                      • 30th December 2012

Baroda (Vadodra) - Ahmedabad Intercity Meet.

Sharukh (Not SRK) was in Baroda for his Christmas and New Year Vacation and wanted to go for a ride or atleast wanted to meet the Ahmedabad guys, we decided to arrange a G2G on the Last Sunday of the year with the condition that this time around the Ahmedabad guys have to travel to Baroda, so it was decided that Sharukh would organize the meet and finalize the Destination as well. Ahmedabad guys would ride down to Baroda and we will all go ahead to the final destination as a group.

Decemeber 29th - Intercity Meet Eve and it was getting clearer and clearer that Ahmedabad guys are not going be in large numbers as a lot of them were either busy or had exams, some were out of town and others were injured. Looked like it would just be 3-4 guys leaving from Ahmedabad and Prashant joining in later on. The Ahmedabad guys were to meetup at NH8 X SPRR at Aslali, the entry point to the Road LEading to Baroda via Kheda, Nadiad and Anand. Time for the meetup was finalized at 7:00 AM and departure was 7:30 AM

30th December 2012 - Morning 6:00 I wake up and get ready, have a cup of coffee and was about to leave around 6:45 when I get 2 calls 1st one from Sharad telling me that he will be late. It was very clear from his voice that he had just woken up, I was like whatever mate just get that I will wait for you. I somehow managed to get my gloves and all with help from my wife and then got the bike started but realized that my Full length Teknics are not going to be viable just now as I was just not able to grip onto the Accelerator so turned around and went back home, called my wife again to give me the older thumbless DGS gloves. I was just about to leave when I got another call this time it was Sudeep, again the same thing "I will be little late but am coming wait" I was like here we go again the Schedule goes down the drain . Anyhow left home on time and was about the reach the meetup place when I got a call from Laukik, I picked it up and informed him that I will rendezvous with him in less than 5 minutes. It was good to see a first timer joining in for a ride. Laukik rides a Hero Honda (now HMC) CBZ Extreme. The 2 of us just chatted away for almost an hour when we all off heard the roar of a bike, it was a Harley with a couple on it both were fully geared up a nice sight actually to see a Harley guy not just wearing a helmet but fully geared up and his wife (Atleast that is what I could makeout) was fully geared as well. 5 Minutes later I see Sharad on his CBR250R at the circle, wave to him and we were now 3 waiting for Sudeep to join in on his Duke, he too arrived in no more than 5 minutes and we were about to leave but not before the customary Sutta break. It was already way past 8:00 AM.

Asked Sudeep to take the lead and not to go to hard as we have a first timer and also the NH8 is just too busy. Laukik really impressed me with riding skills. We managed to reach Baroda without any incident by around 9:45 and stopped at Dumad Cross. Called up Sharukh and he picked us up and lead us to Plazzo with to every's surprise was an awesome place.

The Baroda guys were already there waiting for us in quite good numbers, we had out customary hand shakes, hugs and a round of introductions. IT was really pleasing to see so many new faces and young faces, lots of first timers as well, Sharukh and Praveen had done a great job. We all settled into tech session with Sudeep taking the Initiative to teach the younger generation the technicalities of riding in group. That was accompanied with Hot Coffee and Sandwitches.

                        To Be Cont........

                              • It was now time to head out and ride, we were a total of 12 bikes at that time and we all came to an agreement that the group be split into 2 as riding on narrow state highways as large group could create issues. The group was split into 2 based on riding experience and general riding speeds. The senior more experienced riders lead by Sharukh moved out ahead with Sudeep sweeping at the tail this group also included Praveen, Sharad & Shidharth Dave, the rest of the guys were in the slower group which included myself.

We were already way behind schedule when we left Baroda enroute Savli, the roads in general were prity good, but even though it was a Sunday there was very heavy Truck traffic which kept our average speeds down. The quality of riders and the greenery made the ride a real joy. I was sweeping so kept giving my inputs to the riders up ahead. We reached Savli and found the leading group waiting for us, Sudeep needed to check his air pressure as he felt as if it was a bit too high, also Prashant who was to join in called up to know which route he was supposed to take. Sudeep and Sharukh guided him and we moved on. The roads from here on started to become even more interesting the traffic being slightly on the lower side and a few corners, one or two bridges with some really lovely scenic views kept up all all interesteed as we approaded and crossed Rasalpur the road on both sides started to become more and more greener and that was bound to happen looking at the levels and flow of water in the rivers.

We reached Dungripur a small village a few kilometer north of Rasalpur, its so small that Google Maps and even Nokia maps was unable to recognize the place, we were to take left turn from here and head towards a small settlement called Itwar on the banks of the River Mahi, Prashant called up again, he had reached Savli and wanted to know where next, Sudeep started to get worried as finding this place is going to be extremely tough and that too if we are going to leave the main roads and head interior it would become even more tough to explain our location to him, in all this confusion the group left towards the Final Destination. Sudeep, Praveen, Sharad and myself were left to contemplate what to do, we concluded that it would be better for all to go and enjoy the place and if Prashant gets lost or lost we can ask him to get back to Savli and wait for us there as he and Sudeep were Mumbai bound and Sudeep would in any case pass Savli again.

With the confusion put to rest we also headed towards the river bed, we found the roads extremely confusing, just the thought of explaining the route to someone made me sick, so forgot about that and concentrated on the roads ahead as it was slowly and steadily starting to become an off-road trail with a lot of sand and loose gravel.

We were about to reach when I saw Laukik headed our way I got worried what could be the matter is he lost, are we headed in the wrong direction or is he out in search of us, it was a relief to know it was the later, he joined in with us and we all re-grouped. The the river bed was awesome, rocks all over the place felt, water levels were good to have fun, the water also seemed really really clean. We all parked our bikes and headed straight for the water, cameras started to come out and the photo frenzy started. I am yet to upload photos onto a photo sharing site so it will take some time to upload the links here, so please bare with me. I will not write anything more about the location as I guess we have enough pics to tell a story of their own.

The return journey is what remains, Sharad, Laukik and myself headed back to Ahemedabad, the Baroda guys went back home where as Sudeep and Prashant headed to Mumbai.
