Absolutely correct. And as of now, even the P220S has been discontinued. So, it officially shortens the shortlist again to:Originally posted by paradox View PostMuztariq bhai , didn't they stop selling old 200s a long time ago?
1. Fazer
2. Pulsar 220
First of all, you cannot compare Fazer to P220. Both are entirely different bikes. It would be like comparing a Swift to a Honda City, i.e. both are very good, but can they really be compared?
The only difference in case of Fazer and P220 is that their OTR prices are very very close to each other, but thats where the similarity ends. To be fair to both bikes, I would prefer an FZ(or any of its siblings) over a P220 if I ride exclusively in the city. But since I love the highways, I cannot see myself on a FZ for long. But thats just me, other people might think differently.
What I suggest is,
1. Get the Fazer if you absolutely love it AND your total Highway miles will be <10% of total travel. FE will be same as P220 in the city, but it is an easier to ride bike due to better flickability and shorter footprint. Highway mileage depends upon what speeds you ride it. I have seen FZs returning 15% less FE than even a Ninja 250R on highways. This, coupled with the small fuel tank means, a LOT of fuel stops on Highway rides. This is apart from the fact that it 'might' look small for your 6.4” frame.
2. Get the P180 if your highway miles will be <50%. It will return better FE than both P220 and Fazer in the City. Highway FE will be reasonably good too. Its easier to live with in the city as it doesn't attract much attention(== less chances of vandalism) and is smaller and lighter than P220.
3. Get the P220 if your highway miles will be >50%. City FE is a reasonable 40-45 (50+ if you ride uncleji style). Highway FE will be 37-45, i.e. similar to P180, but you will thank yourself for opting for the bike with the highest torque south of 1.6 lac whenever you overtake that 16 wheeler.
Finally don't take anybody's word for which bike you should buy. Decide on your own by trying out every bike in your original shortlist. What we give here are just general suggestions and guidelines to help you decide with confidence.Last edited by antz.bin; 04-27-2012, 02:51 AM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

If you're an experienced rider then give the ZMA a shot, cause its a rock solid bike on highways, and the newer models give a 50+Kmpl mileage, if ridden within 4k(65Kmph).
Now coming to city riding, heres where your experience shows its worth, the ZMA's got massive and I mean massive low end torque, so its like point and shoot. You can easily zip zap through traffic.
The reason I suggest this bike though its dated is cause, its a best of both worlds bike, initial 3 gears are short hence the bike's easily maneuverable in traffic, whithout much shifting. And the last 2 gears are far apart, hence the relaxed rideability in highways.
Now the downsides.
1. Tops at 125Kmph.
2. When real hot the bike starts acting up.
3. Even after being in the 230cc category, the bike produces only 14.xBhp's at wheel.Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!

Dear ashwinprakas, You are right but what I am looking for Pulsar 220 as they provide double disc, but my only doubts is how it performed like maintenance , I come to know pulsar's gear problem...??? etc etcOriginally posted by ashwinprakas View PostIf you're an experienced rider then give the ZMA a shot, cause its a rock solid bike on highways, and the newer models give a 50+Kmpl mileage, if ridden within 4k(65Kmph).

Though I am having car + Hero Honda pleasure for my wife and my father
, but i love to go for long drive during weekend on two wheeler ( within 350km range) during lovely weather.
NOW AB KYA KARE>>>> KON SE BIKE SUGGEST KARTE ho.. jo kaam se kaam 5 years tak jada problem naa de..
Originally posted by muztariq View Postyes man, i am not sure about there present range and does not have time to go to their heavy website now.. Hence have shortlisted whatever i knew.. If they are not selling, you cant buy it! Simple! :-)That's the main problem i am in doubt about pulsars.....Originally posted by muztariq View Postas you are inclined towards fazer or a p220 or any other bike.. Let me help you out with some facts..
Though i have read a lot about your requirements, one being mileage.. I would suggest a simple p180 (i hope it is selling still!!)
why not fazer-
though i own this bike and absolutely love its performance but i feel after 95k/hr the bike is sluggish, it metts my requirements of cruising around 85, but may not meet yours - though it goes upto 125(reported by many users) but then its idle rpms needs to be changed and stock bike give 40 with inc. rpms may be it will give 30 mileage!! Secondly its rear tire costs 3k and needs to be changed every 25k kms.. Fazer has many many benefits like wind tunnel tested fairing, monoshock, dual lights, cool looks, low centre of mass, smooth engine, widest front suspension, good riding posture etc etc.. But will not suit you i think.
Just yesterday rode a friends pulsar 180 and man it was 60,000 km old single spark bike but the smoothness was just amazing..
For you and your wife a bike should have good pulling power.. Hence you cant go for anything less than 180 cc.. Apache is small, yamaha doesnt sell ; r15 is beyond your budget, honda has karizma, bajaj has many.
Only two left for a good choice -
A. Pulsar 180, 200 (not ns) and 220.
B. Karizma.
Test drive both, but my bet would be 180 if it is selling right now or 220.. As 220 and karizma has nearly same mileage!
I really hated pulsars after reading reviews, over-heating problems, gear box.. But a pulsar well kept will last a good 80k atleast.
Early I had pulsar 150 which last only 28,000 km..
Please frd put some more light.. DEMAG KI BAATI JAALO MERE... AS THIS WILL BE my five year plan for any expenses on bike

