My eyes are set on buying a R15 but I am unsure if the bike will suit me. I am over 6 feet tall and weight around a 100 kgs. Will there be any problems (back problems etc) for me on this bike or should I consider another bike?

I opted for Pulsar 220 because i did not had the budget to go for a new bike in either of two categories and I am determined to graduate to a sbk three years down the line. I got a immaculate conditioned 220 for 65k that wouldnt have been possible for a R15, plus with lots of touring, the lights which is absolutely REQUIRED for a myopic eyes, the low end torque that is again required for zip zapping through bangalore traffic i decided on the Pulsar 220. Cost of spare parts was also a consideration. One fall the fairing breaks and i know if its bajaj its just a matter of 1.5K.

Handling in corners is not too bad as some makes it out to be though, agreed it does not feels as planted as the R15 and tends to veer away with the power it has, but there are drawbacks in everything.In my opinion it is good enough if your not hitting the tracks, because i dont intend to take corners in Indian roads at 100++ be with R15 or Pulsar 220, even if i do thats for very brief period to give another more brownie points over the other. Just love the low end grunt of Pulsar 220.

The stock R15 healights are not good for 100+ speeds, i wonder that if u were able to see the roads at 125+ speeds, its not just harmful to you, you may end up hitting an innocent bypasser/ slower two wheeler (with dim tail light) on the road. Do take care, xbhp is all about safe riding. please do not put xbhp sticker on your bike and do all this

Sometimes pillion comfort is a important factor in deciding for a bike, for me I really required it as most of the times in tours i am not really alone and end up being the pillion lugging a big camera.

P220 for TORQUE & VFM and R15 for everything else...

Beating a skoda are you making fun of yourself.

I said clearly R15 was not near to skoda in anyways. i didn't win with skoda. i wrote above that skoda use to pas me as he will be at 140+ km/hr.

150+km/hr is nothing for skoda.

i didn't win with skoda.... few callcenter cabs which usually run on roads at night where in between the roads. then only i was able to overtake skoda, because skoda is wide in size it had to reduce it's speed.

try to understand the bike feel rather then mis reading the post.

Go for P220 because your weight is the major concern and your height too.

200 cc will easily take your weight and ride as usual.

I would be interested to know the meaning of Value For Money!!

Many here recommend P220 as a value for money bike over R15 or almost any other bike. Value for YOUR money, would be more appropriate! It definitely differs from buyer to buyer. With the highest top speed at a very affordable price seems mouth watering to many. But what about everything else? Nowdays, any bike can take you to Leh, safely. But that doesn't mean all are equally reliable, or are they?

Personally, P220 has more short comings unlike the R15 which is a perfect bike since it was launched. The only good thing other than the performance in P220 are its projector lights. However, the chassis and suspension package is quite far behind than number of other bikes and has lot to improve. Recently, as per BS Motoring, FZ defeated P220 in three different track tests just because of its better handling, chassis/suspension combination!

R15, WOW! What a bike! Extremely reliable, extremely smooth, extremely stress free at high revs/speeds, extremely good looking, extremely well built, extremely good performance. In P220, other than the performance, nothing else is extremely good, everything else is average. My personal experience says that R15 is more stress free and feels noticeably better at higher revs. The engine is a gem unlike that of a pulsar which is behind in overall rideability.

The point is, if you have the money, go for R15. And yeah, its extremely easy to ride in traffic!

But if you have the money, R15 should be preferred anyday, with closed eyes.
