How LAME can that be .... please advice something which makes sense or just avoid posting.... if its a product of MIGHTY YAMAHA you can keep it for 4 - 5 years and if its a POOR BAJAJ... then you cant keep it for 4 to 5 years .
how can you say this , ive seen so many yammys... yes YAMAHA ... getting down in the time span 3years .... and there are many xbhpians who are doing WELL with there 220FI and 220F too....

And its totally upon the USER how he maintains his bike..... any well maintained bike whether it be HH,yamha, bajaj , TVS...or any XYZ... can serve you for 5years Minimum... !!

    - Nice posture to control the flow of the bike
    - Tyres are ok, you can change them for better grip
i dont want to write again for reliability thingy.
Nice posture : and i thought it gives a backpain if you ride it for hours. [120 kms daily in this case]
and i thought R15 has one the best tyres and has one of the best grip on Road.

I am confused with which bike to own ?

    I have only 2 options i.e P220 or R15.

I am going to cover 60km daily way to my office (120km bothside).

    mileage is no issue.

i have gone through several threads for R15 and P220 but still confused.

i want to invest once for next 4-5 yrs.

As R15 is FI and with 6 gears a good technology same side P220 is a wild beast.

Both bike fights for 135+ km/hr speed.

i have heard that R15 shows it's power above 6k rpm, is this true?

i will going through the highways 60 km---40km of NH and remaining 20km city ride.

please suggest me which one to buy, because i need safety and comfortability too. i mean tyre, grips, performance , maintenence, future of the bike, and latest technology.

    Thanks in advance
    Both of them are good.

P220 F with more power , better headlight spread , bulky tyres , excellent riding posture , more torque , BETTER VFM , better straight line performance.

So you think Yamaha has launched R15 taking into consideration of the suffering business of Orthopads in our country????

Or you say people who tour on the R15 for hours, are fools? or have wolverine powers to heal their backs every 10-15 hours???

I can personally know many xBHPians who have done many many tours on R15 without complaning of back pain etc. 2 of our xBHPians are currently on the way to Leh on R15, a fellow xBHPian has completed IBA ride on a R15, none complain of a back ache cos of R15 position.

When i say excellent riding position, i mean the way you can use you body weight in cornering, you have to ride that bike to understand it, and sure lets not talk about the reliability, just go check with a regular mechanic about the number of P220s visiting his shop vs number of R15s....you will get the answer....

Dinesh :Any "R" bike or for tht matter aggressively postured bike will give pains after years of usage.

not to say that it is immediately uncomfortable but in the long run it does tend to harm more than relatively relaxed posture bikes.

I too travel a daily of 120kms & this is my personal observation.

but than again --what the heck --5-6 years down the line all this is anyways gonna change & I will probably be on a HD so time for merriment for me is now

i know R15 is one of the best bikes present in india now ... and whatever you are telling i dint say anythng ... i know there are many xbhpians who did there massive touring on R15 ... never forget that there are ample of xbhpians who got lehied on there 220 too... reliability issue i know , but if you can maintain well you can EASILY ride it for 5 years without any MAJOR issues.
Every bike has niggles none is perfect ... its just that how you maintain it and ride it .
i dont want to start a 220vs R15 fight here.
you took it to a different direction mate ... i was just pissed off with the people who call it unreliable every now and then....
why the heck we cant ride a pulsar for 4 - 5 years ....according to you people .... i just dont get it ... there are so many examples in front of you ... but i always forget its a waste to say because some mentalities will never change.
and BTW i know 220s visit svc quite often ... but then the pleasure WE get riding makes us forget all ....
          anyways chuck it ... peace.

            Chill buddy,

I dont deny P220 being a nice machine, i have seen many P220 getting Leh'ed and i have seen many P220 running without glitches for years as well.

But I myself was of the opinion that riding a R15 leads to back aches etc, but after riding one I realized that its not the way it looks.

@thread starter : Sorry for this unwanted discussion, I would totally recommend a R15.

