WHICH BIKE TO BUY Yamaha R15 or P220

      yes...there is a lot of difference in weight which makes bikes like Zma or P
      220 go stable while high speed driving...

        Drove R15 to days and P220 two days ..

        What you experienced is true.....
        But the point is, i ride on EE highway every single day, i ride a Karizma-R and it is rock steardy while overtaking vehicles (specially trucks) at 110 + speeds.

        But on EE highways there is cross winds lots of time, at such times my karizma would shake while overtaking.

        I have ridden R15 on that road and it does shake while high speed overtaking....but it doesnt shake thaaaaaaaat much....

          I THINK 220 IS DE BEST CHOICE ......IF U DONT MIND FOR MILAGE......U BETTER TEST BOTH OF DE BIKES U ILL FEEL DE DIFFERENCE IN POWER N PICKUP...............

              I use to do a lot of Baroda - Ahemdabad up and down on R15 and i have done somewhere around 30K on highway alone riding my R15. Well i usually use to tuc in while overtaking trucks and cars at high speeds, the fun part of driving R15 on the highway is that when you push her, you don't feel you are taking her to the limits nor do you feel you are overdoing it. R15 is the most affected bike in cross winds and that's because it's meant to cut winds...

              FYI, it's wind tunnel tested. (Fazer as well)

                Ideally R15 is the best out there and thts what i recommend......go for the P220 only if you really hate R15 riding posture or your on a budget

                  you go for r15.. it is the best bike ever i seen you will get noticed in the street and definitely r15 is a head turner too

                    dude do r15...itz de best bike on town,,,p220 is also a good bike, but nothing can beat R15 in its engine refinement and riding posture....i test rode r15 a month after i got fz on 09..thn i felt de biggest mistake i hav commited by not getting a r15...it was damn awesome..itz a killer bike, head turner and more thn tht itz yamaha...

                        R15 is lighter and being fully faired cross winds affect r15 the most.

                        wind tunnel testing is done for winds head on and not from side.

                        both R15 and P220 has its own merits and demerits ........so decide wisely.......but whichever bike you choose....you will not regret much......

                        if you want to lean heavily in corners and you like the styling of R15 very much and........more stopping power...go for R15

                        if you want better straight line performance, the fastest indian, less shaking during crosswinds or while overtaking trucks.....go for P220.

                        consider your own weight also .....if you are more than 80 KGS go for P220, coz smaller engines are suffered more by weight changes, this effect will be more with a pillion.

                          ^ absolutely correct, but what i also meant was when they are wind tunnel tested, this bikes are meant to cut winds, so when there is a cross wind this will majorly effect them, due to there aerodynamic body.

                            Well, R15 isn't so raw to make u go nuts. Well, the P220s & F both surprise and ends all melancholy that resides in the body. Every time you wring the throttle, a new sense is being made. As far the test drives are concerned, they aren't generous enuf to give it for a 100 km spin :-)

                              Yamaha R15 Testing on Eastern express highway

                              Friends,

                              I am writing this experience which i felt on my friend's Animish Satam 's Blue R15.

                              This write up is dedicated to Animish Satam my friend

                              The day was Thursday 1st July 2010.

                              At mid night 1:30 am, i and my friends came out of my company to take a walk after having dinner( yeah! i and my friends eat at that time).

                              After stepping out of the entrance i thought of testing R15 to it's all perspective angles.

                              I was thinking of testing it, as i wanted to figure out the exact numbers for R15 and P220.
                              I have driven P220 and i must say it has a great pick up and power.

                              But i was always in the favour of Yamaha from heart but kept Bajaj P220 on lips due to it's pick up and power, speed.

                              The day had come finally when i decided enough is enough, it's time to come out of the Bias mind state.

                              I asked Animish for the keys of his bikes, his heart started beating at above normal beat rates. Because he knew i will be riping his bike to it's limit as i did previously. He was in double mind to give me the keys or not, but he gave me as i was his only GolGuppa friend.

                              I brought the bike from company's parking lot.

                              As soon as sat over the bike and opened the throttle i started feeling like Valentino Rossi for that moment.

                              I took it over the high way. I have read many forums and posts about the R15 behaviour and it's life terms. I was on my home work from past few months.

                              I tested the Few points on R15:-

                              1. R15 doesn't perform in lower Bands
                              I opened the thottle upto 4000-5000 rpms, measured the running and power performance. it's true R15 acts as a normal bike at lower bands.

                              2. R15 Performs like jet takeoff at higher bands:-
                              I ripped the throttle above 6000 rpms and bike started showing it's attitude like a "Cheeta" and Roaring like a lion (firing).
                              In no time bike touched 115km/hr and went to 128km/hr.
                              R15 at higher bands is as good as Fighter Jet speed on the high way.

                              3. Stability and Handling:-
                              At a speed of 100km/hr and 110km/hr i was z zigzagging as a Dolphin in water.
                              Stability was rocking, very strong and concrete touch with the road, as tyres are glued with feviquick to road.

                              4. Thin Tyres:-
                              I braked the bike at speed of 115 km/hr, it was a sudden braking, i was surprised to the behaviour that tyres didn't skid or draged in any sense.
                              Tyres are made of soft compound and really hats off to yamaha R&D. excelent tyre technology.

                              5.ridding position was real sporty, it helps a lot air passing through our chest down to stomach and dividing it to either parts of legs.

                              After all testing now it was the time to race !!!!!

                              One Indica passed me at 100km/hr, i started racing with him and soon he realised that i was racing with him. He raise his car speed to 110+ km/hr but i slashed him with 125+ km/hr speed.

                              Seeing these race one skoda guy started racing with me and he showed me the power of it's TDI 1900 cc power naming skoda rider.

                              He overtaked me at i guess 140+km/hr speed. He wanted to show that who was the boss. But as usual few seconds traffic, gave me the chance to show what is R15 and what can these machine do in respect to 150cc:1900cc

                              i was not ready to give up. i took the advantage of R15's delta frame chasis ability. zig zagging at speed 115-120 km/hr in traffic.

                              And i maintained the winnership attitude for 5-10 minutes unless Skoda got the free express way to cruise at again 140+ km/hr.

                              I think i gave him a tough race.

                              Now after storing the points of R15 and P220.

                              1. R15 had much far ahead handling stability then P220 at higher speeds. R15 rocked here.

                              2. Breaking was excellent then P220. R15 rocked here

                              3. Complete sporty feel.

                              4. R15 makes us feel what higher bands are? Excellent technology.
                              R15 has the class of international level of sports. P220 has a raw power but it acts like a big un technical research, where as R15 is a real piece of engineering.

                              In real sense R15 worth 1 lac price for it.

                              "There are no Free Lunch in these World"


                              Now i am clear with what i am going to buy.

                              Yamaha R15 Red color.

                              No offence with P220 owners
