^+1.. U can definitely think about CBZ if mileage is not such a great issue. Anyways CBZ will give u mileage at par with its competitors, Nice looks, HH reliability & above all, many people say its more comfortable for taller guys

@ All: Today is my cousin bro birthday but no response from his parents,he is still waiting their approval so let's leave this discussion here.

@ jeyeesh, mitz & maveric: He is also a fan of HH & Honda. Now he is targeting the P180,if his parents rejects the bike he would be going for the HH & Honda bikes(i heard the labor problem sorted out in HH & Honda plant)

Great!! I wish his parents settle with P180. Else, HH CBZ is not a bad option.

I know it would happen...You would be always contemplating the things instead of buying......so when he is going to get his ride??

Digging up the thread from the dead

Finally my cousin bro parents accepted to buy him a bike & he also passed out the ICWA(that's why his parents agreed to buy him a bike),but NO 180's! which made him pissed off . His mom called me that 'we need a bike with good price below 60k or i can extend to 3k+ for good bike(for their budget). What are the bikes comes under this price ? I told her there are several bikes to choose from like
(my preference for my cousin bro is at least the bike comes with front disc & 5 speed gear 1 down-4 up)

                The 150cc line up
Bajaj Pulsar 150cc(it may go beyond the budget but worth to buy)
Hero Honda CBZ Extreme(too good for a collage student)
Honda unicorn(will it good for him)
                Tvs Apache rtr 160 carb

                The 125cc line up

Honda cbf stunner(waiting for the new one)
                Yamaha gladiator

Owners of these steeds pls share your views here for choosing the rite bike for my cousin bro studying in collage.

Brother, I believe that you just can't say that 1 machine is better than the other completely. There are pro's and con's of all bikes and I shall list them for you.

                    Bajaj Pulsar 150cc
                    Pro's
                    1. Proven machine 9 years down the line and still sells.
                    2. Best mixture of power, mileage, vfm (but reliability is definitely questionable)

                    Con's
                    1. Reliablity as is the problem in all bajaj bikes
                    2. Too damn common!!

My verdict: Don't go for it. Better buy a bike that atleast your pan walla doesn't ride.

                    Hero Honda CBZ Extreme
                    Pro's
                    1. HH reliability
                    2. Good saddle height for tall guys like your cuz.

                    Con's
                    1. Styling.....well this is absolutely my opinion and will surely vary from person to person. If your cuz likes the looks then look no further.

My verdict:To me, the styling does not appeal. But if your cousin likes the styling, then you can go for this one too.

                    Honda unicorn
                    Pro's
                    1. Awesome mileage
                    2. No friggin vibrations
                    3. Honda reliability (although be careful as their SS aren't too good, but still the engine is a gem)

                    Con's
                    1. A typical commuter although it has a 150 cc block it still is a commuter. Your cousin will definitely not like this aspect.
                    2. Old, out-dated, plain looks

My verdict: Absolutely No for a college student, this is a bike meant to be ridden by people who aren't looking for what we young souls want (power + looks)

Tvs Apache rtr 160 FI (is the carb version still on sales?? I think TVS stopped selling 160 carb after the launch of 180 carb. As fas as my knowledge goes, 160 FI and 180 carb are the bikes available from the RTR series. Hence the pro's and con's listed and for FI)
                    Pro's
                    1. Hooligan nature of the RTR series
                    2. Lesser vibrations than the carb version
                    3. 55kmpl +/- mileage
                    4. I love the styling of the bike but I guess that varies from person to person.

                    Con's
                    1. Vibrations though less are still present.
                    2. Seating position is not good for tall guys.

My verdict: If your cuz wants a fast bike, look no further. With this one, he can smoke not only the 150's but also give tough competition to the P180. Although he might not be a great fan of the riding position after a long ride, but for city riding, this is perfect.

Also, I'd like to include another bike in this list. The recently launched pulsar 135.

                    Pulsar 135

                    Pro's
                    1. 4valve engine gives much more power from it's 135cc block.(Read as, your cousin can enjoy the power of a 150 while his parents stick to their phobia of bigger cc=more speed=more chances of crashing.)
                    2. Better mileage
                    3. New looks.(yeah, that's quite a lot when you take into consideration that it's a pulsar.)
                    4. Best features in class like digital speedo, tachometer, clip-on handle bars, split seats(Styling-wise the stunner does come into considertion but I've not recommended it due to reasons that I shall disclose later in this write-up)

                    Cons
                    1. New product so the market has not tested it. Although this is not as much of a con as a leap of faith.

My verdict: If your cuz's parents do not let him buy a 150cc bike, then buy this one; I would.

PS: I've not taken into consideration 125cc's like stunner and gladiator as they being 125cc bikes, your cousin will soon get bored with the limited power they produce. Also, 125cc bikes are better than 150 cc ones only in the mileage deptt. that too only by 5-10kmpl, so it is my very very strong recommendation that you do not buy any 125 cc bike for your cousin.

If put in your cuz's shoes, I'd buy the RTR160FI due to the points I've mentioned above.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

My suggestion is HH Hunk. It is an excellent allrounder. Good looks + HH reliability + proven smooth engine + good mileage + best suspension system.

If your friend is not looking at performance at the top end, CBF stunner would be a great option. It has got excellent pick up at the lower band and got stylish looks and returns excellent mileage.

Well you should elaborate on your cousin's requirements. Whether he needs power or wants performance or would just require mileage.

In these times of increasing petrol prices, I would say go for the bike which offers both.

Consider the Unicorn and Gs 150r which have the same price, have smooth engines and mileage 55-60. But in the looks dept, they do fall.

The hunk is also a good bike but is not a proven performer as compared to other HH bikes. A mileage of 50 plus and its the best looking 150cc bike from HH.

Don't go for the pulsar as its too common. The rtr 160 is a good performer but in stability and comfort, it is not a good option. Chances of strain are good.

Among the 125cc bikes, the stunner is the best looking of the lot and the gladiator is the most powerful.

ELSE I would suggest Unicorn anytime.

Parth the RTR 160 Carb is very much available .
@ ACE - I would suggest to choose between Pulsar135 , RTR 160 or XTreme/Hunk depending on budget and running .
