and Have ridden the bike over 20K Kms. The engine is very good. There can be an issue with gear shifts, But the bike is awesome and vibe free till 75Kms
Milegae is as per your wish. On road its the cheapest and i have even driven long rides and my Brother the official owner of the bike has also taken it uphills with pillions and the bike survives with juice. If your willing to sacrifice on transmission, this bike is great. But your preference is very important.

Also I used to own a platina. cant take it on long rides like the hayate. Hayate survived a single stretch ride of 500Kms one way with 4 to 5 5mins stops. and comfort is generous on the bike.

For your need suzuki gsxr 150 is perfect fit imo .. Comfy , powerful engine, mileage is good , plus a 6 speed gearbox that will help in highway cruising ..

Checked with Noida Suzuki. As per them the company has stopped the production of the GS. The co website still shows the GS.
I travel daily 160 kms to and from work on a 2 year old P220. 80% highways 20% city office traffic. Please suggest me a bike which can endure 3500 kms a month. My 220 vibrates like a tractor resulting in fatigue and joint pains.
Checked the Gixxer. Felt it was low on power.
Unicorn 160 did not feel smooth and was jerky.
FZ felt too low on torque
Liked the Avy riding position but it is scheduled for a makeover.
Am not too high on budget, below a lakh.
Which bike can endure the grind

After P220, any 150cc you ride will feel underpowered. If you can digest the looks of the new Karizma R, get it. Or even get an old model in the used bike market. Very little vibrations, great for highways, similar mileage to P220 and decent service. Only thing is that spares are a little more expensive and you won't get the power as in a P220. But Karizma is no slouch either. I would also suggest you too look into a used CBR250 ABS. ABS versions are available for 1lakh easily. Just make sure the bike is maintained well and you have a good Honda service centre. Mind you certain CBR spares are hard to get. The old avy is comfy but is pain in the rear to ride inside city. Also it vibrates badly beyond 80kmph and feels strained. The new avy is likely to get the NS200 engine but I am not sure how that will work out since cruisers should have good low end torque. You could also look into a used CBR150R. It has a comfortable riding position and has good top end power. However, low end torque is non-existent. You could also look into NS/AS200. Ages ahead of P220 in terms of refinement so vibes are much lesser.

                  Hey guys,

I need to buy a 150cc commuter for daily office travel, occasional road trips. The main criteria is no vibrations, comfort, decent mileage, good pillion seat for my mom, dad and wife. Previously I owned a SS125 for 3 years which I sold recently.

I zeroed in on Suzuki GS150R (not gixxer owing to pillion comfort), top notch build quality, overdrive 6th gear, a complete package if not for the commuterish look. I have seen the GSX-R super bike and wondered this bike is a stripped down version, but unlucky this bike doesnt draw major response. But, i need a quality product and i ride sane, so decided to purchase this one. But, after reading the forums I doubt if Suzuki will stop this bike creating problems in ASS.

Please let me know if II should proceed with buying this bike. Any other valuable suggestions are welcome.

Somewhere I hear that the production of GS150R has come to halt or will come to halt. My sources could be wrong. But its a aged model now so it will pushed out of the market anytime soon.

AFAIK, apart from gs150r no bike has 6th gear in the commuter 150cc segment, want a sixth gear go for premium 150-200cc segment.

If commuting is the sole thing you are looking for why not try the yamaha SZ series, livio and unicorm from Honda stable both are nice bikes when coming to the task of commuting. And as you have mentioned that the pillion should be happy, I would personally suggest honda unicorn or if you are lucky you may find a gs150r.

I have read some part of the gs150r thread it is makhan(butter) smooth and it looks hot and the japanese reliability

If you can extend tge budget the lots of premium sub 200cc options, but you have to make adjustments here and there and the big one, sacrificing a bit of pillion comfort on these bikes.

                    Cheers,
                    Sanjay

Thanks to fellow xBhpians for such an informative thread.
I have been following this forum for quite some times, and thinking to buy new bike.
My current one is CBZ Xtreme(2007 model) but due to LOW mileage (45-50) thinking to sell it and buy new one.

                      1. Bike should be reliable, good handler and able to cruise at 70-80 with ease and vibe-free.
                      2. I will be riding the bike daily for 110KM mostly on highways (80%) & city (20%)
                      3. FE is a BIG thing (Should be more than 55-60)
                      4. Seating & riding position should be extremely comfortable
                      5. Budget is around 60K not more.

                      Please suggest options.

I'd prefer gs 150 since it has best fuel economy and a very reliable engine.

GS150 has been stopped, so checked CB Unicorn 160.
But due to budget constraint I will be happy with 125CC also. Still have more options but due to office work load I am not able to get time to check everything.
                          I will keep updating.

After tding all three I finalized 220f considering the riding positions and the power. Also checked as 200 but wify was not comfortable with the pillion seating position.
Completed 300 km till now not faced any issues .
