I posted it on ownership thread but i think you might have missed out on it.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostHi,
Myself Gagan from Delhi. I am still not able to decide which bike to go for…
Yesterday, visited to Yamaha Showroom, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi , There I got the under exchange deal for my passion pro which I brought on 27.03.2011, it runs only 18,300 kms.
The sale person of that showroom offer me exchange value of Rs. 32,000/- & new SZ-R (White color) costing me only Rs.33, 000 /- (On Road price- Rs. 65000 – 32,000).
So my questions for the owners of this bike are following –
1) Is this bike is really VFM.
Ans: The answer is subjective to the need of a person. What you call a VFM is important. Is it that, if it gives you more mileage then its VFM? Or If this bike is maintenance free then its VFM? If you ask me, the pricing it comes it is definitely VFM product by Yamaha, I have been riding it for 1 and half year now. I crashed her 4 times hence my maintenance side went a little high and if you dont drop it then it will ask you do its regular servicing as recommended by Yamaha.
2) How this bike will performed by pulling total weight of 160kgs (Pillion and Rider).
Ans: I dont ride it much with pillion, only once I went to mountainous roads with Pillion and pulling a 72 kg pillion with me around 73 kg was never a problem due to its excellent lower end torque.
3) My height is around 6.3” & Pillion height is around 5.10”.
Ans: One of my friend is 6'1", he is riding with no problem.
4) How this bike on maintains aspects…??
Ans: Like I said regular maintenance and periodic replacement as recommended by Yamaha thats what it takes.
5) Will this bike surve me for atleast 5 years without major issue like we faced in Bajaj bikes after two years?
Ans: It should, this bike is launched about 1 and half year ago. Since this is a Yamaha bike durability should not be a problem.
6) How’s the pickup.. (keeping our weight in mind)
Ans: Very good. Pulling in second gear from standstill with or without pillion is never a problem.
7) What is actual mileage (show room guys told me 40-45)
Ans: I just calculated my bikes mileage about couple of days ago, I have been riding slow between 30-55 kmph due to rain and in City limit I ride slow. I got 49 kmpl, this is with with Reserve to reserve method. Like Yamaha says in the manual, "Mileage depends upon riding habit", if you ride rash, rip it up it will give you less mileage as a matter fact any bike would fetch less mileage. One of the most important part of SZ-R that I found is, The Running-in period of this bike. You follow proper running period and this bike will perform very good.
I know there are other bikes too, but I am tight on budget, apart from this bike there is only two bikes I liked
1) Unicorn – Rs 71,000 (On Road)
2) CBZ extreme. – Rs 75,000 (On Road)
Ans: Both the bikes are in here for a longer period of time so durability is not an issue over here, for other aspects I cant comment.
The question here is that, if I am getting good VFM in (Rs. 65,000/-) then why I spend Rs. 10,000 more.
Ans: Like I said it is VFM if it fit into your definition of VFM. And being cheaper than other 150cc almost 5 digits can make it only a winner over others.
Please suggest and clear my doubts.
Thanks
Mileage - Lowest I got was 38 kmpl due to mistuned carb, highest I got was 55 kmpl, highways above 60 kmph I get around 43-45 kmpl. City 45-50 kmpl.
As of today I have completed 8th service of my SZ-R, now running on Elf Moto 10W50 Fully Synthetic oil and the engine is even more smooth than before, rev friendly. Mileage is hovering between 45-50 kmpl in City riding, 30-55 kmph with a few burst of redlining on lower gears.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers!

2Ok.. Thanks Lalit.. though i am still not purchased my bikes.. i would like to try UNICORN & STUNNER.. The only think impressed me in SZ-R - it value I got an offer from showroom of 64,500 rs /- (which include the price of accessories like leg guard, sari guard + steelbird helmet)... This sounds very tempting.. apart from this as you told me.. this bike can easily pull off weight of two (around 200 kgs) + it is good for tall person like me...... (Hope you are sure shot on this)...
Now comes to HONDA .. the things forcing me towards this... are HONDA very good engine (UNICORN).. easily maintenance, availability of part in local market (being so old). + mileage also, same in the case of stunner as i am using these bike within Delhi city with total running of 80 km per day (up & down).
What other suggestions.... ???

