    The question is why not??

would you refuse or feel bad, if you someone gifts you a used SBK like R1 or supersports for that matter, a R6 or CBR600???

    slightly OT:
I would be a happy chap, if my girl-friend/fiancee gifts me a used rx100 too, hell i will be happy even if it is a hero puch lol.

for longer drives especially). What ever the bike I choose it should cover these two factors. So as long as these two factors are covered he would certainly be happy.
As the statistics go he is 6-7 inches taller than me,so he might be around 5-9” tall.

As per your requirements the best bike i can suggest is Karizma.

It is the most comfortable bike you can buy below 1 lakh.

It is ideal for long drives. Most reliable and gives you more than enough power.

Power+ Long drives the best you can get is Karizma.

RTR 180 is a wonderful machine but it is more sporty . The pillion comfort and comfort it gives for long drives cannot be match with the comfort Karizma gives.

Believe me headlight detached form the handle will not make any difference . ME too had this same doubt but after started riding Karizma i realized i is not at all a problem .

apache 180 and pulsor 220 are very wonderfull and poewrfull bikes and will thrill any performance enthusiaste but belive me it cant match the comfort Karizma gives (both for rider and pillion ).

Karizma is more smooth and relaxed and regarding the power it gives you more than enough power even though it cannot catch a P220 .. lol

But if you are too much concerned about mileage let me tell you straight for city drives it will give only 35 , for highway rides it will give you around 42 and if the bikes is running constantly in 110-120 for hours it will give you only 30 .

If fixed headlight & fairing is your concern.. i wud say its just a Change management... Even i was concerned about the fixed fairing of 220 before i go it... but after getting it.. i loved that change... it gives a big bike effect...

Costwise.. i don't think Apache 180FI and Pulsar 220 DTSI are of much difference...

I ride a pulsar 180 with a moving headlight (I'm in habit of it) ... But, whenever I ride my friend's Karizma or P220 with that fixed headlight, its a great feeling ...

It feels substantial and big - a feeling that is better than normal bikes.

I would still say - Pulsar 220. I won't suggest Karizma Carb, because it is too common now... It has its good points, but P220 is getting better than it now (OVERALL)...

Whether its power, headlights, grip, handling, ride posture, etc. ... Pulsar seems better, as I found out through test riding it.

However, Karizma has excellent ride quality and Pulsar doesn't come close to it. I Admit!

Liked that pocket money trick , but ur choices and ur brothers choices may be different.

Whatever you gift your Fiance would feel awesome because of your efforts.... well I atleast think so .
If u gift him discover he ll be like ... hmm not much to my liking but hey its a gift so lets not think much .
If u gift him a pulsar 150 or some other 150 again ... he might ride but feel kinda bored ....
If u gift some good premium bike , he would feel very happy again .

But Shilpi ji if u gift him the bike he dreams or adores ... he will not only be extremely happy but also remember the moment for long and will feel a sense of comfort and security in the fact that u know about his liking .

So even if RTR 180 or some other bike for that matter be the best bike out there according to people here , but some other bike may be the best for him ....

Again RTR is not a very much pillion friendly bike when it comes to women's likings . Some guys are there here who have changed their rides from RTR due to wify or gf recommendations .

And No GS 150 R according to me .

Enough of the psychological talks , but one suggestion . Why dont you try and involve one or some of his friends in the plan and ask through them about it . Select some one smart to talk .

              Best of luck
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

After reading the budget, requirements, likings/dislikings, i couldnt think of anything else but Avenger 200. A new one costs 72/73k (Same as RTR180), ;esser vibes than any RTR, there is no fixed fairing, great for long distances(for rider and pillion). I would like to call it Sofa on Wheels. (It even has a backrest for the pillion) Should be decent on mileage (My 220 gives me between 40-46, so can expect the avenger to be in the same range). According to me, its a better tourer than a bullet(Lesser breakdowns, Tubeless tyres, slifghtly better FE, better braking so he can confidently cruise at 100+ all day) (Dont beat me up Thumper fans). Anyways much more reliable than any RE. Decently Powerful (same as Karizma). Only the riding position will be a bit of an adjustment for an Ex-Pulsar rider. And a great looker.. lots of chrome, shiny everything. Get him a Red one...

