1. If you have the money to spend then go for a Ninja300, . .
2. The twin cylinders have an upper hand and as you mentioned mostly in top end can you help me out here by saying how many times do you achieve a top end daily or weekly. . ? Is your city so much free that you can ride the bike in the top end all the time. . ? Even if you ride it in top end all the time, is it good for the engine. . ? One example for the above said query of your's is CBR almost equal, here is the thing, it's a more practical bike than the Ninja 300. . .
3. Duke390 still seems a better buy for that price tag which cannot be resisted. . .
4. Pulsars, err I don't like them seriously from quite a long time but now I am starting like it not for their stupid same old looks but the new technology they are adapting and providing more for the buyers at a VFM tag, so the Pulsar 375 may or may not be a perfect bike like the Ninja but still it'll be a good bike and don't forget, every bike has it's set of pros and cons. . .
5. We are here to give our advice to the buyer and not fight as to which is the best bike, but give our personal reviews, . .

PS: Have I missed out anything. . ?

Cheers!!!
Dude, you don't know my commute daily. Even though its just a short 15km commute, it is predominantly on the highway, so the chances of hitting high speeds are pretty high provided you have the right machine. The Ninja can do speeds of 160+ all day. It is a parallel twin and is made to have good top end power. Have you ever ridden one? But do the same in a single, you will feel the difference in both. A single run on the top end continuously will hurt the engine than a twin.
CBR is a more practical bike if
1. You are looking for a comfortable ride that is also powerful enough to cruise at 120kph effortlessly
2. You are a bit concerned with the FE
3. You don't really mind much about its handling and braking(not that they are poor, but compared to a Ninja, they are obviously not as good)
4. You have a limited budget for your bike.
If you got the money, and can compromise on a few factors to gain more then the Ninja would be your best bet. And there is a reason why Ninjas are priced more, they are brought here as CKD units, unlike the other machines that are completely manufactured.

Re: Ninja 300 or used sports bike? Too confused

I actually had a healthy laugh reading some of the statements.
CBR250 and Ninja 250 are almost same : Are you kidding me?
Ninja's tyre is a CON for it : Are you kidding me , again? Ride it on a hair pin bend and you can easily do a knee down, whereas try doing it on CBR with contigos and you will know.

I would request people to get some of the facts checked before assuming things and forcing their views here.

As per thread starter's query : My personal experience says that in 4lac you will rarely get any good tension free(read legal) sbk. Get ninja, use it top the fullest, in the meantime, save more while you ride it and later on get a good legal used sbk in 5-6lacs.
Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Have you seen the the plots generated by a dynamometer for a similar displacement single cylinder and a dual cylinder engine configuration ? You should see them before you assure someone
Brother,

Chill out! I am not talking about the better bike. Everyone knows that Ninja is a better bike (read performance) in ALL aspects. Hands down. Even though i don't all the nuts and bolts of a twin vs single concepts, but as an enthusiast i know enough to judge which is a better bike. But as the OP is trying to know whether Ninja does justice by the 4L+ price tag with a few niggles (read NO ABS).

Now as u have urged me to check that dynamo charts or something, i urge you to ponder upon the idea of which is a better VFM product. In my personal opinion, i feel it doesn't justify the price tag. But that's my opinion and yours maybe different. For the speculated price point of the 375 pulsar and the features, its a good machine on its own (not a kawasaki obviously, but hey what did expect from a bike costing less than half of the Ninja)

Regards.

ShreySri: My 2 cents.
1) Stay away from SBKs, you will not get a decent one below 7lacs.
2) I have ridden a Ninja 250 and owned a duke 200, I liked my Duke better, but it depends on your personal preferences and riding style. I wouldn't keep a cbr 250 even if someone gave it to me for free.
3) I would have a serious look at the duke 390, it has everything that the ninja 300 has and then some more at half the price. But, they cater to different segments. If it is a track bike you want then nothing better than the 300 otherwise duke it is, with enough spare cash for good riding gear and some serious modifications.
4) I have ridden the GT 650 R, It is not bad, it gives a big bike experience with loads of power, but is heavy, not a sharp handler and a bit unrefined. GT650N should be similar. IMHO worth a look, but not without a test ride.

