There are quite a few different routes to get back to Ahmedabad from Itwar. We could have gone back via same route we took, or could have gone directly to Nadiad and then to Ahmedabad via NH8. We took a totally different route, Via Dakor and Mehmedaad. These are interior smaller State Highways but are alot of fun to ride on. We left the group to have their snacks and probably a cup of tea or coffee but as we were planning to stop around Dakor to have our lunch we did not want to waste much time there.
After a round of hand shakes and good byes we headed straight to Dakor taking some odd roads which took us first to Galteshwar which is a Hindu shrine, being a Sunday there were a lot of pilgrims there. The narrow bridge across the river looked really awesome from a distance but that was that, once we got closer and onto the bridge it was prity scarry as the bridge was in a bad shape, that was very natural looking at the low height of the bridge and presuming it would be battered every monsoon season with water and being inundated. The side walls did not exist. We kept riding further till we reached the Godhra - Dakor highway and headed towards Dakor, we came across a road side restaurant which looked really tempting, we decided to have our lunch here itself rather than waiting till Dakor which was a further 10 km. The food was prity good and reasonably prices as well.
After lunch Dakor was insights and enroute I got a call from my wife asking where I was as I had promised to be home by 3:30 and it was already 4:15 with no news from my end, I just could not believe it was so late, in the back of my mind it was just like around 2-2:30, told here I would need another 2hrs odd to get back home. We stopped at Dakor for a while as Laukik needed fuel. The roads from here on upto Ahmedabad were prity good with some bad patches on the way. Traffic was moderate with some rally good greenery on either side of the road. We reached Mahudh and from there to Mehmdabad. All this time the sun playing hide and seek with us hiding behind the tree cover on the road side. The weather remained pleasant all through out the day and that is what kept us fresh all through out. We reached SPRR and from here Sharad took a left and headed straight home via Sarkhej. Laukik and myself headed towards Maninagar taking the Jashodanagar Flyover. Laukik had a few of Sharad as well as my belongings with him in his back pack so once we reached near his home we stopped exchanged our wishes and he handed over my stuff I had a glance at my mobile to check the time and it was 5:30 at that moment, the distance from here to my home is hardly 5-6 kms but that took me around 45 minutes to cover, I got stuck in some really nasty traffic in and around Kankaria lakem it was the last day for the Kankaria Carnival and the crowds were just going berserk.
By the time I reached back home it was way past 6 in the evening. I was reallly a great trip, a pleasure meeting all the Baroda guys. Hope we all can get together more often.
