@ ram:
I was out with Ace and his cousin today. Our First stop was Jai Bajaj, adyar. We were greeted well and we spoke about financing and delivery. The sales rep insisted that all three take a test ride (Something amazing!). I stepped up for the ride at first and the bike was a dream as far as seating is concerned. I started up the engine and shifted to 1st and felt that the gearbox had gone through some major revamping. I found the flickability had changed thanks to the "220" 2 piece handlebar. I made sure I rode on bumps, despite the sales guy's warnings. The Suspension i felt was kind of stiff and i felt bouncy here and there. Next in turn was ace's cousin (who felt nervous that he would mess up). The minute he got her rolling all his fears were down the drain and he was quite fast enough to return from the test ride. I could see the spark in his eye and the smile on his face, which were more then enough to suggest that he absolutely loved the ride. We thanked the salesrep and I went to PBK for checking out the P-220. More on that later. We left for TVS with his cousin riding as my pilion ranting about the P-180.
The TVS showroom salesrep greeted us and took us immidiately to the Apache 160 Refresh and gave us a test ride. Since I've driven apache's in the past I stayed away but the guy kept insisting (My doubts started to fall on ace). I took the bike and went for a short sprint. Nothing Too great, except that Ace's cousin was kind of scared ,at the power delivery the Apache offers, and that signalled a immidiate no.
Next stop - Raj Yamaha for checking out the fazer. I knew that if the sales guy insisted that all three test ride the fazer, then Ace had defntly done sometin. This is exactly what happened. The Bugger had called up all three showrooms and told them that he would be visitng with 2 prospective buyers.( I had no intentions on picking up a new 4 stroker, whatsoever!!)
I was again pestered by the salesguy to drive the fazer and I was impressed by the touring stance but the front fairing felt odd to me.
Summing it up, I'd say that Pulsar still holds good in this view and that Bajaj truly is, Distinctly Ahead.

Mini test report
Thanks for the input ragav
I didn't say the salesrep that 2 people coming to see the bikes i said 3 people coming to see the bikes
Ok this is the input from my cousin
P180- He was very scared to take the test ride coz of the weight(147kg) so he took with a caution then after 5 minutes he came to showroom & i could saw some happiness on his face.I asked how's the bike he said superb(not the skoda car
)Good gear box, nice handling, beautiful power delivery, over all he liked the bike very much he showing his face like
& color is a problem to choose will come afterwards
A160(carb)- He took the bike for a spin & came back immediately i asked what happened he said too much power he can't control the bike i was like
after riding p180 he is saying for a160 too much power hmm.....
Fz 16- No test ride available that time so he sat on the bike for the seating position & said 'pure poser bike' i will consider this one also
So here is the final take either P180 or Fz16 or FZ-S(both are same nah except cosmetic changes)
The prices
P180-71k
Fz16-73k
FZ-S-75k
(he can go either fz-16 or fz-s)
I have to speak with his parents about this coz his parents are afraid not to buy him a powerful bike so that he might go into crash or somethin
A Special thanks for felix.ragav for getting my cousin from his place to showrooms for a 2-3 hours time

That was something different. He felt he could have handled it but felt that his height would be a hindrance.Originally posted by ACE_HUNTER View PostThanks for the input ragav

Pure Poser bike... Too harsh I'd say. Respectable amount of torque with a bit extra styling for the fazer..
Skip the thanks dude.. that's what xbhp is for!

And if you want to let him go with your choices, my choice would be the FZ16 purely because of the spectacular international looks, which I am sure he would LOVE to show-off as a college student.
But, like antz.bin said above, the mileage of the FZ16 could be a factor; in that case the CBF Stunner 125 would be a good option, albeit at a loss of power.
P.S: The Fazer (faired one) is also a GREAT looker, in my humble opinion. Do ask him to consider it as well.
Hey Karthik,,,,according to his requirement....65k...FAZER kicked out....(chennai OTR 81230....i got it for the same...)...FZ is a good bike for the budget(a little extended,though)....
problem with these YAMs is the mileage...expect anything between 30 to 40 or max upto 45(before 1st service)...depending upon traffic and riding style...
my FAZER is giving 40+/-2 kmpl as of now....coz i ride during peak hours....
What I like most about Yams...is the looks, quality, road grip, and confident handling due to nicely positioned centre of gravity...
No comments on RTR and CBF,,,as I have not ridden them yet...
If your bro is not OK with Yams...My suggestion would be Pulsar 180,,its good looking...and an able handler too,,,no idea about exact mileage though....(what I dont like.....Man!!!!there are too many of them....

)
and yes...do ask him to consider Honda Unicorn.....
P.S. :-You get into college on a Fazer...and every1 looks at you...happens with me everyday...even though its around one and a half months now

feels gr8...

Dude, ur cousin seems to be more inclined towards P180 for good enough reasons, & it is indeed awesome piece of machinery from bajaj so IMO try convincing him not to think much about other bikes (A160,FZ etc) & advice him 2 go 4 P180 straight away.. & tell him he wont regret the decision
PS-I ride FZ 16 limited edition, but still have more then enough respect 4 P180 to favour it coz its a proven & reliable machine.

@ Adarsh1398,Mitz,prakash_mvpa: He likes both bikes but the problem is what bike his parents gonna gift him as a birthday present still mysteries
he should wait for it
@ Adarash1398: The honda unicorn waiting period is 3 months here so he forgot the commuter bikes segment & i checked the post in chennai offline g2g thread.
@ Prakash_mvpa: Yes P180 is too common like P220
@ Mitz: He like the limited edition fz 16 but now not available
(Can you post your LE Fz-16 in your album so that every one can see
)

Yeah, FZ limited editions are a definitely worth another look in the crowd.. Especially Fazer limited edition is one of d best looking bike around. Further, I know the limited editions of FZ are no more on sales (atleast here in mumbai) coz I inquired in all showrooms in mumbai & i got lucky enough 2 get 1 of d last FZ16 LE available.. Check out my album 4 pics once they are approved by Mods.
PS: I still feel ur cousin wul love to get a P180, or settle with any of the FZ.

I think RTR 160 would be a good choice. Its got the looks and the performance to boot, and my friend used to get decent mileage out of it even after hard usage!

@ Mitz: Exactly all three bikes look super in the white & blue combo(Your's also
) but here in chennai there are some LE Fazer with delears but no LE Fz-16 & Fz-s available so he have to look either Fz-16 or Fz-s in normal colors if his parents did not want to buy P180.
@ Kwokfist: The A160 is the first bike to ruled out from the test ride coz he didn't like the seating position whereas he like the P180.Failure should never go to heart & success should never go to head, both makes a person to fall in life-Winston Churchill

Dude, LE Fazer is just too overpriced.. & i guess it wont fit ur budget.. Anyways FZ-s wud b a pretty good 2nd option after P180.
