  • @Calvin - Anytime pal.

@Chetan - Dude you have sharp memory!

And I am still waiting to upload the intros. Any suggestions as to where I can put them so it's magnified enough for some of the "ahem" details to show up?

Lol... yup I do ... specially when Bike India did a cover story on Stuart some months back.... that JR sticker on the faring ... and a 7th gear sticker on the tail light panel... that bike does a 165kmph in the 1st gear

        @Winzee: Thanks for confirming that

Try to upload on TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting, it retains quality but takes time.

                        • Right so here is the crash log

Most if it has been written down by Chetan who was right behind me to see what happened, but this is the experience and some lessons from it.

                          First the first hand experience:-
We left Amby Valley and I asked Ameya if I could ride on his R15. He without hesitation agreed. So I took hold of this awesome bike and started riding and taking all corners at 70+ speeds and leaning at higher acute angles... Well U dont have to worry much... the baby of the mighty R1 does it for u Sometimes i thought saala saame ka side lamp touch karega zameen pe! So we reached lion's point and got compliments for my cornering (tabhi laga ... bas main to sab sikh gaya ab!)

                          The crash
Anyways after having a break we all left and i got sat on my bike... RTR. 200 Mts ahead I stopped to pee. Chetan and Calvin waited.. I told them to leave but Chetan patiently waited. hmmm..... we started and chetan was right on the tail... After 2 curves... This was a blind curve. While entering it was uphill and almost a V turn (if not U) and downhill on the exit. So while entering the curve one cant see whats the curvature... I was in middle of the road and started climbing at 65kmph... Suddenly i reach the top to see a sharp turn on right side... I was like f***.. This time i ve messed it up. I realised about 3-4 seconds earlier that there would be a mishap. I had 2 options to decide from. 1. Turn the handle and brake back and frnt really hard - This would have been a definate skid on the tarmac. 2. There was a railing on left edge of the road.. Hit that so that I could land on the grass. In a split second i preferred hitting on the railing rather than skidding. I pressed the brakes and hit it at a speed of 55kmph. hmmmmmmm.... I was thrown of the bike and landed on grass with 2-3 tumbles. I was wearing Helmet and armored jacked which saved me from any bruises and beared the impact to an extent.

                          Post Crash
I was concious but cudnt take my helmet off.. 1 guy came and removed my helmet. I felt heavy on the head. Right side of ribs were hurting.. guess i landed on my right shoulder first. Got my gloves off... Check my new iPhone if it was fine.. (thankfully it was fine!!! -- i payed 36K for it ).... Chetan came upto me to ask how am i feeling as i got up... Saw the bike... and the only thing i say is ... "Oh shit.... chetan isko abhi leke kaise jaayega!!!)" He was like "are uska tension mat le.. tu kaisa hai".. I was pretty that time.. since there were no visible injuries. A tempo guy stopped.. He agreed to take the bike and drop me in mumbai for 2200 bucks (its a lot -- even a round trip wont cost as much )... without bargaining much we loaded the bike and i sat behind chetan. It was my first crash after riding 11000Kms.. Thats what made me feel even worse..

                          Service Centre
I met everyone at RK and left with the autowala. The service centre guy said its a nasty crash.. and need to replace 1. front mudguard 2. front wheel + disc brake assembly 3. engine guard 4. gear levers 5. left footrests. 6. The yellow fibre cover under the seat 7. Split grab rails and 8. tank... Ehhh leaves nothing i guess... Thankfully I have insurance so lot of damage will be covered up.. But yeah its not 100% u have to pay some % from ur pokects.

                          At Home
I had already called up home and told mom-dad that i had an accident.. I am fine but bike is screwed. My parents are pretty cool. I reached home and mom was very worried. She felt relaxed after seeing me. Dad was chilled out.. told me to always slow down on corners and lower the gears to have better control .... hehe.. so no scene at home..

                          Injuries
Went to the hospital and got the xray of my left ankle. There is a hairline crack. It should heal in 3-4 days but i have to keep the plaster for longer time. I can start going to office from next monday. Both shoulders paining and also pain on right ribs. Should be fine in few days.
Bike ko running condition main aaneke liye 25 days lagega along with insurance claim.

                          Right... abhi Ramayan pura hua...

                          Lessons I learnt
                          1. Please have proper riding gear. Costs u penny but saves u fortune! I am posting the pic of my helmet which has a scratch and a crack on the jaw. Sincerely requesting everyone to have good quality helmets.
                          2. Learn the art of cornering (which i did..) but at the same time know the capabilities of ur bike !
                          3. Dont ride alone (I am sure on xbhp G2Gs.. people wont leave anyone behind or u ll get a shouting if u race away in frnt )
                          4. Have your bike insured... Mishaps can happen with everyone.. with experienced riders also.. Lot of times the mistake is not urs but then u have to pay for it. Dont worry for few more bucks but have a full insurance.

                          Thanks
First of all to Chetan.. I remember he said "Tereko pee karte dekhne ke liye nahi ruka tha main.. things like these happen thats why"
And to everyone for all the help and wishes with special mention of Nikhil, Anoop, Ameya...

For those of who knew I had an interview to give today - It went of well and I am expecting an offer from them