Gagan bhai, aapke liye 1 bike bilkul sahi hai. P220.
Karizma kyun nahi bola, bcoz P220 does everything in a better manner.
It can easily last you 5 years.
My uncle has a 2007 P220, its a charm.
With the 220, u get one of the best headlights in business. Great pickup, good grunt, and decent mileage too.
Gearbox has no problems at all. If ripped, even a splendor's gearbox will fall apart.
Take a test drive soon and decide.
Happy riding. Cheers.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Gagan bhaiya, ab meri baat suniye.. Why 2 bikes for office and outstation trips? Considering you ride 60km/day, for 25 days/month == 1500km on Splendor per month, giving 60-65kmpl, won't save you more than Rs.1000/month. But why do you forget the back pain it gives you? (*God forbid* What if it deteriorates?) Baat maano, sell Splendor and commute on something you feel more comfortable on.Originally posted by jammbuster View PostYaar dhekho, now what's in my mind.. that i will keep passion pro for daily up and down for office ( as my office is 30 km in one direction) in which 10 km is highway.

P220 or Karizma dono aaraam se 5 saal tikenge. Rear disc ko maaro goli, Karizma bhi badhiya gaadi hai. Ride and check which is more comfortable.
Karizma I cannot say, but my P220 has been consistently returning 40+kmpl in the city since the last almost 2.8 years/37k+km. Aaj to khair thodi paglaayi hui hai (67.6 km/l and still going)
.
Assuming bike will be run for 1800km/month on an average every month (900km = 50% highway), at the end of 60 months, bike will be at 1,08,000km
utni to koi P220 aaj tak chali nahi, so cannot say
. But what things you will definitely need in those many km are as follows:
3 x Front Tires (~Rs.1800-2000)
4 x Rear Tires (~Rs.2800-3000)
4 x Chain Sprocket (~Rs.1100)
6 x Front Brake pads (~Rs.100)
4 x Rear brake pads (~Rs.120)
3 x Clutch (~Rs.1200)
20 x Spark Plugs (Rs.70)
5 x Air Filters (Rs.80)
All this is apart from Engine oil, Petrol, Bulbs, Service Labor Charges (and Accident Repairs if Any)
. All Pulsar parts are amongst the cheapest in segment, the only expensive part on a P220 is the beautiful projector headlamp (which costs 3.5k). Service interval is every 5k km (or 150 days). The above is your 5 year plan. And believe me, there is ABSOLUTELY NO Problem with the gears. Gear problem single spark Pulsar me 8 yr pehle Solid hota tha
.
Maybe Karizma owners can also provide what all is recommended to be changed in 1 lac km as per experience and preventive maintenance schedule so that Gagan bhai can make an informed decision.
@Mods please don't mind Hindi usage, TS is obviously more comfortable this way.

What is Gear Ratio???? - Yamaha SZ-R
Hi to All Xbhpians... required another help from all expert out there....
As I am 6.2" also weight around 100 kg
I just returned from the test drive of Yahama SZ-r here in delhi it is just 64,000 on road.
I must say I am impressed by the pick up....
Apart from above I like the style too...
Please advice me on the following queries of my mind...
1) how this bike will perform for me... ( by keeping my structure)
2) parts & maintenance of the bike for long run ????
Also there is one more question what is gear ratio
In SZ-R paper it is mentioned like this -
1st gear ratio = 2.174
2nd gear ratio = 1.789
3rd gear ratio = 1.318
4th gear ratio = 1.045
5th gear ratio = 0.916
what is all this.. please help me to know the details of above.
Thanks

Thread Approved and merged with your existing thread
For Gear Ratios and its relation to speed achieved w.r.t. engine RPM, you can use
Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
How it will perform, only you can tell through Test Rides and comparing with other bikes.
Edit: This is also a person of similar physical dimensions as yours. Maybe you guys could help each other

Last tuesday i went for p180 UG4. i am 6'1" an believe me its awsome. but if you can add 10k more then you can go for p220. both are awsom machines. But i went for p180 for two obvious reasons:
1. Fuel Efficiency (I have done 180 kms in 4 litres).
2. Seating Posture as we both are above 6'.
So Choice is yours. But Between these two I belive.

anyways at the end of the day you need a commuter, not a small or big bike, and i see p135 as a good if not best commuter.and the question remains why do i race?
