If you have a racer DNA and want a real hardcore performing machine then go for R15.
and if you want a street bike which maintains a balance between extreme performance and indian requirements then go for P220.

Overall for what buddy? There must be some things more important to you than others. Let me help you by listing them out (in no particular order). Arrange them according to your priority and then we can help you. You're obviously welcome to modifying/adding your own.

        - Straight line performance
        - Handling, goes hand in hand with stability, braking
        - Performance more appropriate on the track, or curves etc.
        - Value for Money
        - Technology
        - Comfort over long rides
        - Top Speed
        - Poser Value !!!
        - Engine vibes, build quality etc.
        - Mileage (yeah its valid :P )

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but i am also in similar dilemma. Currently own a Pulsar 150, DTSI. My main usage would be to commute from Home to office and back(45KMS daily), which is on the outer ring road. I might not do a lot of touring, as i might be using my car for that. Do let me know the ideal bike for my requirements.

Be Indian and Buy Indian. Go for the P220 unless you want to experience a slick Japanese sports bike before you grow old enough that your senses go bland

it is better you stick to your P150 DTSi (guess it is UG2). It would serve your purpose very well, is among the most beautiful bikes we've seen on the roads. Don't waste your money on a new bike when the existing one serves you well and that you don't have a special purpose to buy the new one...

AFAIK pulsar 220 dtsi and yamaha r15 has different specs, but regarding performance(acceleration, top speed) approximately same.
but what about reliability of engine after 30k kms.which one will able to give same performance as it was.other things are
                1.road grip
                2.riding comfort
                3.mileage
                3.maintenance
                4.cost of parts

                  Go for teh Yammie
LIL bit costly, even to maintain
But is teh BEST you can get IF YOU WILL KEEP IT ABOVE 4-5 KRPM

coz ther are people who complain low Pickup, and never take it to WHAT IT DESERVES!

I know my 150 can serve the purpose which it is doin very well. But, after riding it for 4years/40K Km's i need somethin more exciting,Fun to ride machine.

Both 220 and R15 suit your purpose pretty well. Or for that matter, any new 150+ cc bike in the market.
If its mostly commuting you will be doing, then why not think about the FZ. It looks great and is supposedly fun to ride.
There is no general answer to the 220/r15 debate. Each bike does different things.

I may be wrong but have this feeling that Fz is no different from other 150's in the market, except for the looks.
After riding a 150 for over 4 years, my mind/heart says go for something bigger and better.
I know R15 is a 150, but it is an exception.

                          4.cost of parts
Those questions have some obvious answers.
                          1) Yammy. But would you really push your bike to those extremes?
                          2) Subjective. Ergonomics are far better on the Yammy but the Pee has almost upright seating
                          3) Both are similar if not the same. But that was with the DTS-FI. With the DTSi I hear two extremes
                          4) The Pee is cheaper to maintain but the Yammy doesn't trouble you as often. I'd still vote for the Pee here.
                          5) People have hardly seen the need to replace parts on the Yammy... not sure exactly but yes the Yammy's parts are more expensive than the Pee's.

And about reliability, I cannot comment here as many people think that running for 30-40K KMs without touching the engine means that the bike is very reliable. In that way, both are reliable but you definitely know which one would last.

Then the RTR or the FZ 16 it is for you. If it is the fun factor and handling then these two bikes outclass every other bike in the segment.

You need the RTR 180. You will be more than happy. All the best.

Regarding the other tussle between P220 and R15. Neither of the bikes will disappoint. Both are amazing machines in their own right and its not correct to compare them like this. One is made for the track and the other for the streets. Take a test ride of both if you have not already and pick the one that you feel most comfortable on.

I did have short ride on RTR and it did not appeal to me. same with ZMA-R. I guess ZMR will be no different.

So i am left with either R15 or P220. I will also try to get a test ride of FZ16, as most of you recommend it for its fun factor.

But in all probability, i might go for one of P220/R15.
