the legality and the income tax have been some things which have prevented us from taking the donations from willing members in the past.

This time we must get this through.

Hiring a chopper would be very expensive proposition. Even if most people have been evacuated, many have lost everything & needs support to start afesh (sounds simple but absolutely herculean task). Providing them with materials, ration would be a better idea.

Sat Phone is not that easy, as far as I know. You need permission from the Govt. of India to hold one. Knowledge courtsey, some series in Discovery or NGC. But a working phone seems a very good option. Again, much will depend on the network since I guess the mobile towers too may been damaged.

so whats the update guys...

i don't think, not getting an income tax rebate will stop me from helping with some money. it should be same for others as well, i think.

Its not about getting a rebate. Its about accounting for the money that you receive in an account. If a person shares his Account ID for this use, and 50 people end up depositing something like 2 lakh in the account, how do you account for it in front of Income tax Dept if they decide to probe. You are liable to pay tax on it as its an income you received. So ideally, you should be declaring it and paying tax according to the bracket you are in. If the IT dept keeps sleeping on these transactions, soon all the black money in India will be transmitted through banks without any taxes

For an entity like xBhp, keeping accounting books clean is of critical importance.
Let sunilg get back on this.

Yes, I agree with MiK here. XBHP is a business entity now & cannot accept money as it may be treated as Revenue. What I can suggest is that few Delhi members share their account nos. to a very limited no. of outstation members (5 at max) so that they can donate on thier behalf. Members will notify on the site such money received.

Prince: Yes, very sad to get such a timid response from XBHP members. Anyway, I would like to propose here that like a I said earlier too, I can provide you with my Account number (I will provide you with Account statement screenshot) and you can transfer the amount to my account. I will then contribute on your behalf to the fund at the G2G. I will mention here once I receive money from you guys. mail me at [email protected] for more nitty gritties.

never mind the slow response. I am sure more people will join us.

We are accepting help from xBhpians who are not based out of Delhi/NCR. I am ready to share my personal account details. Dipankar has also agreed to do the same.

so in case you want to contribute, mail me at sunilg @ xBhp.com and I'll send you my contact details. Once you have transferred the money, you can update it on this thread itself so that we can track the money and have the record of money transferred in public for the sake of transparency.

Hi Shrinath,

Yes, we are accepting the funds from people outside of Delhi/NCR. Though this money cannot be transferred into xBhp's account due to some legal constraints, people can send the money directly into my account or Dipankar's account. You can mail me at sunilg @ xBhp dot com and I'll send you my account details.

For the sake of transparency and accounting once you've transferred the money, you can post the details on this thread itself so that the money can be tracked.
