    • PSR: wow that KB looks great - lovely condition - looking at it is making me to want to get my KB repainted/chromed as well. The color looks good and no lines have given it a simple sober look.

Here is the pic of my KB100.
        Thank you psr!!
Soon, will be posting pics & restoration story of Norton 16 H.
Have completed the Run-In & test ride.
(as I was out of town for past couple of weeks, couldn't post it)
Any way, here you see yet another NOn- Polluting 2 Wheeler, into my garage:
        RALEIGH ROADSTER 24" Bi-Cycle { Senhind}

This Tall Framed Bike is 24" ( our common bicycles are just 22" stuff)
Frame number says the YOM as 1950

        • My Fractional Horse power Gas engine powered Bi-Cycle

HERCULES Rockshoax ....India's First Bicycle to have " Hydraulic Front & rear suspension"
At mid '70's , Rallis India ( The leading fertilizer & pesticide manufacturer) took up the job of getting the " Hercules 22" Bicycles from TI { Tube Investments} & fixed their Gas powered Engines used in their sprayers & marketed through their RALLIS INDIA outlet through out the country, but not before Modifying the "Stationary frac power engine" ,with Clutch & Lighting generation, which is must for any automobile.
Just note the pics posted here!!
Can notice the Engine case has provision to fix the engine to the bottom corner of the Bi cycle main frame.
With reasonable price & with good fuel average ( nearly 100kms/liter)
This 22" All Rigid motorized cycle failed, due well known reasons, none other then:
Bending of Wheel rims, cracking frames & unpleasant ergonomics, etc.,
Slowly Rallis India, dropped the project,
Now back to my Hercules Rock shox
The previous owner of my Rockshox, got out of the bed from the other side & took up the challenge ,once TI Cycles Introduced ROCKSHOX (with hydraulic suspension) transplanted the this 35cc engine & upgraded the brakes with DRUMS.
Due to unknown reasons, he parted the machine...so now in my hands.
2 missing parts like Original Fuel tank & Exhaust was sourced on the same day itself.

Thank you, the paint is 7 years old ! The paint was baked in oven after painting for 4 hrs which had made it strong. I am going to change the Crank shaft big end bearing, main bearing, and bore it to 2nd oversize change all oil seals etc..since it suffered many seizures due to oil pump failure at high RPM.But I had always managed to drive away and continued to survive. In the past 15 K Kms it had suffered 4 seizures and so I will be opening the engine next week.

                Nopes!!......its not Villiers
Rallis India had their own gas powered 2 stroke engines, for their Pesticide SPRAYERS.
@ psr : Just closely observe the engine ( posted pic), you can see these engines doesn't have separate CYLINDER HEAD, the Barrel is integrated with the HEAD as a single unit.
" The top portion of the cylinder is closed, where the combustion chamber is formed with provision for the spark plug"
..Do you know these puny stuff revs up to 18000 RPM at no load conditions.

                  • Powertwin thanks for the clarification..I did see the The engine barrel and head being one unit and was wondering how rework can be done..I think you will have to change the piston and barrel as a set ? The Carburetor is quite known to me..it is the same type I had seen in my first geared moped marketed by Kinetic. It was called Kinetic Spark and was a very reliable and fuel efficient vehicle. Surprised to know that the Rallis engine can rev to 18 K RPM...

                      Yes
, mostly these type of frac horse power 2 strokes have " Hard chromed" or " Nikasil Coated" Barrels, so ,needs replacement, however at rare circumstances , HC barrels can be sleeved with SG cast Iron Liners, with slight compromise in performance, but nothing can be done at " Nikasil" coated cylinders.
About developing high RPM : Not only this particular " RALLI" engine, mostly these type of 2 strokers, with low torque characteristics, rev steep at no load conditions.

Sorry buddy just my Grey cells opened
I did my Mechanical & production Engineering, NOT AUTOMOBILE, at my days(at early '80s), think only AC tech had Automobile faculty among all the 9 engg colleges, which came under DOTE ( Directorate of technical education ) Tamil Nadu.
@ Budding engineers : The reply to this quote may look, " Out off Topic"
,but had to know this, since the number of Engineering Colleges( @ Tamil Nadu) has crossed the 3 digit, think way heading to touch "K" s in near future.
BTW..can some body suggest few Colleges offering Automobile Engineering with quality at TN ??? ( mean real quality)
