Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?

While I agree that the 220 is still a good bike to buy, n I would have bought it now if I had to for the fact that it does almost the same job as others with a far less complex engine to maintain, I would say buying another 220 would not be a good proposition, as it would defeat the purose of an upgrade, for the fact remains, is that the as200, at 1.1 lac makes more power, gives more mileage and is an overall improvement in every department including ownership.

      Absolutely

Also, the drag surface area of Pulsar 220f is less than others. So it has an advantage of the power-to weight-ratio.?

What is drag surface area ? How does is affect power to weight ?

And remember, Pulsar 220f is kawasaki engineered(called the Rouser in Phillipines).

They never even worked on 220

Go to any Bajaj Showroom and ask them whats selling hot and its the Pulsar 220F. Its robust, stable and easy to maintain. Also, it depends upon how you ride it. Pulsar 220F is a 100% VFM product, no doubt about it.

Due to power to penny ratio, it sells so much, headlights are projectors , only one under 1 L

Use Motul 300V and refill after 3500 kms and the bike will never complain. Keep AFR 3.5 to 3.75 turns, idle speed to 1100 on cold and 1600 on warm.

Depends on usage , dont alter afr .

This is the problem when you sell off your P220. You are left with no idea what to buy

Moral of the story: If you have a P220/ Karizma don't bother selling it just yet!!

EDIT: I see that you have increased your budget from 1.2 to 1.5. Great! Now increase it some more and get the Mojo!

Sometimes the truth is hard todigest. Bajajborrowed the blue prints when they had colaboration, which they still have. Thas what Bajaj has done now with KTM and came up with Ns200....Duke200 in disguise with some Indian flavoring.

Re: Sold Pulsar 220 , now which next ?

I too am looking for an upgrade to 220, I rode one from 2010 till ending of 2015 after that I had to sell it since it was old and asking for a huge money dump, I sold it for 26 k btw which I thought was good enough deal for a 5 year old bike. I'm in the same spot as you are and I find it hard to get a new bike which is a upgrade to 220 but the matter of the fact is there is very little other bike makers did to counter the 220 it was just too much of a VFM. So I'm now thinking if I want an upgrade from the 220, I want comfort, speed, usability and refinement over the 220 and it makes me turn towards TVS with their Apache RTR 200 4V since I have read every review of the Apache and the rs 200 which is the 2nd bike I have on my list.. I have choosen the RTR 200 4V over the RS 200 for the naked looks, easy services compared to a fully flared bike (50% of mech's wont touch a fully flared bike unless you pay them more since it takes time to take off the covers to get into the business) So I have went ahead and Booked a TVS Apache rtr 200 4V near my place and they have promised me the 1st one from the area to me in Matt Red color with carb, tvs tyres and non abs which for the price they are asking is a pretty good VFM. Now since it's a brand new bike I won't comment on a lot of things as of now but as soon as I get my hands over the bike I will be making a detailed review which will be unbiased regarding everything the bike is and if everything TVS has promised is true or not. Over all I have Ridden Rs 200, D200, RC200, CBR 250, and they have not satisfied the thirst of comfort, speed that I'm looking for in the bike. So I have high hopes for the TVS if they are able to deliver what other company's haven't. Hope this has assisted some of you. Chao!!

You do understand that the 220 evolved from the original pulsar motor, which was made by the "stars ahead" design team, headed by mr. Joseph Abraham, with body designs from a tokyo design house, way back in the early 2000s? It was there all over the automags back then and overdrive did a comprehensive 10 page+ article on it in 2001.

BTW. Kawasaki also sells the pulsar ns200 and ls135 abroad as the rouser 200ns and 135ls respectively. Kawasaki has made them too, is it? Where on earth did you get the idea of bajaj borrowing blueprints, i have no idea.

The following article explains the nature of bajaj-kawasaki partnership.