Try and get a test ride of these bikes and then decide which is best suited to your riding style and budget.

Re: Ninja 300 or used sports bike? Too confused

@xpranav and @Ezilkannan I think you both are speaking from a rich person point of view, I was also like this earlier, saying only imported bikes are the best and saying the other bikes like that made of Bajaj's and TVS are not so good, that this etc., then I changed my way and now I know the real thing, so first remove that from your mind, keep it aside and then see the world, you'll know what I mean, think from a normal man's point of view. . . You may be rich and have the cash, so you go for it, that's your choice, same way others may not be rich and cannot afford it so that doesn't stop them from getting a good machine which is almost equivalent to that. . . Clearly going any further, firstly,
1. Has the thread starter has said you that he is a rich kid. . ?
2. Do you know is he a racer. . ?
3. Do you know if he is a pro or a learner or quite knowing about bikes. . ?
4. Is he really willing for going to the Ninja or is he hesitant. . ?
5. Has he told you his priorities for his new bike. . ?
If yes then go ahead and say it to me, i'm gonna listen or else if it's NO then see everything what I have mentioned. . .

I haven't rode the Ninja cos didn't get a chance but I have rode the CBR250R and I know it's capabilities. . . Now let me answer pranav's queries and then will do with Ezil,
Xpranav,
1. I ain't stirred up but speaking from looking at the overall point of things. . .
2. I haven't seen the plots of dyno but will see it when I get little time. . .
3. I know the difference between the 3 machines but before moving further, I don't know what kind of a rider he is, so I can't comment over here, I just can give my opinions rather than just speaking about a sports bike. . . If anyone asks me about a choice, first I ask their priorities, budget and all other things, if they don't have all these, then I give them variety of options to choose from. . .
4. Neither did I find their review helpful but still just to show you what the D390 is capable of, I showed it to you. . .
5. Ha ha ha please bro, I have gone through the spec sheet of both the machines, only after that is am I commenting here, I have seen many videos, read reviews about both and I know how each behaves and in what rate do they develop their power and torque. . .
6. What if he is not that kind of a guy and if he's satisfied with the bike's overall performance and in the future goes for a higher cc bike rather than moding it. . ?
7. Again the guy is hesitant, you don't just judge a guys' background by just a post he posts. . .
8. Again, I have mentioned that, if he has patience, he can wait. . .

Now Ezil,
1. I don't know what's your daily commute and neither is it useful for me in knowing about it. . .
2. Ok for 15kms, daily you ride at 170kph speed. . ? Great post us a video, let's see. . .
3. I haven't ridden a Ninja cos not got a chance but will ride it if I get one. . .
4. Even the CBR is made to run at high speeds, BTW one doesn't keep his wrist twisted and rides at 170kph all day long like you, . .
5. Again you are getting the point but still missing out, give your suggestions and I give mine, that's it. . .

If the D390 is a street bike and has more in terms of performance then I bet the Pulsar 375 will also be equal or a tad less than the D390 but will be higher than the N300. . .

PS: I know the high pricing of the N300, so please. . .

@TBTS-350 you really have a good point over there certainly from a general point of view. . .

Cheers!!!

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Additional: I have mentioned in my previous comments for him to get the Ninja 300 if he has the cash. . .
Read this again and please don't keep saying that I am stopping him from getting the Ninja 300. . .

Cheers!!!

This review might be helpful and don't say me you don't trust these guys cos as much as I have seen, they are one of the best reviewers. . . I didn't see the video now but I had seen it a long time back and I remember they mentioning something about the tires,

Cheers!!!

Dear TBTS, I humbly respect your opinion.

But allow me a little space to explain my POV. YOu see, if I take the heart and Brain out of a human body, it remains nothing more than a corpse. And so is the case with an engine and gearbox for a bike. Those plots (indicating power and torque over a range of rpm) will help you realize why there is a huge price tag for a 300 cc twin cylinder bike from a single cylinder 350/375 cc bike.