I know, I myself own a 220, but seriously, believe me, the seats are nowhere in comparison to an Avenger. Pillion has a constant fear of falling off (due to the feroceous pickup + split grabrails at the back.) The saree guard on a 220 will have to be changed to a custom one becos someone (presumably you) wearing a saree cannot keep both feet on it.(Nothing to put your feet on, just a saree guard).

Decide on your own but dont leave an Avenger out of any comparo. Talk to any Avenger rider, they will swear by its comfort.

My 2 cents.. best of luck..

As you said that you can increase the budget if the bike is worth it..
I can say (read strongly recommend) Karizma for your fiance...

                        Reasons:
                        1. As he's been driving a 150cc from the past 3 yrs, a total change would just feel great...
                        2. One of the best bike in handling and specially Pillion comfort
                        3. Karizma feels great for city driving and for long rides its just perfect

Even I drove Pulsar for 4 yrs and then upgraded to Karizma...
And trust me.. It was awesome!

I dont say that the other choices are not good..
                        I just said my opinion

                        All the best..

Make sure you capture the moments in your fiance's face when he receives your gift

As mentioned by yaser and antz.bin, I would also suggest you to give Avenger and Bullet a thought. Both of them stand apart from the crowd and make your fiance unique on the road. Avenger is known as a sofa on wheels and Bullet would give him a macho feel.

Damn,,mate you just stole my words,,i was about to post the same thing in my free time,,anyways shilp, though this bike (avenger 200) is not in ur choice list,,but it superbly fits in all the criteria you have mentioned. No front fixed fairing, the most comfortable ride for a pillion( atleat this gift will extract some benefit to you too), its altogether a different bike in its own class and also pricewise it wont burn ur pocket much,,etc etc,,i think u should google it out ,,not trying to confuse further,,but then whats the matter when ur out for a good bike hunt.....
Make an informed choice,, GOOD LUCK ;-)

Thanks again guys for all your help suggestions and inputs.

As usual I am sorry I am replying again to all in general.
Well first of all to be frank I am really confused now. Many new bikes again.
Many people here are suggesting the AVENGER now I did not know much about this bike at all.
Just saw in ads. Well now this was not in my list. Again the Karizma also was not in my list.
Ok I will decide about those later. But before that I want to tell you all about today.
Well today was a eventful day. I had been to the Bajaj and TVS showrooms with my younger brother.
And he test drove the RTR 160 , RTR 180 and I was the pillion.!
My word the RTR 180 was simply superb. It has really awesome power. I never rode on a 180cc bike before.

After riding the RTR180 the RTR160 did not appeal to me. The 180 was really in a different plane. The showroom guya was really eager and he went on telling about the bike. Well I understood very little.

Now the problem is I liked the Pulsar 180 also!!!!
My brother was quick to point out that the Pulsar 180 does not have a Kick lever and its only Electric start. Now would this not be a problem????
I really had problems when my old Kinetic Honda would not start in winter with the electric start. Will Pulsar 180 have the same problem.
The story does not end here.
The next in the line was Pulsar220. The bike seemed really huge to me at the first sight. My brother too was a bit weary to drive it. But he did and I was the pillion.

Now the problem is I like all the 3 bikes.

But I think the Pulsar 220 and karizma might not be in my scope. I am not sure yet.

Well it is not like my dresses shopping where I take whatever I like. Here I have only one option.

                                RTR 180
                                Pulsar 180

                                Pulsar 220(not sure)
                                Karizma(not sure)
                                Avenger

Thanks again. I have really learnt a lot about bikes from you all.
