Hey guys,
I already own a Bullet 350 but I want to get one of the ABS ones because, well, better brakes. I am developing a pain in my right foot due to the strain. I use my bike for daily commutes and cruises.
The twins don't make sense in the city (unless someone here can prove otherwise. If so, what about the Interceptor?).
My logical upgrade seems to be the Bullet 500 but I am in two minds. I keep reading about engine problems here.

Height issue comes when you're thinking of purchasing bikes where the seat heights are 850+. In the case of RE, the seat height will be 800. Took a test ride of the following:
1. Jawa
2. Interceptor
3. Continue GT
Oh boy, the 650 twins are a league apart and for less than a lac!
1. Surprisingly, Continue GT posture isn't bad at all. Was really apprehensive but for my height (5' 10") though not very upright, was fairly comfortable.
2. Felt a little vibration on the Conti vs the Interceptor. Maybe just this bike.
3. Rode in traffic with multiple signals, but not even once did I feel that the foot peg was coming in the way when I was planting my leg on the ground.
4. Felt minor heat inside of my thighs only on the Interceptor, mostly from the tank. Not sure why.
And for someone who's driving a bike after a decade, thev650 twins felt more comfortable than the Jawa.
Finally,
1. 8-9 months waiting for Jawa
2. 2-2.5 months for the 650 twins
Dilemma is now tonde use between the Interceptor or the Continental GT.Leave a comment:

Thanks! Had the same dilemma when I bought a car from Fiat stable too! I have it now for 10 years, and it's been an amazing experience! So will.just go and book an Enfield, just want to figure out if its the interceptor or something else.

RE has a history of niggly bikes. Some call it "character" but to each his own
. That said the 650 twins are the best of the bunch it seems so far. Haven't heard any horror stories there yet. But yes usually RE requires third party (local garage) support for the best ownership experience. The 650 and Himalayan don't have anywhere near the level of 3rd party support the bullets do. If this is a major concern then I don't know what to tell you. But all said and done, I'd just buy it and not think too much about it. With REs, the more time you spend thinking, the scarier it seems. But do consider that the support will probably be more available and cheaper than any other supplier of retro bikes (HD, Triumph etc.)

Thanks brother!! And yes you got that absolutely correct - it's more passion that practicality.
Having said that I was going through the Himalayan ownership thread and boy!! Doesn't RE expect crazy amount of technical know how from its customers. I guess lots of DIY / figure it yourself expected if something fails. Hope that's not a deal breaker for someone like me who's been off motorcycling for a while..Leave a comment:

If I read you correctly, this is more of a passion than practicality based decision? If so then go for it. Every bike will have a learning curve and so will the interceptor. Fortunately the 650 interceptor is not a 650 ninja so there will be no sudden frantic acceleration to take you by surprise. From all accounts it has a very linear response. Further its one of the best from the RE stable so if the budget is right I think you would enjoy it more than its bullet brethren.
Could you buy easier to ride, more practical bikes? Sure you could. But I think here the right question is, would you be able to love them as you would an interceptor?Leave a comment:
