  • R15/zmr/Ninja 250

    Hello all,

First of all i am sorry if i am comparing r15 and zmr with the Ninja. But i am in a peculiar situation and need all the help that i can get.

I am planning to buy a bike by feb 2010. But am dead confused what to go for. I have previously owned p180, kzma premium sports and recently sold my karizma r. Having used karizma for so long am not too keen on the zmr. R15 is tempting especially with the kit. I have 1 lakh 20,000 with me in cash. I have done enogh of touring and am not so keen on highway trips no more. I need something faster, zippier and cheer performer. I am not too sure of the financing bit of ninja....is it wise to make downpaymnt of what i have in hand and finance it or jus get r15 with no loan on my head. Please help . Thank you

No idea abt the Ninja 250 but my personal experience is that u can't be happy with an R15 after getting habituated to the torque of ZMA

I have mentioned the affordabilty situation at the start of the thread. 1,20,000 in hand. So looking at it, what do i do.

get the Ninja 250 financed , Zma to r15 is not too much of a power upgrade.

Since you are saying that you are not much into touring, I would suggest you avoid the Ninja, as it will not be a good commuter at all. Its right place is the highway.
Overheating&ground clearance issues will eat into your fun&maybe even make you regret buying the bike spending all that amount.
On the other hand R15 is built keeping Indian conditions in mind, huge ground clearance&best features possible in a lakh of rupees. You don't need to think before taking it anywhere. I believe that is the right choice.
Btw, its great fun revving it up in traffic&no other Indian bike comes even close in the handling department.
                      Quench my thirst with gasoline!

                        ^^^ +1
                        totally true..
i had all my doubts about d R15 before buying it, especially with everybody complaining about its power on lower revs but its not that bad.. i just fly through traffic and daily commuting is not a hassle..
                        handling is just superb!

@Sarvajit : Have u ridden the Ninja? How can u make such assumptions that the bike wont be good for city riding? Do u know the bikes roll on figs for 4/5/6th gear at low speeds? Dont come to a conclusion without riding a bike mate

If u really dont care about the cash, go for the Ninja. U will not get bored of it fast and the bike can not only handle city traffic but can be a very good companion for high speeds. It looks great, handles like a dream.. in short, it is worth it. My 2 cents

                            I agree with Sarvajit & J!Tz..

The Ninja would be impractical for non-touring use, & since you're not keen on another Karizma, the R15 should be the one for you..

PS: How about the new P220! Not on your list eh?

Go for ZMR, more relaxed for commuting and touring compared to R15. A test drive should help you to choose b/w ZMR and R15.

If money isn't issue then go for the twin cylinder Ninja !!!
