Re: Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

While pitting the TNT 300 against the CBR 250, there are certain things to consider before even thinking about this idea!

    1. CBR is a single cyl. TNT is a parallel twin.
    2. Chassis/sub frames vary in both.
    3. Rider usability/preference/choice. You might want to use the bike only for city commutes/touring/offroading/stunting/poser value. Overall, these are two different segments that are pitted against each other and makes no sense!

There is no "perfect" bike, unless one makes it "perfect" for him/her self. To all those who are happy with their bikes, good for you! But do not try to impose yourself on other people's decisions.

BTW, congos vinay for the new member of the family! Wishing you many miles on her!.

I own a CBR 250r and I still think it's a no match for the TNT 300. They are entirely different. It's not ideal to compare them first of all but still I believe the Benelli would out shine the Honda in every way except on the track.

Update v2.0: The whole week has been full of excitement! I booked the bike on Monday at DSK Benelli Chennai. The new stocks of TNT 300 that arrived on Monday got their sale approval from Chennai RTO on Tuesday. I got Form 20, Invoice and Insurance done on Wednesday which I used to request for a number of my choice (3355). I went to showroom on Thursday around 12:00 PM and took the bike to RTO for registration. I did so I could clock the first few miles and feel the satisfaction of taking my bike for a ride to RTO. The registration process itself was super quick and got it done in under 10 minutes and I headed back to showroom again. The ride was super fun except that the weather was hot outside during afternoon. I had suggested the showroom guys that I would pick the bike on Saturday morning so they could do their side of PDI on Friday and have it ready for delivery. I also picked up Benelli's modular helmet and jacket -- hope I did the right choice of going total Benelli for my safety gears too!

          My current feeling: TGIF

Re: Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

I think this thread has been awesome one specially with so many of us who has been looking to upgrade from 150cc to 300/400 cc in the affordable range. Its really hard to compare the choices we have as each one of us have our own requirements. But as someone said its better we passionate people go by what our heart says.

This is my humble opinion from ownership threads that I have been following:

Benelli got everything right they introduced a wide range of bikes starting from 250 right upto 899.Apart from small which every bike manufacturer will have in the initial stages they offer so much fun.But when it comes to practical aspects like maintaining and pricing I thought they didn't do a good job. Oil change interval of 4000 kms for entry feel bikes is I think is too short. If only they had localised they could have brought down the price and be competitive to KTMs.The Next one is the SVCs available we have only one in the entire city.

Coming to Honda , Yamaha and Suzuki has let down people looking to upgrade to 300/400cc there was so much expectation about MT-03 and CBR 300.

Finally all said just go by your heart and choose the best available.

Wish you safe and happy riding.

Re: Suggestions Required For 250+ CC and 3 Lakhs Budget!

Well said Suresh! Adding my 2 cents. Going by all the news pouring in ... These few years are bringing a landslide change in Indian motorcycling world, especially in 250-500 segment. It is correct one should go by heart, as the choices are compelling. Still, if one can wait a little, and there is no urgency to buy.... By this year end the market will have further choice, maybe improved vehicles and certainly more value for the buck. Of course one is losing time in waiting and that's where the balance lies.

On Friday I went to Benelli Thane showroom. Had a look at tnt 25 and 300. Both are truly excellent, no matter where you glance.. It's screaming quality and premium feel. Very pleased by the look at seating posture. Though on 300, my legs were bent more at knee, as I'm 6'1". I asked them about the much talked about servicing cost and interval. He told me 4k km or 4 month. Cost would be 1k for labor and rest oil change. I was smiling, as the 18k figure was hovering in my mind, but I kept quiet.
Also saw the 600i, GT and 899!! Those were just amazing to look at... The tyre were so thick that a small car would shy away, lol! I think I'll have to visit again to fully appreciate those bigger beasts.

THE FINAL UPDATE! Alright, here goes my final update to this thread! (Warning: Image intensive!)

I would like to thank everyone once again who participated here in the thread and those who took a lot of patience to answer my numerous questions over PMs and WhatsApp. I took the delivery of my TNT300 on Saturday evening at 4:00 PM and ride to home (~35 KMs) was absolute bliss. There was heavy traffic at few places which the bike seem to manage brilliantly -- the gear and clutch usage does indeed take some time to get used to but with a proper gloves and shoes, this is easy!

Total distance completed between Saturday 5:00 PM to Sunday 5:00 PM: 330 KMs!

My ride experience (comfort & handling) was beyond my expectation, making the weekend one of the best in last few years. I'm extremely happy that I made the right choice with Benelli! I'm joining Benelli owners for an another ride this weekend, which would clock in another 700-750 KMs and I should be visiting SVC next Monday! I kept my RPM between 6000 to 7000. At 6th gear and 7000 RPM, I was able to reach a maximum speed of 105-107 KM/H. I'll continue further updates and ride experiences on the ownership section of the forums.

                  Adios!
