i dont like the p200ns because its too common on the road after the launch of p200ns i have seen ten of them.but ktm duke i have seen only one which is of my best friend.i have taken test drive of both rides i love ktm duke 200...and about cbr 250r its only negative point is its build quality.duke has the fastest 0-60 speed time 3.3 sec and its build quality is better than cbr.if one can take the bike for 99,000/- than he add 35k and take ktm duke..

I guessed you start a search before booking it there. Becuase 90 days i sway beyond expectation.

And i see insurance is also at higher side, get your vehicle financed throuh yourself by bank. Bank give better insurance on bikes compare to Dealers quotation. you call by bak customer service and get details or visit websites. HDFC is nice is this.

My friend was quoted some Rs1.X K for 1 yr insurance, where as he was offered something 1.8K for 2 yrs insurance.

This was HDFC bank. But you have to take loan thruogh them only. They give insurance with it only.

                        Pulsar 200 NS

Pulsar 200NS seems to be the best since the horse power is close to 24bhp just may be 2bhp's lesser than duke and with 110000 bucks it a sure value for money..go for duke if you want higher servicing and spare costs, build quality of duke is not exotic(not european), considering 140000 bucks!

This seems to be the most foolish statement in this whole thread. If you don't have a Duke, and never visited the KTM service why you are suggesting something which is absolutely false.

First of all horsepower is not the one and only criteria that should be considered before buying a bike. There are endless factors like power and torque curve, ergonomics, build quality, handling and cornering ability, straightline stability, high speed stability, pillion comfort(if applicable), mileage, maintenance cost etc. etc. And most importantly braking power and stability while hard braking. Now please don't always site only horsepower difference when suggesting a bike.

Now, I have not ridden the p200ns, but heard good reviews about it. But your statement on Duke is totally wrong. Duke has one of the best build quality amongst it's peers. It's even better that CBR 250(higher priced than Duke). The plastics are real good and paint quality is top notch.

Now coming to the spare parts cost. The clutch and brake levers cost 90 - 100 bucks and front fender/mudguard costs some 750 bucks. I have changed them so I can confirm this. Also I have heard that the other normal parts are cheap too. Duke is made in India and most spare parts are at par with pulsar 220. So, please don't pass on comments without knowing the truth. We have a Duke ownership thread here. Please search that thread and you'll find examples of some accidental repair/replace cases. You'll see that the cost is not in the range what you are portraying here.

Now coming to Duke issues. It has chain noise and slackness issue and somewhat overheating issue(issue reduces a bit after fist service) and seat stiffness issue. Now there are few other minor problems, but those are not experienced by every owners, so not discussing.

Again, it's a suggestion to you that please do not pass false comments/facts in the "Choose Bike" section as this is a critical phase for someone who is trying to choose a bike that will be his companion/soul mate for next couple of years.

@AnupamOnWheels: Hey, you misunderstood me. KTM is not a bad bike and yes i don't have a KTM nor have i rode this bike, but i do know that most of the KTM's parts were sourced here in India and not from Europe, i am saying this because i am working in an industry where we do this kind of sourcing and thats what i do currently for my Canadian company! And i have observed KTM from close quarters and did not feel it was a premium bike! And i know suppliers who supply parts to Harley, Ducati, MV Agusta, triumph etc. and having seen many of their parts, i said the build quality of KTM was not exotic! To be frank, 3 months before i was tired of riding unicorn and sold it finally. I chose three bikes then: cbr 250r, Kawasaki Ninja 250 and finally KTM duke 200. Ninja's price was just outrageous so kicked it off, then came to cbr 250r but from my bad experience of spare unavailability i experienced from Honda, i kicked off that too and finally called KTM shoowroom one monday morning, asked them the price, they said 1,38,600 On Road (Bangalore). I thought let me see some on the roads and a month passed by, i saw one duke near MG road and was surprised by the pillion seat size, it pissed me off some what! But i decided i would keep up with my decision and checked up the spare part costs, so came to know they were costly and fuel needed was premium too, so pissed off again. I wanted a bike so i could travel 40 kms daily with cheap spares and less maintenance. Then i decided KTM was not for me, so i finally saw p220f! It suited me since it had 21 hp and good torque, not much of a difference with my target of a 25hp bike! I will tell you one thing, there's no much difference when riding a 23hp and 25hp bike but if it's a high difference of atleast 25 hp, like a 25 hp mcycle and a 60 hp motor cycle then you can really feel the rush or else it's all the same! Like on my current p220f, i don't feel much of a difference than unicorn, even it's a difference of 8 hp between both, i feel i want more horspower to match my aggressiveness! So concluding both KTM and P200NS are good and KTM maybe is better but if you want to save 30 - 40k with not much of difference in the ride feel, then P200NS is worth it!

This could have been said in different polite way too!!! Are you a Duke Superman ?? Who knows every inch and bit of KTM technology and Bajaj startegies ??

My friend he is one of us, so respecting his decision is even our reponsibilities!!

How much difference does Duke stands out of this list you mentioned above from 200NS ?? please list down the draw back of 200NS over Duke ??

Yep This is true that Duke spares are affordable as compare to CBR or R15, but still i have a doubt whether Duke/200NS both spares are at similar costing ??

Price will always matter to all My friend. I too support people buying R15 to go for Duke, not becuase Duke is the best, but at till more cost it's good power and speed. Apart from it's stability on higher speeds.
200NS is costing approx 30-40k difference, and we get apporx same power and speed so why not a 200NS ??? Why to pay more extra ?? Any ways 200NS is winning the race with good averages as informed by the 200NS owners.

KTM is better than 200NS apart from it's average!! every one knows that.

There are many people who would prefer going for Duke over 200NS with that extra 30k. Becuase they are not bother about average. Even a 2bhp difference matter a lot to many people here! same is for power. KTM is a good bike world wide. Where as people still fear for bajaj products, after the disasters of bikes after 3-4 yrs, Newly launced P220 Fi issues, etc.

but still Duke is Duke !! a nice machine over 200NS, isn't it!!

And friends lets don't make this DUKE Vs 200NS war ground here!!!! We will have seperate thread for this too!! With experienced riders of both machines!!!

So chill Guys !!! All bike are GOOD!!!! Vrooooommmm

There are lot of things apart from BHP, Personally i chose Duke over NS.. I loved its short gears, short stroke motor, the way it handles corners and its exhaust note. Its not BHP its the feel im talking about , apart from that its got Inverted shocks,WP suspension, trellis frame,DOHC engine etc. making it, more VFM. To me its best thing happened after RD350.

IMO if you can afford wait for Duke350,if you cant wait get Duke200 ASAP.

I took delivery 5days back did around 500kms,and i didnt find single problem. No noises, gears are smooth,no false neutrals,no engine oil/coolant spills like the early adapters faced .
