  • Well, i guess the trip went well except for the fact that there was a crash !
I am abit sad that in past so many experiences on G2Gs we never had any crashes until past 2, and tat 2 inexperienced riders ....
I think its partly our mistake also, we ride fast and ofcource young blood tends to act on same lines ... which sometimes gets out of hands, this is exactly wat had happened during our Kashid trip, Chetan remember ?
But again , guys this is serious now, we cant have such g2gs with crashes everytime. just spoils the mood.
Its a good thing tat all have riding gears but tat alone cant replace experience.
Something has to be done here.
@Chetan : good that u waited man, i really cant imagine wat Rahul(neu) alone wld have done in that situation. I know he rides abit crazily(lately he had improved thou) and tats why we always rided together. But then again Shit happens !
I guess we will have to come up with some plans to avoid such situations .... guys plz put in your thoughts.

PS : I am not blaming anyone here... newbies and pros ... plz take it in a +ive way.
Aprilia RS 125 or Honda CB400 Vtec ..... which one will it be ??? I think its gonna be NINJA ZX 6R :-)

Dude, i do agree with you here but just a clarification, lesser no. of G2G appearances/ no. of posts do not make one 'inexperienced' rider.

      • Just a tentative suggestion - resist going over 70 kmph on open roads with considerable traffic, 40-50 kmph in ghat straights, and 20-30 kmph on the hairpins, chicanes and U-turns. Even with super cool rides having ultra grip tyres. Close calls are warnings which, if not heeded will result in the obvious, and I have had my share of brushes with unfortunate incidents during yesterday's ride. Niranjan knows better because he did too.

If we want speedo G2Gs, then mention that before hand, so that anyone willing to stress test their rides can participate and rev the engines to the limits without as much of a thought about consequences. If we want safety G2Gs, then the coordinators and seniors both have to be careful with their own speeds as well as riding behaviour. Also, anyone with "powerful bikes" should resist overtaking the leader, no matter however strong the urge is, and try to remain in the position you are in. It's not that anyone who is in the back of the formation is any less important. If you feel left out let me know; I'll shuttle back and forth and entertain you with PJs and stories of nudist society's tryst with medieval sarcasm with some knock-knock jokes thrown in for variety. But if it's mentioned clearly that you should not overtake, then DONT OVERTAKE. I also suggest a person with a fast bike checking the formations and positions of the riders every now and then.

Anyway, the pics+video upload is around 480 Megs, so please be patient. Play some solitiare till then for timepass.

@ all.... being an experienced rider and being a skilled rider is two totally different things, on long tours the experience comes in to play. As it will help you in tackling surprisEs...if you know wat I mean.

That should sum it up....+ chetans intuition about newbies, i.e one experienced guy stays back with them. Or as an alternative keep'em somewhere in the middle.

Ya man.... I remember that . Shit happens !!! sheer negligence on two-wheels..... jawani ka josh..... we all will take every suggestion towards safety a positive way.... go ahead and post whatever you want to on promoting safety (this is for everyone).
Now we 5-6 guys discussed about the safety thing for this ride (incl. MG.. who gave us the guidelines), but still we ended in such a sad incident... we need more people giving their views.. where are we lacking, faulting... so that, what left in our thinking is covered by someone else... its always 'more is never enough'

Yup I know that..... that was one of the reasons of this incident.... coz I remember Neu telling me after the crash... that he was very much comfi on the R15 after that ride till Lion's point and was not getting proper feel on his RTR.

                        • Despite all the security measures taken by all and the efforts being put in by respective co-ordinators from both the cities including leaders and the sweepers, its really heart breaking that we encounter such incidents again...!!

A much appreciated effort by Niranjan, Chetan for riding pretty sanely throughout the whole ride well ofcourse me as well(bt i myself can't give a pat on my back by myself )...!! And from Mumbai Sumit, Motor, Anup and Marcus(would say him to be the most responsible one.... )....!!

