But that doesn't mean all are equally reliable, or are they?

Personally, P220 has more short comings unlike the R15 which is a perfect bike since it was launched. The only good thing other than the performance in P220 are its projector lights. However, the chassis and suspension package is quite far behind than number of other bikes and has lot to improve. Recently, as per BS Motoring, FZ defeated P220 in three different track tests just because of its better handling, chassis/suspension combination!

R15, WOW! What a bike! Extremely reliable, extremely smooth, extremely stress free at high revs/speeds, extremely good looking, extremely well built, extremely good performance. In P220, other than the performance, nothing else is extremely good, everything else is average. My personal experience says that R15 is more stress free and feels noticeably better at higher revs. The engine is a gem unlike that of a pulsar which is behind in overall rideability.

The point is, if you have the money, go for R15. And yeah, its extremely easy to ride in traffic!
The ownership thread gives a real insight onto each motorcycles.
    needn't say anything further.

Purchasing R15 makes a better sense. Its more reliable & better than p220 in many aspects. Both bikes have have their own pros & cons. But i feel that the R15 would suit you the best.
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Completely agree on the handling part dude, P220 has lots of catching to do with R15 on handling part, but the big question is where apart from track will you be able to put the beautiful handling capabilities of r15 at work in everydays chore?
Depending upon ones rides, he maybe classified as a)Tourer b)Commuter c) a tourer cum commuter
how many of them visit track frequently here?? For track i agree the obvious choice would be the R15 but still from practicality point of view (touring) a p220 will be more comfortable.
You told that you own a bullet, so you'll be very well aware of the torque importance while touring.
For a tourer a torquey bike makes more sense than a revv head and for a commuter the riding stance is most important, as the r15 is sports inspired you'll not be very comfortable riding it for long hours inside the city as well.
I got to ride the R15 last week for a longgg trip and i must say the handling and braking capabilities are excellent!!! Excellent may be underrated term for R15 however after settling down (three hours countinous cruising,) my lower back and arm started complaining, I tried to adjust myself and tried different positions but still it wasnt of much help.
I know, i know many of them have toured here extensively on a r15 but its the rider not the ride in these cases, I'm sure the journey would have been much less straining on say a Zma or a P220.
The R15 is an excellent piece of machinery but do take a look at its negative points too. It depends on what exactly you want from a bike, if you ride daily more than 80kms and tour extensively then R15 is not an appropriate bike i feel.

These magazine's are crazy, if you take it from their perspective then how about a track session between Pulsar 135 and bullet 350?? will it make sense? I'm sure P135 will give some serious run.
In this case Not just an FZ, unicorn and RTR too pose a great threat to P220 on the track which is not at all 220's forte. The 220 was built and has grown as a tourer cum straightline machine. Track is not 220's forte. On a similar comparision it'll be very bland to compare the unicorn / fz's straightline's capability with 220 as 220 will run rings around them.
At the end, dont go by the track abilities of a bike. Day to day activities will be entirely different from track's environment.
        Fun Starts at Redline!!!

Beautifully put. Agreed on each and every point.

Finally today i brought my lovely bike

            Guys,

Today finally i brought my Yamaha R15 black home.

After 2.5 yrs of rigorous thinking which bike to buy and how to buy, today i brought my Yamaha R15.

There were many confusion between R15 or P220 ?

After going through many portals and forum finally decided for R15.

I chosed this bike because of it's technology and performance.

Prior to this i used to ride Kawasaki Aspire for 10 yrs. (A very big time) but very happy with my Aspire(The 110% bike).

            Yamaha simply rocks!!!!!!!!

How time passed and how i raced through those years. today again i was in my flash back days, when my Dad, Mom and i had went to buy the Kawasaki Aspire in year Aug 2001. Same feeling was today too.

Aspire was gift to me from my Dad and Mom.

This time i owned Yamaha R15 by myself.

Today i feel proud to be an Owner of Yamaha R15.

It worths Rs 1,12,500.Far superior technology in india. yet to be followed by other Companies.

            Happy Riding.