Ahh!! 80kms both side!! That's a huge number for daily purpose!!Originally posted by jammbuster View Post... i am using these bike within Delhi city with total running of 80 km per day (up & down).

Actually you should see 100cc or 125 cc only!! Becuase Petrol price would be hiked again in coming years and I am dead Sure that it will reach 100Rs/liter in 2 yrs.
So Unicorn or SZr or P135 are of no use in that sense. Go with some good mileage of 70kmpl+ atlest.
Twsiter is a good option.
Your second criteria pillion together: Are you travelling with pillion daily 80kms??
If yes then only Unicorn but still you will be hit by petrol prices on daily basis. ANd if pillion is occasionally on weekends then go with some good mileage!!

No buddy... it total ride .. not more than 80 km (including up & down).. max...Originally posted by somen1984 View PostAhh!! 80kms both side!! That's a huge number for daily purpose!!

Na.. only for weekend ride... i wish i can buy two bike 125 cc (SS 125 or STUNNER) & another one 150 or 220 cc bike.. but this is only wish .. let C when it become reality...
any way... SS 125 or STUNNER or SZ-r

See my friend very practically, you have a car i see in pic. For weekends you can manage it with that too.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostNo buddy... it total ride .. not more than 80 km (including up & down).. max...

And 125 cc would save your lot of money on petrol which can be used on weekend in your car.
Any 125 cc would give you a good mileage of 65-70kmpl. Have you test ridden Twister ??? How was that while riding. I have seen some good height people riding it. and it has an awesome average of 70kmpl+.
Daily 80kms is really huge i mean it.
Don't think on weekend ride buddy, I guess you can neglect that part too. when weekend rides are some thing that you can manage, but daily ride is more imp.
from your choice Stunner is good even check twister and shine. SS125 is also good.
Note: I and my dad would be approx 200kgs and we roam on Aspire mere 110cc bike with out any issues we ride over hills too as my home is at hilly region,Mmy dad gets an average of 65kmpl+ in purely city.
SZr is good but it would give you 50-60kmpl max!! Where as any 125 cc would give you 65kmpl atleast!! and 70kmpl+ max.
Choose wisely. And when it's a question of daily ride of 80kms total then Honda is best to be choosen in 125cc segment.
Choose from Stunner/Shine/Twister if still you are mad about 150cc then SZr.Last edited by Guest; 09-21-2012, 01:03 PM.

+100, looking at current economic scenario it feels petrol will reach 100rs/litre earlier than expected. and then goverment will have lame excuse that in pakistan petrol is already 100rs/litre ( God, when will these people stop comparing themselves with pakistan) .Originally posted by somen1984 View PostAhh!! 80kms both side!! SS125..... this would have been my first choice with eyes closed, 2 years back. Now... my personal opinion is it looks bit outdated.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostNo buddy... it total ride .. not more than 80 km (including up & down).. max...

Stunner..... heard big vibrations at speed above 60 Kmph in almost all reviews. ( is it honda, seriously ?? )
SZR...... I am probable buyer of this maybe in 1-2 months.

Nothing like that mate. Twister one of the best mileage deliver!! 70kmpl+ there are few more. I guess sling shot also gives a 70kmpl.Originally posted by MoonLight View Postsomen, but mileage of 70+ kmpl !!!! maximum i heard was 60 kmpl for splendor which is 100 cc.
There was a chart shared by Antz Bin some where and that chart had much better mileage figures of 100cc .
BTW my Aspire 110cc 12 yrs old gives an average of 65kmpl in city.

If shape does matters then SZr looks far better then Stunner, where as you have two models in market with approx same looks i.e Stunner and Ignitor
Cost and features is now your concern...so why not Stunner which is 1 bhp less and has tubeless tyresOriginally posted by jammbuster View Post- again its also my fav but have you seen stunner's height with tubeless tyre that cost only Rs.61,000 with 11 bhp power .. apart from this szr is only 12 bhp... with cost of rs 65,000/- , with no tubeless tyre.. now what you say on this.....

Some where this figures are actual, if you lessen it by say 5kmpl then too it's ok, R15 figures are more than what they have mentioned
Now you decide which bike you want Stunner or SZr ?? features or power ?? Cost or requirement ??
