    Query Approved

You have rather limited options i believe. The 200AS and Apache 200 would be the only bikes which fulfill your criteria.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If you can wait till April for the bike delivery, Apache 2004V, if cant wait for it, R15S.
If you can extend your amount by another 20%, D200 will be under your grabs.
      R15S - Current
      Honda Dio - Current
      TNT 600i - Sold
      Classic 500 - Sold
      Pulsar 220 dtsi - Sold
      Yamaha YBX125 - Sold

I love the AS200 but i think its engine is too complicated .3 spark plugs ,4 valves but only single cam ,max power-torque @ very higher rpm which increases wear & tear & lastly its bajaj so cant expect a trouble free ownership .

Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?

Upgrading from a pulsar 220, I don't think apache 200 would be great choice after going through the first impression reviews in the forum and the spec sheet.
The pulsar 220, though trivial, produces more torque and power than the new apache at the same rpm levels and both the bikes weighs just about the same with pulsar weighing just 2 Kgs more.

And I am not sure if even TVS could give you a trouble free ownership. Especially with the kind of service centres they have. But then, apache 200 is thought to be a long tested bike from TVS and is expected to be having very less niggles.
And I think your budjet won't be even enough to buy the top spec'ed apache as it might cost around 1.3+ lac on road. Maybe you can cut abs and fi. Most reviews suggest it is much refined compared to old apache's, it has to be seen to what levels has it been refined. At this point, we cant say if it is comparable to newer gen pulsars or japanese bikes or somewhere in between.

And also TVS is taking their own sweet time is releasing this bike.

Coming to ur criteria again, with that amount of money, you are left with As 200, which I think you don't prefer. Then, there is avenger series from bajaj, the street 220 looks gorgeous and the reviews suggest it is a very smooth vehicle. The avengers should come within your budget.

I don't think any Japanese Manufacturer comes with a more powerful bike than 220 at that price point. If you can increase your budget a little, there are a lot of options, I would suggest you D200.

The Auto expo is around the corner, someone might come up with a bike that fits your bill. I suggest you wait till then.

With that kind of budget for an upgrade, I wouldnt have sold the P220 in the first place. If you want a more powerful bike you will have to increase your budget to around 2lakhs

There is no replacement for displacement. Going from a 220 to a 200 is pointless

But sir, the pulsar 220 is an old bike, there are a lot of 200s which give much superior performance compared to pulsar 220. Such as the likes of the Rs200, duke 200, 200ns, As200 to name a few. Just that it comes at a higher price point. So I don't think it is pointless to go from 220 to 200.

220 gives ~21bhp. The 200cc bikes you mentioned give around ~24bhp. The price difference does not justify the power increase. So its feasible to put in some more money and go for a higher displacement and/ power output bike.

Now we dont know which year 220 he rode or for how much he sold it. These things are important when considering on getting a new bike

The "price difference-justification" that you are talking about depends on which particular bike we are looking into, right?. If we are looking at VFM, coming from same manufacturer and same series, the price bumb of just 5k of as200 over Pulsar 220 is justifiable I feel, given the performance upgrade(add to it, the improvement in refinement levels, handling and quality, it is so much better still) So if the person has only that much amount of money to shell out, then going for as200 after p220 is money well spent, I feel. If we look into the post of thread starter, he only needs a bike as powerful as p220, not really a 300 or above cc bike, neither does he say he has the budget.

Again, it all depends the person who wants it, the person here has a budget of 1.2 lac. Maybe someone else in this situation, would have been ready to spend a 2lac+ rupees and buy a higher displacement bike, but the person here is not looking for that, that doesn't mean it is pointless to go for a bike at the given price point or 200cc itself, even if we are looking at VFM. Cheers.

Get a low displacement bike. They're more fun to ride. TVS Victor seems good though only time can tell. I ride a P220 and a Wego now, the P220 is the best bet as far money's worth goes, thought I miss the agility and reliability of a low displacement bike.

+1 from my side.the low capacity bikes are fun to ride than the higher displacement. I like discover 135 sports than pulsar 200ns.

Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?

I don't know much about the AS 200 nor have I ever been a fan of Bajaj Pulsars or any Bajaj in that case so I am not talking about it.It sure is a good bike.

Well,The RTR 200 seems promising but it's arriving only after a month and makes almost the same power as the 220F.The build quality is ofcourse better than Bajaj and Dukes and when you are coming from the 220F,You can feel the difference even more.It doesn't make more power than the 200 NS or 220F or the D200 but it isn't any bad,With top speeds touching 144 Kmh (Beating the D200s Limited 136 Km/h) and the Engine being very very refined,So much more than the RTR 180/160.I advice you to save another 10K more,The Engine tech is almost the same with the 220F (Oil Cooling,5 Speed Gearbox but few extras like Short Stroke motor,Better exhaust note and punchier acceleration).Looks,According to me,Is the best,Much better than the Competition but those are personal preference,I loved it though. And go with the highest end - ABS,Pirelli Tyres and Fuel Injection (Or change it to Carburetor if you don't have money but don't change the other 2).The engine,Though making lesser power,Is tuned to give out the punch from 2K to 8K RPM (Low-Midhigh Range) which tells that,It is more focused on City Ripping Traffic and a Track with Lots of corners and short straights to get speed.TVS knows you aren't gonna be riding on your Top speed forver.I am sure it will beat a 200 NS if not a D200 in Accelerations. The 5 Speed Gearbox,Though very refined and nowhere near clunky...Is a Disappointment as a 6th gear was expected,But TVS has tuned it their way (First 3 gears are short and Fiery acceleration,4th for Cruising and 5th for Top Whack runs).Also,Handling...The RTR is WAY better than the 220F in flickability and with Pirellis,The gap widens.Tour-ability...Hands down 220F and AS 200.The RTR is nowhere near comfortable as the AS or 220F but it is way way better than the Older RTR 160 and 180.The Seats of the RTR are wider and more properly cushioned than the 200 NS and Duke 200 (Which really doesn't have a Pillion seat anyway :P ).The Color Choices are plenty for the RTR (I love the Red and White Versions.)TVS SVC is still very bad,But there are some people called 'Roadside Mechanics' who do the job much better :P

Here are your choices - Yamaha R15 - TVS Apache RTR 200 FI ABS - Bajaj Pulsar AS 200 - Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS (Discontinued right now) - Bajaj Avenger 220

If I were you - I would go with the RTR 200 and be unique

                          If you still want Something better ? A Proper 'Upgrade'...from a 220F would be a Quarter-Litre Bike or a 250cc-300cc Bike.Wait for Hero's HX 250R (Auto Expo 2016 Launch).

                          IMHO,I would avoid Bajaj.

All the best for your purchase

Last year i met with an accident, causing a chassis bend so sold it .

Test driven it but i dont think its a VFM product . 93k for std version is too much & it feels same as unicorn plus quality is compromise (electrical switches, paint etc)

According to your budget I would suggest R15S, it will not be a proper upgrade but it is reliable and has proven engine.
