I own a CBR250R and a TVS Apache right now. And though both these are serving me really well, I still find something missing in my garage, and that itch to buy a Royal enfield to replace the CBR250R is never fading. So I am looking for the Classic500, my heart is with that classic look and its thump. But fears of not being able to cruise beyond 80 kmph on today's highway and also words about an unstable chassis that would not be very safe to push beyond 110 kmph is bothering me.

I also thought about getting the Conti GT, as the chassis is well sorted, and the tyres, suspension, brakes are all much better than on the Classic, but Conti is not something my heart wants...
Is the Classic 500 good enough to cruise at 90-95 kmph without any vibrations? I cruise between 80 and 100 only, even on my CBR, as I do not trust our highways to push beyond that as a cruising speed...

Existing Classic 500 owners, please let me know your thoughts, and also, looking to understand if I can do any mods to make the C500 cruise smoothly between 80-100 kmph,. I am not bothered about vibes beyond that, as I wont be in that speed region for long.

I'm 5'9 so any of these three shouldn't be a problem to ride right? Classic/bullet/Electra? Or should I get the classic has it has a smaller wheel base?

Also, does anyone know how the aftermarket electric start on the bullet 350 is? Does it work well? Or is it not worth the effort and I should just get a Electra instead? I'm OK with the bullet 350 since it has a heavier crank, which makes it easy to ride in traffic( no frequent gear shifts, and I'm lazy!)

I own a classic 350 and till now it has not given me any pain . no complaints other than some tappet noise which can be removed but i havent got the time. Well everybody has there opinions and my opinion is if the need is for a bike which you can use in city,weekend rides,long rides and even ride to the himalayas you may like royal enfield . The feel may be different from the other jap bikes maybe because its hailing from great brit and most of the bikes produced in the era was loke this . triumph and norton may have changed but the royal enfield hasnt so thats how the bike should be if you are looking for the bullets and classics and cafe racers.

really unsure what it is you want to do. the best guess is you can look for someone in need of money and buy their bike, if thats what you want.

Are they good?
Or any other SC which is safe to give my beast!
I've heard the one in Mahim is bad!
Mumbaikar Enfielders...what do you have to say about that?

I want to buy a Royal Enfield but I do not want my money to go to a multi millionaire company, instead I want my money to go to a poor person and help him in running his livelihood so what do I do?

To put it in a simple way,if you are okey with investing time and money on the bike on regular basis then only think about buying a bull.otherwise stay away.

P.S. anybody know what would be a good price to sell 2013 TB500, 24k on the odo.

I agree - I love the way TB looks - but little apprehensive because I keep hearing/reading about these problems.

Actually everyother people has some kind of view regarding Royal Enfield bikes. Some of them are very passionate, while some are equally negative.
Unless you own one or ride one for a considerable time, why should you believe every word of others. It is as simple as that.
(An no, i do not own a RE product. Just my two points)

Well, I have been reading it for last 1 hour or so and could sense passion of RE owners. However, after reading this article, I am not sure if purchasing RE makes sense -

Query for Electra & Standard 500 & Classic 350 owners :

Since your bike is carbed version, can you kickstart your bike when the battery is dead?

Somewhere i read that in carbed version you can (never in efi engine) but somewhere it says no.
Anybody has any experience?

Classics are shorter i mean wheelbase wise and electra and standard has a bit more wheel base , but it has skinny tyres . the classic has more retro looks and some facilities like electric start and disc brake which will not be there on the std , mainly the difference is whether u want a retro looking classic which a teenager would look good riding or a std or electra which has the looks and charm of a true royal enfield bullet . :-)

I don't understand on what basis mechanics suggest Electra or standard.

All the Royal Enfield bikes has UCE engine and no difference between them other than body.

Rest the choice is of customer that which bike looks better to his eye.

Electra, standard, classic all are different by just looks. If you are asking about 350 only.

Well, you can practice all your skills on an avenger till then.
That seems to be a very practical bike, I too had eyes on the avenger.
But, royal Enfield just feels ageless.
I also love the fact that its more of a DIY kinda bike.

Well, I too won't be purchasing it right away, but in a few months.

Why do u say classics a better bet than Electra.

I was at the showroom the other day and the worker their suggested don't go for any bike apart from bullet or Electra they're the best.
