Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?
Just saw the discussion and it seems we are talking more about 220 rather than a motorcycle for OP.220 is a legend guys.No questions asked.Period!
Well first you need to decide what type of bike you actually need-Faired,Naked,Cruiser etc.Its always best ot select the type of bike you need rather than joting the bikes WRT budget.Budeget can be stretched or saved anytime.Just let us know which type of bike you are looking for and we shall help you with it.
Rememebr there are a lot of Choices we have from different Genre of bikes, its just that you need to know what type of bike exactly you need

Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?
I would suggest you to wait for some time and get APACHE 200, after getting some feedback. Since u have used P220, going to a 150cc bike wont be a good decision.Originally posted by vvk1999 View PostA powerful bike like p220 ,is my main requirement. Any body type, like naked full fairing etc..

thought Apache 200 is less powered than P200, i would still suggest u because the way engine is tuned, u will never feel Apache is under powered than P220 till its midrange.
P200 uses its power in top end and hence unless u drive mostly @ 90kmph+ u will never feel APACHE is under powdered compared to P220.
Even my preference is not to go for much complicated techs which will finally cost u more on maintenance and u cant get ur hands on it if u r a DYI person.
The new APACHE 200 seems to be a strong contender in sub 200cc considering the real usage of the bike and even for long drives u can comfortably cruise at 80-90 kmph easily. Comfort wise i would say it wont let u down since it has upright seating position and will be better than P220 for sure.
U can consider AS200 in ur list and it has similar torque as APACHE 200, but then u have to revv to higher rpm along with 6 speed transmission, u will end up with more gear shifts . Hence city ride wont be much fun. This is one reason why 5 speed may not be n issue in Apache considering the real usage because of its torque achieved at relatively low rpm matted with 5 speed.added to that squeezing appropriate power for its capacity means more engine life.
IMO, it will tick all ur expectations provided u have to wait bit more for its ownership feedback.
I like faired bikes than naked ones and hence i have kept HX250R first in my list even though i can afford sub 300 imported once , reason being local manufacturer and better support ( i own HUNK now and the quality of the product/service makes me to trust Hero) and mostly importantly less periodic maintenance cost compared to imported bikes. That being said APACHE 200 is also in my list since i wouldnt mind going down the budget as long as it fulfills my need.
If at all you are going for APACHE 200, then wait some time for its ownership feedback and then u can buy ( since as of now all pointers for Apache 200 is purely based of theoretical aspects and media reviews) . U can opt for FI version with ABS and pirelli tyre is ur choice if u need that extra grip, though the life would be less.
Bottom line:
Never compare the PS and NM alone, the way it is being achieved matters a lot.
U can own a much costlier bike but maintaining it, is a whole different story. Hence if you are stretching ur budget, please keep in mind u can also afford for its periodic maintenance. Benelli is a good example in this regard.
P.S : apologies for going OT here and there but i though it might help to understand what i meant to say.Last edited by dineshaugustin; 02-11-2016, 11:21 AM.

Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?
If I were you, I suggest you buy the Pulsar 220F again.
I have participated in FMSCI Drag Races and trust me, there is no competition to Pulsar 220F. I have not won any but all winners are Pulsar 220F till date.Since your requirement is as powerful as 220F.
If you observe the gear ratios of Pulsar 220F, it is much taller than other 200/250 cc single pot bikes.
In drag races, on any other bike, people have to do a lot of costly mods to bring them close to Pulsar 220F. On a Pulsar 220f, all you do is undergear it by sprocketing and it is faster than a rocket. I have done continuous 140+ kmph on highways for a good 3-4 hours and the bike responds like a charm. I have ridden karizma, dukes, etc. all borrowed from friends and I personally guarantee you they are in no close league to the Pulsar 220F. 220F has been refined a lot for more than a decade now.
Just to prove my point to a friend of mine who has a karizma, I told him to swap the chain and sprocket with Pulsar 220F.
Karizma has 13F/40R while Pulsar has 14F/36R.
The karizma became very sluggish while, pulsar became a rocket. On stock setup, all know which is powerful. As the karizma mills is weak, they have compensated with a heavy undergear.
Also people debate on 5 gears vs 6 gears. See, it is not the number of gears, it is about the gear ratios. The 6th gear ratio of NS200(0.92) is the same as 5th gear of Pulsar 220F(0.88). The difference is compensated by the sprocket size, Pulsar 200ns is undergeared(14F/39R), Pulsar 220f is overgeared(14F/36R)
Also, the drag surface area of Pulsar 220f is less than others. So it has an advantage of the power-to weight-ratio.
And remember, Pulsar 220f is kawasaki engineered(called the Rouser in Phillipines).
Go to any Bajaj Showroom and ask them whats selling hot and its the Pulsar 220F. Its robust, stable and easy to maintain. Also, it depends upon how you ride it. Pulsar 220F is a 100% VFM product, no doubt about it.
Just my opinion and no offence to anyone. I am open to positive criticism.
Use Motul 300V and refill after 3500 kms and the bike will never complain. Keep AFR 3.5 to 3.75 turns, idle speed to 1100 on cold and 1600 on warm.
All your requirements are in favour of Pulsar 220f. Yes its an old bike and common and looks old and is not that modern, but performance over looks man.
Get the Pulsar 220f and the remainder money can be used for some quality riding gears and 2-3 years of petrol supply.

Replied inline in bold.Originally posted by Parvez Ghadialy View PostIf I were you, I suggest you buy the Pulsar 220F again.
Very sound advice! Still one of the best.
220F has been refined a lot for more than a decade now.
Absolutely. A layman may actually mistake the engine as Honda's.
As the karizma mills is weak, they have compensated with a heavy undergear.
Wrong. ZMA is based on CRF 230 dirt bike, hence the crazy low end torque despite robbing the India spec version with a gear and few ponies.
With a good rider, P220 has to stretch a bit catching a ZMA up to 50, post which ZMA is seen only in the RVMs.
Also, the drag surface area of Pulsar 220f is less than others. So it has an advantage of the power-to weight-ratio.
How does it even matter?
And remember, Pulsar 220f is kawasaki engineered(called the Rouser in Phillipines).
Ha ha... No brother, Pulsar 220F was never touched by Kawasaki even with a barge pole.
Go to any Bajaj Showroom and ask them whats selling hot and its the Pulsar 220F. Its robust, stable and easy to maintain. Also, it depends upon how you ride it. Pulsar 220F is a 100% VFM product, no doubt about it.