I suggest you to go for P220dtsi. It is an excellent machine made in India.
              +Points -
              1) Aggressive look
              2) Projector Head lamps
              3) 21BHP (highest than r15)
              4) sitting Position is very comfortable (semi sports)
              5) FE gives 35 to 42.(same as R15)
              6) Good & comfortable on highways 4 cruising over 100+.
These are very important factors of p220 which make it a fastest indian bike.
About the reliability it's upon the person to person as any bike which is well maintained will last for years & low maintained bike will die early.

So juss get your test drives & decide your self which1 u liked & which 1 is more comfortable for u

              happy & safe biking

                can i suggest something?
if possible try to take these 2 bikes on your office route once/twice for the sake of observation. and notice the different characteristics of the 2 bikes. for some the R15 feels uncomfortable after a while, whereas there are people who dont have any such problem. Pulsars in most cases require more attention and care in the long term than few others. I am on to my second Pulsar now and can say this. But still if possible take a look at the Karizma too. For your needs, it should be a very sound choice too. good luck for the decision.
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

A R15 has more sporty stance than a 220. And after 80kmph only an eagle can beat the biggest pulsar. But R15 too a great competitor!

Depends on what kind of rider you are

R15 - If you want to ride at higher speed and rev hard .At higher speed R15 is most stable.Great technology and superb looks. If you want to cruise easily upto 80 km/h then R15 is not good choice because low end torque is poor. Check out the riding position by taking long test ride.

P220 - great torque throughout. Highest power in its class. Great features - 21bhp, rear disk, projector light , clip on etc . Fastest Indian ( If you ride at speed such as 140 ) .Real VFM.Negatives are relatively(Compared to HH/Yamaha) less engine refinement and not ao good built quality. You might have to visit SC often . But if you maintain it well then you will be able to keep it for year ( not sure how many )

do consider Karizma R - it suits your needs very well. You will be able to cruise effortlessly due to great low end torque .Very comfortable riding posture , refined engine. You will be able to keep it easily for 4-5 years or even more. Negatives are dated features - no clip ons , digital speedo , rear disk and low power , very expensive parts ( but you will have to change them rarely ) . If you want features along with refinement then consider ZMR ( but comes at higher price and love it or hate it looks )

no bike is perfect , each bike has its pros and cons .If you want rev hard -R15, If you want features , performance and raw power - P220, If you want butter smooth engine and effortless, comfortable cruise at moderate speed -karizma. Test ride each bike and you will get your answer

the only problem that u might face will be the riding posture of the R15, considerin you are gonna be doin 100+kms/day.
you might wanna consider somethin less sporty if you wanna be comfortable doin the ride everyday. Try lookin at some of the other bikes in the segment, but, if you're stuck on these bikes i would put my money on the R15(though acc. to me it's not a VFM)
I used a Pulsar dtsi 150 for almost 6 years, and me or my bike didnt bang any wall, during this years i have completed 70k+ kms on odo and did not open its engine for any reasons,i dont feel any powerloss nor ride quality loss, its not about the bikes its how u maintain it..
                        @TS
Both bikes are good,u will not regret after taking one follow ur heart

                              Yamaha R15 shakes on road

Friends i did what you all said me to do in my previous thread which bike to buy Yamaha R15 or Pulsar 220 ?

I took the ride of bothe bike on th highway, as said by one of the member here.

i din't find a big difference in comfort level in both, both were near to each other.

i drove the both the bikes at range between 110-125Km/hr Speed.

Both were good to handle but there was a big problem with R15.

when ever i used to over take any trailer or big trucks then R15 use to shake a bit with the force of air exerted by wind speed and truck.

i noticed this alot at speed of 115km/hr+ R15 shakes on road if you over take a truck of speed 80-90 km/hr speed.

i am really shocked, where as P220 don't shake while overtaking at 120km/hr+ speed to truck at 80-90-100 km/hr.

The roads where tested this was eastern express highway.

why did R15 shakes with wind pressure cut by truck.

Due to it's light weight or what ?

Drove R15 to days and P220 two days ..

All the time R15 shakes if i over take a truck at speed of 115km/hr.

                              Please explain why R15 and P220 don't ?
