Welcome. As you never been in to rides before, please do go for small g2g's and rides in Bangalore before this event.

\Voted for both place and date. but i do have one doubt, why does the first proposed date has 4 days and rest 2 have only 3 ?
I have voted for first two, by november i think my university exams might come up.

I really looking forward to this ride.Hopefully academic dates wont play spoilsport.

            Cheers

Me too doubtful about semester exam on November. Will confirm it after college re-opens and vote for the date.

                      Myself- Praveen from Kerala....

I am in.... Dates and Place - No probs :-)

                      Regarding participation from KL....

I am confused how much of the guys will come even if it is in the border side of KA to KL. Most of the guys re looking for one day rides and TRi State g2g has it is own heritage to be kept for sure. It is for those who can spent 3 days away from home and to ride with the group... Those who cant do that can wait for the next ISg2g in their state.... It is my own opinion... Both places suggested is somewhat equidistant to both KL and TN guys... That's all we can think for ISg2g....
started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR

Even on this route - Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India to Chikmagalur, Karnataka, India - Google Maps

I know it's very long than the conventional route, but, after Nagercoil all way up to NICE, the journey is absolutely tireless. I'm sure if you guys start as early as 3:00 AM in the morning, you can be at Chikmagalur by 7:30 PM for sure.

C'mon, I'm looking forward to see you Iron man along with others

@praveen/ganesh, trivandrum guys can come to cochin before the ride day and they can stay here as we done on isg2g yercaud.

from cochin to chikmagalur around 510 kms via thrissur-manjeri-thamaraserry-kalpetta-mananthavady-kattikulam-tholpetty-kutta-hunsur-hassan outer to chikamagalur. route as per gmaps.

hope we can show a good no of riders on this time.

Did you guys check the conditions of the road? I & sayhi2sai did this circuit during April end, we were cursing ourselves even though we were on our CBR.

That's why I preferred the longer route where you don't have to worry about vehicles coming from other side or road conditions. My timing was based on 60 Kmph average & I'm damn damn sure that you guys will ride faster than that.

Anyway up to you guys on your route, I only expect maximum participation from KL also

@Swaroop : Will be a little more than 510, more like 580+. Will recommend that you take the regular road so you can ride faster. My suggestion will be either :-

                              1. Kochi - Sultan Bathery - Mysore - Hunsur - Hassan - Chikmagalur
                              2. Kochi - Ooty - Mysore - Hunsur - Hassan - Chikmagalur

For the routes, the bit between Hunsur - Hassan is a bit tricky but a lot of people are using GPS phones these days so I don't think its that easy to get lost. The other alternative route I can see is :-

                              3. Kochi - Mangalore - Charmadi - Chikmagalur

But I don't how badly screwed is the Kochi - Mangalore stretch, historically its always been in a bad state.

Not sure about if the roads have been repaired now, but the 'kalpetta-mananthavady-kattikulam-tholpetty-kutta-hunsur' is usually back breaker of road. Especially the Manathavady-Kutta stretch.

EDIT: I would recommend that instead of starting from Kochi, proceed further with the TVM boys and ride out atleast 100-150 kms out of Kochi so that the next day you folks don't have to do nearly 600kms. And on roads like those its easy to get lost once it gets dark. Give it a thought

                              OMFG!!

You want the poor TVM boys to do 980kms in 16.5 hours! Even if we assume they don't take any breaks, they would still have to do 60 Kmph average speed

I'm not saying its impossible, its just too much for a large group ride!

Ok, this WILL be the best route for KL guys - Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India to Chikmagalur, Karnataka, India - Google Maps

Edit - BTW, pls DO NOT under estimate KL guys, you should hear what some of the people have accomplished...they're really awesome, they say as if they're confused, but they've iron butts