Would request all the newbies/in experienced riders to BE and UNDERSTAND their limits...if this is not followed with immediate effect then i m sorry to say that they may or may not be included in the future rides....!! There were many riders who were new and were riding with a pillion....but still they did not stick to the rules(well i dont want to give out names in here).....

Hope, to see every one's co-operation in this regard in future...!!

Now, coming to RTR Fi topic...!! Well, rode the bike for the first time....the stand out feature which is PRETTY visible is its exhaust note...mann it has a really nice grunt attached to it....really fabulous....!! the bike picks up speed in no time...while i was riding it i didnt even realise it had reached 90+ in no time(that too wid 8-9K rpm)....Superb...!!

But, as Chetan already mentioned that engine pull is sad ... power output seemed pretty low.. a normal RTR felt better...to this statement i would comment that as his was a newly acquired machine(he(owner) told that it had just completed the 1st servicing and some 1000kms old) it would gradually pick up power and would start producing more power in the days to come.... Also, do you(chetan) remember that you and ritwik told in our lavasa G2G(in which Calvin's R15 was new) that the R15 lacks power, pulls really bad....!! But, this time you both told his R15 is picking up really well...and looks good(performance wise) too..!!

                          • Some tips take it or leave it

                            For starters:
1]Take out the 'I am the best and fastest biker' syndrome from your heads

2]Ride for the group and feel responsible for everyone.Else there is no point in riding the group. You can ride solo if you have syndrome mentioned in point 1.

3]Most of the crashes happen when people try to catch up with rest of the group as on sunday.People jump signal, overtake trucks etc.Make sure that if the group stops the signal is progated to everyone.

Whenever there is a group of more than 6-7 people, split into smaller groups of 4-5 people each with a lead and sweep for every unit

4]If you have a group never change positions of leaders unless you really have to.They tend to set the pace of the ride and check speed and its really dangerous if they have point 1 syndrome or are out to prove anything

5]Ride coordinators and seniors have to breif the team abt point 1 and make sure it goes into everyones heads everytime.Team breifing is utmost important at the start rather than 'lets go'

6]Avoid drags and stunts when far away from home and hospital

7]Always remember if you are a true blood biker you have nothing to prove to anyone. This at back of your mind would help keep 'jawani ka josh',hot blood etc in check.

Lastly(I am sure no one will like this)
8]Never have alcohol at GTGs.Stop boozing GTGs mumbai guys have. Most of you 'ride' back home after that. You are missing some fundamentals here that set you apart from rest of the 'guys on two wheels'.Incase you decide to meet for booze make sure you travel back home by public transport/cabs.

I dont generally dont have time to participate but follow this thread.
Also sorry for preaching as but I thought someone might get hurt 'more badly' next time

                            Hope this helps ,
                            good luck and god bless

                            • ^^Thanks a lot Amit.... this will surely help us on our future rides. We haven TAKEN the suggestions . Will try and implement all the points next time around, most importantly splitting the big group into smaller ones.

The first 2 points are a hit on the bullseye for safety.... I agree 100% with you, and guess most of the guys do here on Mumbai G2G thread.
Btw, we did not have to catch up with the group... and we were not atall speeding to catch the guys in front, but still the unfortunate consequences.

The last point about booze is a very important thing, guys are you listening??

"Always remember if you are a true blood biker you have nothing to prove to anyone. This at back of your mind would help keep 'jawani ka josh',hot blood etc in check."----This is the best line in your post... very true.

@Inder: No man... I have ridden a RTR brand new.... it has a smoother rev band as compared to the RTR Efi.... and as I said.... the R15 still lacks power.... its still the same thing.... just that we rev it more... coz its a bit old now !! If you check my ridelog... me n Sumit had a long drag... 3km race actually on open roads... with nothing on them... the R15 loses big time... sorry to say, run-in or kms clocked... it wont affect so much, so thats it period.

Btw... Neutrino has a hair line fracture in his left ankle and so got bandaged.... in 2-3 days he'll be ok....he has come out almost uninjured from a horrifying accident.... lucky u neutrino
