Re: Help for Uttarakhand : Planning

An interesting pointer on whats going wrong with the relief efforts.
Could also give direction on how to effectively use the remaining amount.

She's spot on with her observations. I hope that what she says reaches out to people who are trying to help but are doing it wrong.

and that's when our decision to go with Tilak and his team to provide help is proved to be the right way.

Thankfully we didn't go on a buying spree as soon as we had the money in hand. The things on priority were bought first (tarpulin etc.) and the rest of the money is on hold as we were told by Tilak & co. that they already have overflow of the rest of the material.

The material that was collected was sent to Uttarakhand in 7 cars instead of one big truck so that it doesn't get stuck midway due to the broken/washed away roads.

these guys are already up in the affected area and we'll buy more supplies based on their inputs from the ground zero.

Wow! That calls for another round of funding when Tilak needs it.
Maybe city wise G2Gs could do their bit (I believe Mumbai contributed)

Re: Help for Uttarakhand : Planning

our relief distribution work has started in and around uttarkashi..
some points just for your knowledge
on 4th of July our team went to Dhanari Patti area and visited villages like Koti, Bhatt and pipli, but we could not find much signs of devastation except reports of fields (Khet) been washed away.. there we distributed around 13 tarpaulins
on 5th July (yesterday) we visited Didsari Village and called Pradhan (Vijay Rana) and he gave us list of around 100 villagers who were affected by the floods,. we made two categories, category A included people who lost houses and everything, category B included other villagers who were severally affected..
to category A (20 people) we gave the following: tarpaulin, raincoat, Rice, Sugar, Daal, Biscuits, Maggie, Torch, candles, match box, water purifying tablets, old cloths

to category B (70 people around) we gave the following: tarpaulin, raincoat, Biscuits, Maggie, water purifying tablets, old cloths
we also distributed tarpaulins, raincoats, water purifying tablets to 13 people from bayana village
today we have called 20 people severally affected from shyaba village with their pradhan to distribute relief supply.
we are drafting a complete report on the work done and shall upload soon with pics..
together we can bring smile to few

Guys, please post some well sized pics of the relief work that you're doing. I wish to get them printed and share this with my college staff who has contributed...

This way, they might contribute more, specially when they see the real picture, instead of what the news channels show.

Although, I myself am in a tight position with Duke 390 test ride & booking around the corner, and even overall low salary & savings but I'll contribute whatever I can, to the cause.

Personally I'm satisfied and also been assured, as these funds are flowing in right hands and in right direction. Thanks a lot friends. Any help needed please keep us posted.
