The best thing would be to casually ask him as to which bike he likes the most. You can proceed with his choice. If I were you, I would have done this as you said that he likes biking very much. You might gift him something but he might not like it. A bike is more than a gift for a biking enthusiast. It's a part of life. So you don't want to go wrong with your choice.

This is just my two cents. The final decision will be yours.

    Cheers

        @ all..
Guys! Insted of suggesting her bikes like P220 or A Lakh ZMR try to Stick on her Requirments and keep an eye on her budget as well.
After considring all these things I dont Think Bikes like R15(costly),P220(not a renoved tourer), or new Zmr(costly) or bikes likes this should be here in the list!

Welcome to Xbhp. I think you should remove the 150s from the list, if he still rides a 150. It won't be worth it.
Also, consider removing RTR 160 as it vibrates a lot, despite being damn punchy (!).

For around 72k on road, you can get RTR 180 or Pulsar 180.
RTR's stock tyres are not grippy specially in rainy conditions, but that's a small issue.

The bigger issue with RTR is Rider's height. If its above 5'9", it WILL give problems to rider. Also, its more on sporty side...
I'm 6 feet and I can't own it. For short riders, its great!

Pulsar is well balanced. Somehow fits all heights, but engine does NOT seem that punchier, although its smoother now... And top end power is almost same.

From these 2, I suggest Pulsar despite some problems...

If you can spend some 76-77k on road, Pulsar 220 would be best! Good mileage, great performance, good equipments, etc...
He would definitely thank you for Pulsar 220. Trust me, in Indian Bikes, this is what we dream of, if budget is around 75k.

no one has suggested her the R15 or the ZMR .
also you are saying CBZ-x lacks pickup and then saying Fazer is powerful
the fazer also doesnt have a very comfatable pillion seat compared to other bikes in category .fazer also btw will be out of her budget

              Sanely!
              No brand wars..
Plus.. CBZx and Fazer have no comparison!
              Fazer is a class ahead!..
ZMA had been in sumones list here..and R15 I had included just for example!

Verdict: Insted of confusing her, Stick to the requirment and budget!

                    Go for Pulsar 180.
It suits your budget, has a fair enough pillion seat and looks good too!
You can consider GS 150R too,but as your fiance already rides a 150cc,it doesn't seem logical!

                        Oh...My God....!!!!
                        So may replies...!!

Thank you very much guys for all your feedback and suggestions, it really means a lot.
I am really sorry I am not able to reply to everybody. I will make it general.

Well most of the suggestions coming from many people is that I go for a bike higher than 150cc. As you guys said after riding 150cc for these many years he might want a more powerful bike. To be frank I never thought of that. Thanks for that suggestion.

As SHANZ asked me I had shortlisted the bikes by the reviews I read on Internet. Best bikes in that category sort of thing. No I did not go for any magazines.

Now as many suggested a more power bike would be good. Ya budget is there to think of but if it really worth it I do not mind spending some more money.

Yes as many said I tried to ask him indirectly which bike he likes. But believe me it is very difficult. As he knows I am not much interested in bikes and my sudden curiosity will certainly seem odd to him. And also he praises some bikes for some points and he points out negatives in that bike in the same breadth.

Well one more thing here. Most people are suggesting the Pulsar 220 cc and Hero Honda Karizma.
As per I have seen them on road and some pictures I take that the headlight does not turn with the handle I mean it is fixed straight (I do not know how else to describe it).
Well he does not like that thing as I have heard him say that sometimes. Well this might sound a bit odd to all you guys.
I frankly do not know why nor do I have any idea if it is good or bad.
So those two bikes might not be in contention.
The Yamaha Fazer I have not seen on road but as per the pictures I saw in net after you guys suggested it also seems the same.

So in the bikes left out I am really confused. As many of them are suggesting different bikes. RTR 160, RTR 180, CBZ, Pulsar 180, Suzuki GS150......
As I said the budget I can adjust a little if the bike is worth that. So please further suggestions are welcome.
                        Thanks again to all.

Well definately there would be positive n negative points in all the bikes. But the one in which you fiance is comfortable is the one which you should go for.

Yup you are true p120, HH ZMA n Yamaha Fazer all have there headlights stuck , so they dont turn along with handle bars...but trust me it doesnt makes any difference...but again its your choice which you have to take considering your fiance doesnt like it....so chuck these 3.... or else any one of the above three would have been a good choice.

I would suggest you shortlist RTR180 and Pulsar180 either of them would be good choice and as it is upgradation of power is onething which a biker always looks while going for another one.

And yes above all he is lucky to have you....who inspite of zero knowledge about the bikes is making such a beautiful effort for him... hats off to you Mam..... i hope you find all your answers out here relating to the bikes.... let us all know what your final decision would be...... cheers

I say go for the P220 Dtsi, trust me once he rides it he will forget about the fixed headlight. He has ridden the P150 for three years, so I am guessin he likes the Pulsars and the P220 Dtsi is the baap of pulsars. This is the most awesome power upgrade and within your budget.

has he ever spoken about Enfields? Just a question do not mean to confuse you even more.

Pulsar 180, I would suggest as it's more than 150 CC. Has got fatter tubeless tyres, has got the looks. Pillion ride would be bit difficult on long trips but with proper breaks, it shouldn't be an issue. Touring would be fun on an 180 CC.

Higher CC, go for 220 as its the best VFM product. Don't worry about headlight. Its is the BEST, trust me. I have done night trips & I never had any issue

That's just a matter of getting used too. If he's been riding a 150cc bike for such a long time i guess it's time he upgraded. If the p220/karizma is out of budget then i'd suggest the Pulsar 180 or the Apache 180RTR. Both the bikes are an decent upgrade from 150cc bikes.