I am too speaking with the info I have learnt about it and some of my experience, till date I have ridden almost all the Indian motorcycles out there, except a few and also even though I don't about every single nuts and screws about the bike or it's engine, I do have knowledge about bikes but again I ain't the best around but still I am a learner. . .

PS: I still didn't get the answers for the first set of questions I asked. . .

I am sorry!!! Couldn't stop myself from commenting... the above part just cracked me up. I was having the worst day possible... well until I read that.

Back to topic. Guys please stop comparing apples and bananas. The ninja and the cbr are two different breeds and any comparison between the two wouldn't be fair.

As to the thread starter, please take prateek2210's advice, unless you can extend your budget just go with the Ninja.

Now before the bashing starts for this piece of advice, my two cents: the TS clearly mentioned that he needs to choose between Ninja and used super bikes, so lets stop assuming his finances and lets just answer to his query.

Good day guys!!

Actually I find everyone making valid points... but because its all mixed with riding preferences and styles, its gotten confusing and heated...

If you can pick up a Ninja 300 new, nothing like it, its a proper supersports for India not to be compared with a Single Cylinder Sports tourer such as a CBR250r.

Dont get an SBK for 4L unless someone very experienced (in SBK knowhow/diy) and trustworthy - reviews and recommends it offline.

Pulsar 375 again could be a sports tourer... especially if its a single cyl bike.

Simple... If you're looking for life below 8000 RPM then hang on... If youre looking for a good extended form of life above it too... then get the Ninja 300 if you decide to go new.

poor guy who posted this query.. he didn't even got a chance to say or add anything.. guys lets not let our tamper take control and be as productive and helpful to each other.. that's the main reason this forum has been so successful..
now don't make personal remarks.. we all are mature enough and have enough riding experience for our own well-being..

as for the query poster @ShreySri.. when you post a query, do check the thread and contribute to the on-going discussion..
and i think a SBK for 4-5L won't be any good.. go for Ninja 300..

Ride safe and have fun.

Whoa!!! Turn down the heat guys ... Thanks a ton everyone for your inputs and review. I am not quoting anyone because of so many amazing replies and suggestions.

1. I took Duke 390 test drive. Loved the power and tyres. But sadly I am not into naked bikes. it feels too thin and light for my taste. I didnt like to sound it makes, i want to hear my bike roaring. So its out of my list.
2. Ninja 300 amazing bike but I am still trying to restrict my expenses. But might book it next week, if I dont get something better (good pre-owned SBK).
3. Pulsar 390, I would love to wait to check it out but I dont trust Bajaj's spares. Hope it comes with ABS.
4. CBR250 is not an option for me

Why dont I love cars...?

ShreySri I have been using Ninja 300 for the last 3 months and have clocked almost 6K KM's on it and have completed 2 servicing also. Take my words on it, I have found no issues so far with the bike and yes I have ridden it in mud sloshed roads, broken roads and beautiful NH4. this bike takes everything thrown at it, Only one word of advice: dont expect cheap service for this beauty. I replaced my front brake pads at around 5800 km and it costed me 1500 Rs and paid service charges with oil replace comes to around 3K approx. If you can let go of this "expensive" tag for this bike, I can very easily say that this bike will bring smile to your face. Like you I am also not into naked bikes and though I have ridden D390 and felt its faster than N300 but somehow couldn't connect to the 390. I am not demeaning any bike here but if you had made mind for the 300 there is a certain assurance that the smiles and feel which this bike will provide is worth the 4L tag.

4. CBR250 is not an option for me

Why dont I love cars...?

Dude, 1.5k for cintered brake pads isn't costly. Imagine this, I pay ~1200 rupees each for both front and rear pads on my Karizma.
But really, N300 is a different game altogether.

Totally agree with you bro, but I was talking from a common man's point of view, My Pulsar NS brake pads costed me 250 bucks but as the user is already ready to shell out money for 300 and also looking out for a used SBK, so I dont think it will be a issue at all for him
